There's a good argument that can be made for and against drafting a QB at #4.

There's many more arguments against drafting a QB especially when you examine the Cowboys situation. First off no one seems to be head over heels for any of the QBs in this draft. There's no Peyton Manning in this group. A couple of months ago some had Wenz outside the first round now after the Senior Bowl he's being talked about as the first overall pick. Mike Mayock said he never thought much of Wenz until the Senior Bowl and then began to fall in love with him. Some of the biggest mistakes I've seen at QB are the QBs that seem to come from nowhere AFTER the college season due to some workouts. I'll never forget how Akili Smith shot up draft boards due to some workouts. Some even had him going #1 overall they were so impressed with his workouts. Mayock said Jamarcus Russell had the best pro day he ever saw. I'm staying away from any QB in the first round whose workouts raised their stock to first round status.

With Romo maybe having 3 years it makes no sense to take a chance on a QB with a top 5 pick who no one thinks is the next great QB. The potential for a bust at QB is way too high to take a chance on a QB when you still have one of the better QBs in the league starting for you. As the draft approaches these QBs seem to get better and better in the eyes of the experts. Five months ago it was being said this is a weak QB draft now like every year these QBs are starting to rise the closer we get to April. By draft day we may see 3 QBs go in the top 10 with some now starting to drool over Paxton Lynch. It's easy to see why so many teams get ROYALLY SCREWED with some of these college QBs due to putting so much on these damn workouts. You have to judge QBs on their college tape not some pro day in shorts and a t-shirt. The Cowboys need to use their top pick on a player who will make an immediate impact and that won't be a QB.

Your argument isn't as solid as you think it is. The "This FA has a history of success" - that's great, I guess we should cancel out players everywhere in the draft then. You know what, ****, cross off QB. RGIII had a pro-bowl season, he has "proven" more than the QB prospects. We can't just cross our fingers and hope one of these QBs overcome the high bust rate of QBs that enter the NFL through the draft, right?

I love Stash logic. This is fun!

More like a poor attempt at reductio ad absurdum, but you have fun with it!

What kind of casual NFL fan babble is this? "It doesn't matter what cost"? Did you just start watching the NFL last year? My goodness. There is a cap for a reason and it must be managed reasonably.

Did your IQ drop overnight?

Not as far down as yours apparently. The fact is that I can fill any other position outside of starting quarterback. Cost is irrelevant. I can do it. But I can't fill a need at starting quarterback, no matter the price. It doesn't matter if I'm willing to pay someone $25 million per year, the fact is that you can't get one.

Teams are throwing $100 million contracts at questionable starters, and guys like Cousins and Bradford are making $18-$19 million a year, and somehow, people want to pass on a quarterback.

Romo is 36 years old and hasn't finished a full season since 2012, but ya know what? Let's pass on the quarterback! We'll put another bandaid on a gaping wound and continue to say "this is the year!"

All of these question marks surrounding these players at the top is why I would go QB. If we don't then I would prefer to trade down but there's no guarantee we could do that. I can only see someone wanting to move up for a QB in which case it'd make more sense to stay put and take him ourselves.

No postion carries more question marks than the QBs in this draft. None of them looked that great during the college season it was the Senior Bowl that raised the stock of Wenz. For months Goff was the guy now all of a sudden after the Senior Bowl Wenz is the guy. When you have a lot of question marks at the top of the draft you trade down and pick up an extra #2 or maybe more. Too many question marks on these QBs to be taking one #4 overall when you still have a Tony Romo. The potential to end up with a Blaine Gabbort, Jake Locker, Christian Ponder or a David Carr is way too high for the Cowboys to be risking a high pick on a QB when they still have a solid starter. They can take a QB in the second round who could end up being better than any of these QBs because drafting a QB is a crapshoot.

Yeah, he could play middle linebacker just because! Because we need him to, because we want him to, because someone thinks he can.

Not because he's actually done it.

You need to go look at the tape, he has actually done it!

