We agree. If Romo stays, I think Jerry will have made a decision that allows some competition for starting QB next season. The main thing is Jerry and Tony will make this decision and
you will not hear about it on some obscure website from someone who is dreaming up a potential scenario. Jerry is cagy but, normally he does not lie on a televised broadcast.

Thats begging for divide

Romo and Dak could co-exist as long as things are going good, like last year. However.............

What if Dak has a sophomore slump, we have seen that many times where a rookie has a monster season and then struggles in his second year after everybody has tape on him and can study him over the summer?

Just go with this for a second before you crap on this and say its not happening. Lets say Dak struggles to start the season and we are sitting at 1-3 after the first quarter of the season. Now imagine that while sitting at 1-3 we have a healthy Romo sitting on the bench playing Pokémon Go, eating nachos, texting his wife, calling his agent to make sure his check for $14 million cleared, ect...

What do you think the fans and the media are going to be discussing 24/7? That maybe Romo needs to be inserted back into the lineup since Dak is in a slump? Maybe the fans in the stadium start chanting "we want Romo". Maybe the media starts asking players if Romo needs to be back in the lineup, what are they going to say? What if 1-3 turns into 1-4, does their answers start to change?

Now, do you guys think this would be a good situation for the team?
thats simple just put romo in at that point lol.
It would not hurt dak, he has already made a place for himself, and tony wouldnt be here long even if he did start this year.
or if he took over.

But pointless to talk about , have to wait and see what the genius jones boys do.

You could be right but, at the very least Jerry said yesterday that everything in the final decision on Tony will be done by the
"do-right" rule. Jerry is not going to let anyone or any decision crap on Tony. Now maybe all these fake stories will go where
they belong.

This quote certainly helps in any trade negotiations, but there's no chance that Romo's staying in Dallas.
  • He's not sticking around to be the backup
  • They're not going to bench Prescott after his 2016 season
  • They're not going to have an open competition
But this is definitely what Jerry should be saying, and he should be telling Romo that they're not cutting him and letting another team sign him for nothing.

Squat on his rights for as long as it takes for someone to make you an acceptable offer. It's about the team and not any one player.

I dont really buy the distraction thing, he wasnt a distraction last year.
players dont buy into the media stuff, they call it noise and they ignore it.
I kno one thing. The fans are. This team doesn't need the Romo vs Dak debate next year. Whomever starts will always be looking over their shoulder.

I'm in no rush, and I hope Jerry and the Cowboys aren't either. There's no need to be at this point. Let the market and interested teams come to you.

I think most of us just understand that the pros outweigh the cons on ending his tenure here.

What are the pros that out weigh the cons?

The only con with keeping Romo is he gets hurt.
There's also a con with Dak, he comes back to earth/regress
Pro with Dak is he improves
Pro with Romo is he stays healthy and the offense improves.

Sounds like a last gasp attempt to gain a little leverage vs. teams interested in Romo.

This sounds like the Tony best interest rule.... Look I've always been a fan of Romo, but he never brought the Cowboys to the Super Bowl, while collecting a nice pay check. I'm not sure what we owe Tony at this point, but if a great deal comes along and its sending him to a team like the Browns the Cowboys shouldn't second guess the move.

LOL. Some of you are scared to death that Romo will stay and eventually win back his position.
Some of you are dreaming.

Some of us are scared alright, scared we'll waste more money and a roster spot
Fortunately we'll go in another direction, the Romo train is leaving the station, and hopefully some of you will be on board.

You need to listen to what Jerry said again, Stash. He said that there were 3 distinct ways the situation could go and one of them was Tony's outright release.

I won't argue that. But it certainly flies in the opposite direction of when he also said this:

"The best way that we can for the mutual interest of Tony and the Cowboys"

in theory, financially we are spending a normal amount on the QB position. whoever starts or the week to week discussion just needs to be dealt with and refuse to let affect the psych of the team.
both Dak and Romo have to deal with it.
i would not promise Romo anything. he has a great contract, just do his job, back up or start.
if we can trade Romo great, do not cut him just for money.
