Well, another GM would be accountable to Jerry, so taking away that position from him and putting in someone else, still fundamentally relies on how Jerry perceives he is doing the GM job.

A GM would not be allowed to keep his job after 12 years of futility, not with this franchise. A GM would also make some decisions with caution knowing that huge risks if they don't pay off could cost them their position.

The fact Jones wears two hats makes any decision the GM makes to carry the full and complete clout of the owner because they are one and the same.

We really do not know if Jerry meddles with the coaches or not. We are not privileged to sit in on meetings and such. The only thing we have is what we see. We see his apparent refusal to hire a HC with a back bone (Johnson and Parcells being the exception). I think strictly as a GM Jerry does a pretty good job. You can not deny his commitment to winning and his willingness to spend the money. He also seems to be loyal to a fault. If he likes you he refuses to cut ties. I hope all this no changes in the coaching staff is just a smoke screen to give him time to speak with the likes of Cowher, Stoops or Holmgren.
Going on the radio mid-season and saying that they should get the ball to TO more isn't meddling?

Thats just the the same argument worded differently brah.

Hard to ignore history no matter if the argument is worded differently...brah.

Those that ignore history, are doomed to repeat it.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome.

Again, you can spin it all you want, but the fact of the matter is, the cowboys have not won a playoff game in a LOOOONG time and we have went through multiple coaches, multiple systems, multiple players but we have had the same GM and Owner all along.

I got a response for you Fermi.

I actually do understand the general and special theories of relativity but the leap of logic he made given the knowledge base at the time is far beyong my ability.

TO is problematic. He also gives you double digit TDs and really only chirps when the team loses. The whole Werder thing was just stupid.

Oh and BTW he brokered the Walker trade, he did not just luck into it.

Oh, really? So, Me-O didn't go on a radio sports show & complain about not getting enough catchs AFTER A WIN? Also, if you have a recording of the Seattle game, watch after Witten catches a TD. While other TEAMMATES are running over to congratulate him, Me-O has his arms to his sides and his head down...and we were winning by 18 points! No jealousy here. Even though the freak has torn two other teams apart with his diviciveness, chuckleheads like you put your blinders on & blame Ed Werder. I could be totally off-base hear, but I don't think Ed Werder ever covered the 49ers or Iggles. Must have been two other reporters to blame, huh?....:lmao:

By the way, the streets are full of "genuises" with no home & no common sense, and the word "along" is spelled with an "L", not a "Y"....hehe.

Settle down. He's comparing him to a press stooge for the Baathist party, not Saddam Hussein. Jerry is not above being parodied.

Not him, hes comparing me. And I realize that no one is above that its just the choice of parody.

Really though I would like to see some specific examples of what he has done wrond and so far all I see is the 'one constant' generality BS. I just see it as fans looking for an easy answer and thus an easy fix. Its easier for them that way.

- First and foremost shouldn't have let Bill walk. Should have stepped aside, been an owner, and made Bill GM.

- He hired JG, and all but anointed him the HC, BEFORE hiring Wade as the HC. He undermined what little authority Wade was going to have at the get go. He further reenforced that giving Garret an unprecedented $3M contract to not leave, again making it quite clear Wade was on borrowed time here.

- compounding that further, when Ellis started the season behind Spencer, Ellis went to Jerry to complain. Next game Ellis started. TO did the same. And those are just the guys we know about. Jerry has a long history of coddling his players, even to the detriment of his hand picked coaches (Chan Gailey)

- He let Ireland and Sparano go to Miami. Then traded Fasano and Ferguson to them for a song, electing to keep Tank Johnson who has been less than worthless this season.

- The Roy Williams deal - should have been done in the offseason, or should have waited to sign him as a FA. THere was no reason to blow those draft picks for 10 games of Roy Williams, when another WR was not what was wrong with this team. It was a total panic move by someone who saw things going in the wrong direction and had no idea how to fix it. And it actually made things worse, because a team that already didn't have enough footballs to spread around got one more target that needed feeding.

- Went into the season with no backup QB worth a Geritol pill. You could make the argument the decision to go with Brad Johnson alone cost us the playoffs.

- How long was it before Felix got real playing time? How long before Choice even got a touch in a game? How long before they realized Brad Johnson was less than worthless and at least tried to put Bollinger in there? Yes that's on the coaching staff for failing to understand and utilize their personnel - the same coaching staff Jerry is vowing to bring back next year.

- How big is Hamlin's contract? He wasn't worth a nickel of it this year. The Barber contract was excessive too, he's good but he's not LT.

- A 4 year extension, $34M to a 35 year old wide receiver? Seriously? And that contract makes a known malcontent uncuttable, painting us into a corner if he gets really out of line this year.

- Jerry not only helped create the media circus that swirls around TO, Pacman, and later Romo and Witten - he revels in it. He even tried to sell us at some point that the team "thrives" on it. That was some thriving they did there in Philly....

- After the St. Louis debacle, Jerry became the first GM in history to dress down the team before the Head Coach. Why are they ever going to listen to Wade again?

- Was that Jerry Jones who basically called out Barber for being a wuss and not playing on his toe, and then Wade several weeks later saying they "just shouldn't have played him?" Why yes, yes it was.

I can keep going if you like.

Haven't you heard. All Jerry needs to do is fire QB coach Wade Wilson and all this team's problems, offensively anyway, will disappear. Tony Romo will go back to being a superior QB and lead the Cowboys to the promise land.
Come on Jerry, Get 'r done!:lmao2:

If Jerry sold the Cowboys and made his GM services available at a bare bones cost to the rest of the NFL, not a single team would give him a call.

On the other hand, if Parcells leaves Miami, you can bet multiple teams will inquire of him.

It's the difference between the joke out at VR and a real football guy.

The main reason this team hasn't won a playoff game in over a decade:
Jerry Jones.

:lmao2: I love it!!!!!! Seriously, though, I really do wish it wasn't true. It leaves us without much hope. I doubt he will change, and I know he won't fire himself. Maybe every fan who agrees with us should boycott the team. I mean it.

Well, it depends upon your definition of futility. If it is not winning a SB, then only six or maybe seven teams fall outside of that definition. If it's putting competitive teams on the football field, then he has been successful at that. I agree he was terrible post 90s SBs, but since then he has gotten much better. Just, because the end results aren't what are expected means he's still the same person that he was post 90s.

Perhaps JJ the GM can't be fixed by removing him as one. But, JJ at his job at GM can be, and there is evidence to support that.
