Julius Jones Can Be Easily Replaced In The Draft

More of the mindless "poke and hope" strategy.

Let's bash Jones but provide nothing as a viable alternative.

Let's just complain about what we do have and call anything we don't have better.

Let's cause a team need where at present we don't have one.

I have one for you oh witty one,

Let's stick our head in the sand and proclaim the great JuJones is finally going to have a breakout year this upcoming season. :lmao2:

what do you want? names? blood types? urine samples?
We can start with names.

Know any? From there let's go with where in the Draft you'd select them.

Is this really that difficult to figure out?

If we draft Jackson what makes you think we'd have drafted Barber the next year? There is no guaranty Parcells picks him.

I can't say for sure. I'm not really in the whole hypothetical revision of the entire history of our drafts for the past 3 years mood today. ;)

Let's just say it happened.

Once again you have reading comprehension problems. He didn't proclaim Julius as great. In fact no one in this thread has.

Sorry for the cold shower but sooner or later you need to wake up and smell the coffee.

do you think lynch will be there at 22? is that our 1st rd. pick 22?

JJONES is an average running back, lets face facts.

He is a stiff as my grandmother likes to call it. he has decent speed, and has ok aglity, but even that got worse since his rookie year. he doesnt break arm tackles, and falls down on the slightest contact.

Give me a guy who doesnt fall down on firts contact, and has adequet speed, and use him and Barber as our 2 back tandem, and we will equal or even better rushing the ball.

There aren't any guarantees anywhere.

If given the opportunity, I'd rather roll the dice and get a guy like a Steven Jackson, and have Barber back him up than continue to plod along with mediocrity.

If that opportunity never arises, you do the best you can with the hand you're dealt, and hope Julius suddenly becomes dynamic. That's just not my preference for next year. But we may not have a choice.
So would I. Who wouldn't?

I'm still waiting for the realistic plan on how to improve. So far the plan seems to be one of the following...

A) Mortgage our entire draft and move up to draft Adrian Peterson. (It happens in Madden.)

or...

B) Cross our fingers and give up peeing that no one ahead of us selects Marshawn Lynch.

Good plans.

Keep laughin' genius - I guess ignorance really is bliss.

Your "brilliant" strategy is top trade away a starter for a 3rd round pick and then be forced to use your first rounder on his replacement?

Ingenius!

Who are you?

Marv Levy?

No, I think he goes to Green Bay.

What else ya got?

You get my point though. If we go back and draft player A then the next year it doesn't mean we will still draft player B.

Yes, that would be called a "plan." Honestly it isn't rocket science.

Oh good, the throw out names but don't detail how they are acquired method.I didn't see that coming.

Yeah, Jerry Jones has assured this is going to be the case.

I give up, there is no satisfying you. Let's just stick with JuJones and watch him run into the back of his guards and fall to the field.

Jones could proabably be replaced in the third our fourth round if push came to shove. All this love for Jones baffles me. Face it, Jones will be gone either this year or next, take your pick.

Check out the following link if you want to review all the prospects for yourself... http://www.gbnreport.com/2007prospects.html. I'm not going to spoon feed you every single one of them. The information is readily available for all to research, provided they have an open mind.

I think many on this board become to emotionally attached to our players and therefore overrate them. I too thought Jones was going to be special at one point. Sadly, I was mistaken.

I have learned in this thread that good starting RBs grow on trees and are easy to find in the third round and later.

I have also found out that 1200 yards is NOT a good RB. They are worthy of a 4th, maybe a third. But they are easily replaced by taking someone in the mid rounds.

Here's plan C

Hope Lynch falls, if he falls enough, draft him, or trade up at most 3 spots to take him. (or don't trade up at all, fine either way.) If he does, we're set. If he doesn't, we still have Julius, and we know we'll at least be average next year.

And there's a good many things that are worse than average.

They say Lynch is good. I wouldn't know. But if "they" are right, and "he" is there, I'll throw another 2004 inspired tantrum if we pass him up.

Unless it's for Dwayne Bowe. I'm torn.

Pull and post where I said trade him for a 3rd rounder...the fact is you can't. Get your facts straight before slamming me. Who are you? Vinny Cerrato? :laugh2:
Although, the more I think of it, a 3rd rounder is probably all we'd get for JuJones.

That would apply to some people. But in reality, that's just how this board is. You can't just throw out "Player A sucks" and think that it won't be challenged on all levels. The people here will argue the length of lint on carpet. So you have to be ready for that when you put yourself out there.

I will say though, that the one thing you've mentioned and some others in other threads that I agree with is that Julius needs to become more consistent. Maybe that can be attributed to the OL as well as his play, but that's something I'd like to see.

I understand your point, and it makes sense.

I just think it's kind of pointless to speculate either way. Barber isn't really a factor in my feelings on Julius. I don't want him to be the starter, although I feel he's earned the right to compete. I want A guy, or at least two guys, wherein the first guy can average more than 4.1 ypc and not gain 0 or negative yardage on close to 30% of his carries.
