Dak is what he is. What he ain't is an elite QB. Sorry, but tons of yards when down by 3 scores in the 4th quarter just doesn't make one elite....especially when the comebacks always seem to come up short. I attribute some of that to a gutless, lay-down defense as well (being in that position).

Fair point. But he alone was not enough to win ( and I get it, no one wins alone)...but the other parts of that team playing at a high level was needed to win. And that is all I am saying about the situation in Dallas. Dak is not good enough for the team to decline in the areas we have declined in. So with cap room...and there were players in free agency that could help us...I am not understanding why Jerry did not try to build off the momentum from last year. I think he thinks Dak and Zeke are paid well (and they are) to carry the team...but Zeke is not that guy anymore, especially with a declining OL...and Dak is not that guy without the support of a running game and good weapons. And no amount of money you pay him will change that.

Thats what happens with guaranteed money, and that is common language with all the top contracts these days, its all about the guaranteed money, great for the player of course, but means as a franchise you get stuck with a huge dead cap hit if you try and shorten the term and get out, talking Zeke here primarily, Dak has no trade no tag clause, so better get used to our franchise choice at QB for a while.
There is certainly no reason why Dak shouldnt be successful with this offense, there have been several investments made, like the number 1 pick.
This OL will be better than last season.
We have a veteran returning backfield with Zeke and Pollard, lets not devalue the familiarity aspect and importance.
Schultz was franchised for a reason, you better have a good pass catching TE, and you keep them.
CD Lamb gets knocked around for hands, but just think he is that quick twitch athlete, once he figures this out and gets dialed in and comfortable with carrying the WR1 moniker, than he can be a dynamic deep outside threat, just need to get the timing down with Dak.
Nobody likes to read long posts so I wont even start breaking down all the potential homeruns we have manifesting in the shark tank at WR depth.

Those are not guys you build around, those guys are final piece types. We're not in the position for those types.

You build around parsons. How much better would parsons be learning from Wagner or Von Miller. They are final pieces for sure. Final pieces to take your defense to the next level when your offense is possibly going to take a big step back until they get in sync. Those are the defenses that can carry a team

Sorry, I just don't see it that way at all.

A second year QB isn't changing the play at that stage of a SB.
Because of that, there are no other options. The play is designed for the ball to hit the QB's hands & be thrown instantly to a spot. Which is exactly what he did.

Any blame goes to Pete but as I said earlier the play call is fine. It scores against anyone but the Patriots who had identified the tendency. So rather than lay blame, I take my hat off to them for figuring it out. That is the very definition of winning before the game is even played. Which is a huge reason the Pat's have been so succesful this century.

Oh please Daks deep balls are more often under thrown. The receivers have bailed him out more often than not on a lot of those throws. Probably can count on one hand how many times he has dropped the ball where it didn’t require the receiver to break and adjust

I don't mind long posts at all. I enjoy football. I enjoy the "science" of football. But at the end of the day, I don't see how we got better. I hope I am wrong.

I don't have a problem with Dak getting paid. It is what it is. But just because you paid him...that does not mean his performance equates to his paycheck. Jerry should KNOW this. Just because Dallas is the most highly valued franchise in all of sports...that does not mean the product on the field is the cream of the crop. Jerry is reluctant to pay people because he is not sure their performance will equal their paycheck...but he has no problem stuffing his pockets with all the money he can, all the while the performance of his team does not reflect the franchise value.

Dak is who he is. His ceiling is Russell Wilson. BUT. BUT. You have to have the right pieces around him. Coaching, the Legion of Boom, the running game and defense allowed Russell Wilson to be the best version of himself and he maximized his potential and had a couple of Super Bowl runs. Why would we take the #1 offense in the NFL last year....and downgrade the WRs corps by a lot? The Oline is downgraded. The RB position is downgraded (Zeke is who he is at this point...and you don't get better as you age). Mike McCarthy is no Pete Carrol. And AT&T stadium is not the homefield advantage that Seattle had.

We have seen Dak without WRs before. It was not pretty. We are trying something that has already failed. Teams are going to load the box and force Dak to beat them with Lamb and (3rd round rookie, USFL star, undrafted rookie etc...). We will try to run into a loaded box. Get into predictable 3rd and longs when the run is stuffed. And be under a lot of pressure to convert unfavorable down and distances multiple times per drive. Oh, I forgot to mix in a penalty from the OL. Like I said, we have seen this before, it is not rocket science. Oh, I almost forgot, we will probably put up enough yards to appear.....

I cannot take this team seriously. I knew not to take them seriously when I witnessed the comedy club act at McCarthys signing. Then he immediately went to work proving to be the clown we now know he is. The one thing Jerry had done over the Garrett years and now McCarthy... is keep enough talent on the field to give off the appearance of a title team in SPITE of the coaching. But the one thing you HAVE to have when your talent on the field is AVERAGE....is good coaching. And going into this season, I seriously question the talent on the field. And we now know it was not McCarthy in Green Bay, it was Rodgers. And I don't care what stats Dak has/will put up...he ain't Rodgers.

Fair point. Without re-hashing everything. I am of the belief that I have a pretty good idea of what dak needs to be successful. And think we have downgraded a team that fell short last year. And I believe Jerry thinks Daks paycheck should mean he can take a lesser talented team far because of how much he is being paid. That is Jerry's right to THINK that is how it works, but that is not how it works in sports. Especially in a team sport like football

Aaron Rodgers has played some incredible play off games and has been let down by his team. Arizona Cardinals from memory was one of the great performances but his defense was gash. He carried them to overtime yet they lost without him even having an opportunity to touch the ball and some bell-ends blame him for the loss.

Yes, it's a team game. Brady has been given the ball back again and again and again by his defenses over the years. He even made a pick 6 in the Superbowl yet was given the ball so many times he finally got it done. He's fantastic and an amazing QB - the greatest but if Rodgers had that type of defense every season like Brady had then he rips an arseh0le out of the opposition as well.

Dak was given the ball a fair few times in nice throwing conditions to win the game vs the 49ers but lacked the ability/quality/mind-set or whatever it took yet some continue to believe he can win a Superbowl. Hilarious.
