He doesn't have a choice. He is under contract.

He has a choice retirement because he has TV opportunities out there waiting for him. He's not going to stand around on the sidelines another year just to collect a paycheck.

Quite honestly Romo and the team should BOTH be happy about that. If we believe we are contenders we should not let go of Romo unless the offer blows our socks off.
It looks to me like they either keep him or they trade him. I see no reason to just let him go. I don't know how the release speculation got started it makes no sense.

Listen to Garrett's combine press conference he said the Cowboys are going to do what's in the best interest of the team AND Tony. You don't hear coaches say that but Romo isn't just another player. Jerry plans on accommodating him because he has a lot of respect for him and he knows time is running out on Romo and he wants to play.
What is best for the team is to keep him or trade him and trading him is a gamble.

I'm not saying it can't happen or even won't happen. It would just be absolutely moronic for it to happen. Jerry might as well just cut Dak while he is at it. It makes the same amount of sense.

However, you said that he wants to play.

It's not good for the team to pay him $14M to stand on the sidelines as a backup. What's good for the team would be to either trade him for a solid draft pick that could help us land a good player or to release him and spread $19.6M over 2 seasons which would help us sign other players.

From listening to Jerry yesterday, it doesn't look like he would release him. He doesn't have to do anything. Jerry is in a good position. There is upside in keeping him and he could trade him because of the qb shortage. Denver and Houston will be a total waste next season without Romo. They have to be making some offers.

You might want to watch Jerry's interview from yesterday. He has no problem with paying Romo to stay.

Romo isn't going to be happy as the backup and it boggles the mind that some of you can't see that.

Jerry is just trying to stimulate a solid trade offer. He doesn't want to make it appear releasing Romo is a certainty if he can't trade him or teams will just wait for Romo to be released.

He does want to play as in "start" and that won't happen with the Cowboys unless Dak gets injured.
No kidding and that can happen at any time. I'll tell you again. There is a shortage of qbs in the league. The Cowboys and the Patriots are the only teams with 2. The 49ers have none and there are only 6 draft-able qbs in this draft and most of those are not ready to play at all.

I'll tell you again those of you who think Romo will remain with the Cowboys are going to end up very disappointed. The 49ers aren't going to want Romo they're a 2-14 team and he won't last the season for them. Romo will only benefit a team that's a QB away from being a SB contender. You can't look past next year with him, he's a poor investment for a team that's 2-3 years away.

I didn't say that the 49ers would want him. I just mentioned the shortage. The shortage gives more leverage to Jerry to trade Romo either this year or next. Also, the fact that Jerry doesn't really want to trade Romo gives him more leverage as well.

Jerry can sell Romo on staying with Dallas for one more season for 14 million. Believe me he can.

You mentioned the 49ers and I'm just telling you he won't end up there. If we're going to trade Romo for anything of value that could benefit us it has to be this year. Not many if any teams will trade anything of value for a 38 year old QB next season who's missed 2 full seasons and hasn't played more than 2 full games since the 2014 season. Another year of inactivity will cause Romo's stock to go even lower. Besides he's not going to want to stand around another year on the sidelines but driving that point home to you and a few others is hopeless.

You don't need to tell me. I know that he will not end up there. I also know that the 49ers are going to have to get some qbs that will take more off the table in a shortage. Supply and demand, Romo is the best qb out there regardless of his age and Jerry wants to keep him.

Jerry wants to keep him but not at his current salary and Romo isn't taking a pay cut to be our backup next season. If you have another topic you want to discuss feel free but we're done discussing Romo.

Why do you think that you are inside the mind of these people? Use some common sense.
