Sad. Once melanoma metastasizes to the spine like it did to Johnson, the first year survival rate is 10%, according to Wikipedia.

RIP. A tremendous loss to the Eagles organization.

Oddly, most people tend to minimize the danger of skin cancer...if caught early, it's controllable... if not, it's pretty damn wicked.

I didn't even know how bad he was. What a loss. Him and his family will be in my prayers.

It sort of hits home as my father has this.

RIP. Terrible loss. Give the man his due, he always had an excellent defense on the field. Stellar D-coordinator. It is just too bad that Philly couldn't just wait to appoint his replacement.

Wow a real bummer I thought maybe he would figure out a way to whip it like he did with all the offenses he faced... Rest easy now Coach

Just heard the news.

Jim Johnson was always only one of perhaps two or three Eagles whom I have ever respected and said as much on this forum often. He was an absolutely great defensive coordinator who designed blitz packages which inspired awe in both opposing offenses and fans alike. His passing is not only a hugely unimaginable loss to the Philadelphia Eagles family. His absence will be felt by the entire NFL community forever.

Rest in peace, Coach Johnson.

I'll let them know ...and I'll make sure they remember all of your kind gestures.

Thank you all.

Note to Juke 99: I remember yars ago when someone was slamming Eagle Fans, you came out of no where and said "Hey, my Mother is abn Eagles fan." That was about 3 or 4 years ago and you probably forgot, but I thought that was one of the funniest responses I've ever heard on a MB.

Anyway, stay well Juke, I will send a prayer up for you.

Wow. I did not realize he was quite that bad.

Really wish his family the best.

There is a line from a song that says something like...You know your worth when your enemies praise your architecture of aggression.

Jim Johnson without a doubt had respect even from teams and fans of bitter rivals because he was that darn good at his job and he seemed to be a class act as well.

Philly players or fans, I feel for you guys because you lost a truly great one.

May he rest in peace.
