Most Cowboys fans I would hope care about winning more than they care about giving someone who has failed as a headcoach miserably the Cowboys job simply because he was a good coordinator in dallas over 12 years ago

Here's a thought to sustain you and all the other Chicken Littles in your hour of despair:

Norv has never had a team as talented as the one he'd be taking over in Dallas... that MIGHT have some impact on his bottom line, don't you reckon??

JIMMY SAID GET NORV - that's all Demon needed to hear - Jimmy Said get him and he can turn not only Romo into what he suppossed to be BUT ALMOST AS IMPORTANT - Julius Jones around. People forget Norv is a Superior Running Game Coordinator not just QB's we have 2 damn good RB's and Norv can get the best outta them.

My ONLY concern is that we get a darn good DC.

Other than that - I haven't felt this great since Jerry pulled the trophy outta barry's hand on stage.

Who gives a crap where he is from. If Satan from the firey reaches of hell could win football games, I would be all for him coaching this team.

And yet, you're opposed to the Satan from the fiery reaches of hell of wide receivers being on the team...

Where's the consistency in THAT?? Willing to take Charles Manson as his head coach, but doesn't want Jeffrey Dahmer catching passes for the team...

Sorry man I was hoping our new coach would take us deep in the playoffs. I look at Norv and don't see it. I will be surprised if we do better than this year with Norv coming aboard.

Why don't you wait to find out who's hired as defensive coordinator before pressing that particular panic button, ol' buddy??

I have eased my hatred of TO, I can deal with him on the team if he is productive.

Well if Norv isnt available afterall lets give Rich Kotite a look then.

He got to double digit wins in a season more times than Norv did in less years as a HC.

Hey, just about anything can be justifed if you try hard enough.

I'll wait, but I know I won't be impressed sans Norv's hiring

LM,
I agree about Garrett. I am one that has said Garrett was too young and inexperienced, but given the choice of him or someone else like Norv,(brought in just to tutor him), I say go with Garrett.

Garrett worked with Gruden and Saban the last couple of years, so he has seen first hand a couple of hard a** coaches and how they run the team, the coaches meetings, etc.

i dont think he would be brought in to specifically tutor garrett. i think if norv as brought in jerry would be thinking first and foremost of the future of this team, that being tony romo. just look what norv has done for alex smith. we can all talk about the defense, but the truth being the team starts with the the qb.

Norv "The Genius" Turner, brilliant in mediocrity.

Jimma is having his revenge on Jerra.

Norv's teams have had mediocre players at best. The Commanders started scrubs at WR (Westbrook, first round bust, Connell was never any good), Scrubs at QB (Shuler and Frerotte) with an average O-Line and an average running back in Stephen Davis. Still, once he got a decent QB in Johnson, he took the Commanders to the playoffs. With the exception of Johnson and Davis, their skill players did nothing for the careers, even after Turner.

The Raiders had no offensive line and no QB.

The 49ers do not have great talent. Their offense, especially their QB was horrible prior to Turner and he turned them around in one year. He is getting a great amount of credit for that and rightfully so.

Dallas has much better talent than what was listed above right now, light years better at the skill positions. Norv wasn't my first choice, but that doesn't mean he should get the beat down because he couldn't make garbage not stink.

I have a few friends who are not Cowboys fans, but are convinced that Jones has already hired Turner, behind closed phone lines, and left him in Mobile to scout this week, instead of pulling him for an interview like he did Garrett. Hence the OC hiring perceivably without a HC. My friends/co-workers don't follow the Cowboys the way we do, but sometimes it's easier for outsiders to see the obvious.

I agree with them. But, I have a thought on this weeks interview. We all know Jerry and Norv have been friends for over 15 years. We all know that Aikman, Johnson, Irvin and a few others have thrown their support behind Turner. It seems logical to say that Jerry has already talked to Turner, as he often does, and that this is an interview more about staff than anything else.

Which brings me to what seems to be our biggest problem. Defensive Coordinator. The names have been out there, but I see three real candidates, and that is all. Campo, Bowles and Singletary. Turner is familiar with the last two. Jones is familiar with Campo and Bowles. Therefore, I think the key subject of this weeks interview will be Mike Singletary.

Turner has spent the year with Singletary, and has had plenty of time to get a good read on Single. Basically, Jones will want to know if Turner thinks he is ready to step up to it. I am all for it.

On the positive side, Single has been in Mobile all week, just like Turner. He has had close contact with all the Senior Bowl participants, and is the type of guy who takes zero crap, as was obvious by watching the practices on NFLN.

On the negative, he is inexperienced. Hence, the necessity of the interview.

I expect a Single interview before the end of next week.

This is just my opinion, but it is an educated one. Thoughts?

Good post! If it is Norv, what your friends said makes sense.

The reason I say that is the guy I spoke with a couple of weeks or so ago that was close to people in the organization and was convinced Parcells was gone even when everyone said he was coming back, said Jerry "definitely" had a plan in place. He wouldn't tell me if he knew what "the plan" was, but it was only a couple of days later that Matt Mosley posted a blog entry that first mentioned Norv and said look for Norv or possibly Jim Bates.

Since I heard about Parcells leaving, I've been trying to figure out what was Jerry's "plan". The "plan" obviously included Jason Garrett. Your friends may have just hit on it about Norv at the Senior Bowl, etc. I would bet Bowles will be the DC, but we shall see about Singletary.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it.
