It appears Cowboys RB Malik Davis is the favorite to be the No. 2 RB behind Tony Pollard

Not completely opposed to it, I like Davis, but it does feel weird potentially having a run first approach with a backfield of Pollard/Davis/Vaughn. Almost feels like a Hunter Leupke (or an acquisition) would be a lock to make the team. You have to have a bigger-bodied back to take some of those short yardage/goal line runs that Zeke made look easy for years. IDK if that is Leupke actually running the ball or just at FB for push, but man i am having flashbacks of Pollard getting stuffed on goalline runs last season.

This is why you resign Zeke at a team friendly deal. He’s still one of the best short yardage/goal line backs out there.

Absolutely. You can't choose a backfield that ignores the pass blocking/short yardage aspects of the RB position.

Im not the least bit surprised that it’s not Ronald Jones.

Well there is that little suspension thing. Even if he does make the team now we need a backup for the first two games.

And for the record, Im a Malik fan and think he can be a fine RB2. Past injuries are a little concerning, but talent wise he fits as RB2.

Speaking of Luepke, have you (or anyone else) seen anything about him since camp has started?

I haven’t seen a mention of his name at all.
