lets' be honest, you have NO idea if this is true or not, you just want to believe it so you can get an "i told you so" in.

me? they just put big $ in him and i doubt seriously they were gonna cut him then w/o seeing if they can get some of their investment back. but hey, go be extreme. it's all the rage.

They should have cut him 3 minutes after he signed that big contract, just cuz Jerry can afford it.

THAT would be extreme. :D

I'm not excited or disappointed that the cowboys released him.

I am just in absolute awe of how bad of a signing it was. I'm pretty sure everyone other than jerry thought it was a terrible idea.

Reminds me of haynesworth a bit.

Ratliff has been a bum for some time now. Has a few good games, then cries about a boo boo, and pulls up lame.

Dude was more sensitive than greg ellis.

This release makes the terrible extention of him one of the worse contracts in Cowboys hisitory...

Ratliff was all pro when he got that contract. The Cowboys took care of a guy that they had been grossly underpaying for years.

It is things like this that make Dallas an attractive FA destination and in the age of the salary cap, it makes a meaningful difference. Compare that to say SD where they do not do things such as this and you can see where it becomes a competitive advantage.

lol

yeah ok. Ummm... wow.

He wasn't even the best cowboy on the roster during his prime. Much less "all time" which is what I assume you meant?

He was a good one, but not even one of the top 5 interior DL in cowboys history.
I didn't mean of all time. When he was at his peak, there wasn't a better Cowboy as in guy who embraced the star and did everything he could to win.

And its not like he was an average player his whole career, the guy was an all pro.

Randy White
Russell Maryland
Leon Lett
Jethro Pugh
Tony Casillas (arguably)

Rat was a good one, but some of you people have very selective memory. He wasn't THAT good. Settle down.

I would also take la roi glover and consider chad hennings over him

Agreed. Also, kindly note the DWI was not long after Brent had his that killed a player. You would think he might have learned something from that. He was a great player when he played.. but being out most of 2012 and this year too.. just sucks. Not to mention he is on the wrong side of 30.

For him to blow up at Jerry and almost come to physical blows with him, something definitely was going on behind the scenes that I'm sure will come to light down the road. I think Ratliff had no intentions of every playing another snap here after last season. I think that goes into what you said about the DWI. Just weeks after Brent's killed their teammate. He just didn't care. Some made mentions he may have been bi polar of some kind. And you never knew which Ratliff would show up from day to day.

This relationship became toxic in a hurry. Sad to see it end like this but my feelings remain the same. Good riddance to him.
