It appears Cowboys RB Malik Davis is the favorite to be the No. 2 RB behind Tony Pollard

The biggest concern with Davis is he’s unproven. When Pollard went down against San Francisco in the playoffs, the Cowboys showed no confidence in him. He didn’t get a single carry. We went with Zeke the rest of the way. Now with Zeke gone and Jones suspended the first two games of the regular season, we have no choice but to give him an opportunity.
I'm not concerned at all.

He was good as a rookie.
I thought he showed promise. I’m just saying. In the niners game. It was a playoff game with the season on the line. The coaches decided to use Zeke instead of the undrafted rookie. As beat up and worn down as Zeke was. The coaches wanted the experience out there.

Malik has more experience now. I think he can be a contributor in a running back group.

After a couple of preseason games one of these will be a Cowboy....
  1. Dalvin Cook.
  2. Kareem Hunt
  3. Leonard Fournette
  4. Zeke

Doubt those guys will be, because they'll want more than a mil a year. But its very possible someone else will be.

Depends on what they really think of Davis and if they want to roll with 3 true rbs. Dowdle has been mentioned by MM as someone he likes.

If they go three pure rbs, it could be Pollard, Davis and Dowdle. I think they see Davis as a better option than Dowdle right now.

So they may look at bringing in a third. Or if someone thats becomes available is an upgrade to Davis, they go that route and Davis is the third.

Or they only keep two true RBs and a guy like Hunter is in play for the 3rd/FB/H back.

We have a legit top 10, at least, rb in Pollard. And a capable back up in Davis. Running back is not a concern.

The only thing thing that can hold this team back this year is Dak. His play must improve.

You’re never concerned about anything with the team. You’re one of those “we’ll be just fine” type of fans. The Cowboys could stick anyone in at RB and you wouldn’t be the least bit concerned. Lol

We're in trouble.... He wasn't even trusted when Pollard went down against SF...
PS JAG as #2. Not good.
That tells you we failed to improve at RB in the offseason.
There are probably some older veteran free agents would could be had for a stick of gum who would be better.

At least he's been in the system a while. That's something.

Davis is good. That's why he made the team last year. He was pissed that he wasn't playing. That's what led to the internal conflict on the team.

Don’t remember hearing about any internal conflict on the team. Not giving a rookie an opportunity in the playoffs isn’t going to cause an internal conflict. He was a rookie last season and they didn’t trust him. Depending on how preseason goes we may not be set at RB. If the Cowboys aren’t comfortable with what they have, they could pick up an RB during the final cuts.

Soooo he was in the doghouse for being right?

He was in the doghouse based on what? Some random report from Broaduss? Based on that alone I give it little credibility.

Anyone giving the media those types of insights have an agenda. Whats more concerning is who leaked this, true or not.

Maybe the coaches realize that now as hes getting an opportunity now. With Jones suspension its very plausible he gets the job. I know everyone likes Vaughn a lot but see him in more of a gadget role this year. It will be fun to get him, Turpin, and Pollard all together a few plays a game. Lot of speed and short area quickness there.

Running backs usually hit the ground running.. I find it odd that Zeke and his 2.6 yards per carry vs. SF didn't force the coaches to use Davis. Doghouse or not millions of dollars and jobs were on the line. Being in the doghouse for wanting more touches is a minor offense. If he was that good he would of been in there..