Do you actually think this is different with cornerback? I mean, seriously. What kind of cornerback did we throw a lot of money at? How about the Eagles? Cornerback isn't some easy to hit on, easy to find position in FA or even the draft. It's the same as QB. So, if you're in position to grab a highly rated CB in the draft, you grab that CB.

Jenkins is a little above average corner in this league and he's going to get top dollar from someone. Why? Because good corners are tough to find. Your point about QBs is the same as CB. We're not talking running back here.

Here's a bit of info. If there was a "Peyton Manning in this group", we couldn't get him at #4 anyway, much less anywhere else in another draft. Last year, going into the 2015 season, Jared Goff was the consensus projected top quarterback. If you want to look at what he produced and tell me why that should be changed, feel free.

Romo hasn't had one complete year since 2012, much less "having three years". You count on that and it's your own fault when you fail. It's self-inflicted. And the facts show that there's significantly more potential to bust drafting anywhere after the first round. Anyone who takes a look at the playoff teams versus non-playoff teams will easily see who's ROYALLY SCREWED. Every team that went anywhere in the playoffs had first round quarterbacks, other than everyone's lone exception Tom Brady. If you want to make the case that Brady, Russel Wilson, or Romo are the rule rather than the rarest exception, I'd love to hear it.

And one last thing, this team had three 1st round talents added to the roster last year, where was the "immediate impact"?

Yeah, that's what I thought...

I expect Wentz or Goff will go to the Browns. If we aren't sold on the other then yes, my ideal scenario would be to trade down a few spots possibly to #7 with SF and gain at least an additional 2nd round pick.

But if we can't trade down I'd rather take the QB at 4, especially if the Cowboys are thinking about skipping QB at 4 but then taking a lower rated QB on day 2. That would be the worst case scenario for me.

Also, it's true neither of these top QB's are sure things. But then neither is Ramsey, Bosa, Jack or any of the other prospects. Also, I think Wentz and Goff are better prospects and their numbers are better than that of guys like Gabbert, Ponder, Locker and David Carr. They may not be Peyton, Luck or Newton but I think at worse they compare favorably to Matt Ryan, Flacco or even Bortles. And in Wentz' case possibly Rothlisberger. Neither may be a top 5 QB in the league but I don't think they will be busts like some of the guys you mentioned either. And it's not like Bosa is expected to be the next JJ Watts or Ramsey another Deion, Revis or if safety Polamula or Reed. I'd rather take a potential top 10 caliber QB than a decent defender with us then using a 2nd-4th rounder on a QB who at best may be a borderline starter/career backup.

As an aside, take a look at this picture.

There's a section on the wall labeled "We-Fense".

This is why I have great hope in this staff. Please press some new T-Shirts.

You need to go look at the tape, he has actually done it!

No, he actually hasn't. He's a weakside run-and-chase linebacker who some people are projecting to play elsewhere. He wasn't asked to take on blocks as he would inside (and he didn't) and he made very few plays at or behind the line of scrimmage.

No, it isn't. No mater how many times you'd like to type it. You can try to attack cost or downplay the quality of whatever safety or corner you'd like. Have at it! Type until your fingers fall off.

But the undeniable fact is that you can't even get the quarterback. Not with all the money in the world...

The top sign says 'Takeaways and score'. So at least I assume we won't be drafting Ramsey.

This is pure ignorance, you have just exposed yourself for not looking at the game tape.

Jack has taken on blocks and is excellent at it because he can get off blocks with superior block deconstruction.

Jack has played all the positions in college, he has played the Mike at times with the Bruins as well.

Go learn the player properly before you further embarrass yourself.

Jack is best suited for the will but he can and has played all the linebacker positions in college at times.

His athleticism allows for this diversity and is the new type of NFL linebacker that can do it all.

If Marinelli has seriously changed our defense to we-fense that might allow us to look to more offensive players in the draft.

I should start a thread about this in the Fan Zone.

That Takeaways and Score sign was quite effective.
