Jerry: I'm reluctant to bet it all for just one year

Their cap is really in flux looking at it. There are voids all over the place and I am not sure what is counting and what isn't. Like Kelce's deal...good chance he retires. Good chance that money accelerates.
Not exactly. He'll do what Frederick does if he retires. He would just end up filing his retirement post June 1 which will not really hurt the Eagles cap. If he leaves post June, I believe they actually save $1.5 million on the cap (they are already carring nearly $12 million cap hit on their 2023 cap). Granted that's post June 1 savings. They do have to take like an $11 million dead cap hit in 2024, however.

I actually understand his contract and mentioned the acceleration of the dead money. Maybe I worded it badly but I can see the numbers.

Philly could keep him if they poney up a huge contract. This is true. Good for them. He wouldn't be what I save out of their FA's . Gardner Johnson is younger, he is who i would save.

They have a lot of coconut shuffling to do, let's see how they come out of it. It is far from a forgone conclusion that they have all of this figured out. It looks like they do whatever they can to push the pain down the line to me.
But if they extend Hargrave, it creates the space to then bring back Gardner Johnson. Literally, if they extend him and backload the deal, which Roseman does, they will drop Hargrave's cap from like $12 million to $4 to $5 million. There's the money to bring back Gardner Johnson, for example.

They coconut shuffle almost every year. Roseman is a master at it. People thinking their roster is gonna nose dive after this year are just whistling past the graveyard. They will lose some guys for sure (we did last year). But they will add some guys and have two #1 picks. They are going to have a pretty talented roster again in 2024.

Pick your spots with risk taking?

LOL. When, Jerry, in the last half dozen years when you had pretty good teams did you take the calculated risk?

Seriously, the media needs to start calling him out on this BS.
This is the issue, no follow up questions because the Joneses got the local media scared to lose access to the team.

Find a hobby whining 24/7 is not healthy folks
They revel in it.

They love wallowing in Philly's success or Mahomes being the best qb in the league or pointing at every other team that did something right....

Refuse to give the cowboys credit for anything. It is just "Cap Boy", "27 years and counting", and "Dak Suxx".

I don't know how they can repeat the same tired crap 24/7.

Hargrave will test FA. It would be stupid not to...it will be his last payday and he earned it.
Philly can still sign him but it will be way harder as teams with way more cap will throw boatloads at him.

They will sign their key young players but their team is not going to be as good next year. There is literally no way.

I bet he never makes it to FA. He'll get a 3-4 year deal again, big signing bonus and it will work the cap again, probably with some dummy years Roseman will worry about 5 years from now.

We will see. Philly has gotten guys to stay for less, which boggles the mind because it is a cesspool.

Jerry and Stephen lack creativity

I dont disagree with their general philosophy to build through the draft and try to have sustained success. But you dont have to go ALL IN. I think if you take this years Cowboys squad and add a solid #2 WR and a solid DT, we're right there with the Eagles and potentially playing in the Super Bowl. They just need to turn up the aggressiveness a notch.

For example, retaining Amari for one more year and trading for someone better than Jonathan Hankins wouldnt have been betting it all for one year.

More often than not, taking the big swing does not work out.
The last couple of years has seen it differently though, but that's normally not the case. FA "winners" usually don't fare well.

It definitely worked out for the Rams last year
Philly swung big for Brown and that has helped
49ers came up short swinging big for CMC, but he did play well. But now they are going pay for it for the next 2 years.

Jerry keeps the cowboys as the laughing stock of the league
I wouldnt say so, at least we have been relevant for 2/3 years under Mac . If he manages to get into playoffs next year and advance beyond divisional round, I would even think it is progress.

Compared to teams like , Washington, Houston, Chicago, Zona etc.. Dallas is not laughing stock !

Its after next year that their roster will nose dive because then it will be time to pay the QB and he will have 100% of the leverage.
