This teams problems have little to do with Garrett. It doesn't matter who coaches this team. As long as Jerry's running football operations the team is doomed to failure. Can't deny the facts.

I don't deny that either.

But I also don't deny that Garrett isn't bringing anything in the way of on-the-field coaching that's helping things either.

Garrett is a robot. I'm not feeding into The Ticket stereotype but it is true. He has a process. His offense and schemes are predictable. He gets out coached because he doesn't adjust and sticks to a gameplan, despite it not working. The Hallmark of Garrett teams the last 2 years has been the offense sputtering for 3 quarters and then turning it on. And yet he can't find an adjustment for that. The guy isn't HC material. Heck I don't even think he is OC material. The guy is a QB coach. I don't dislike him, I just don't think he has what it takes....so take him and his plan.

I think you nailed it here.

I say go to the source, fire garrett, but that's just me.
If you really want to go to the source, fire the owner… but that won't happen.

IMO, JJ will be desperate enough to let someone implement a structure, an attitude, an identity, like Parcells attempted to do.
JJ wants to win, this I know. This is our only saving grace to seeing a Super Bowl anytime soon.

agreed

even this might be stretching it a little
if fired today, garrett is certainly not getting another job in the NFL as HC or OC

i would hazard a guess that an NFL franchise with Garrett as HC or OC will not win a SB in the next 5 years

Garrett has a LOT of learning to do to be an effective OC/HC

I disagree. Jerry the GM hasn't given Garrett the players needed to win in the NFL. Our offensive and defensive lines are horrible. Becasue of that we can't stop the run or run the ball. You don't win in the NFL with this type of team. Garretts playing the cards he's been dealt with. Pass, pass, pass because we can't run. Defense can't put pressure on the QB or stop the run.

That doesn't mean the offense is efficient. 35 of those points came from special teams and defense. Not counting the numerous times the offense was in great field position due to a turnover forced by the defense or Harris having a great punt return.
YR

teams ranked above us also benefited from defensive scores

I don't think the offensive line is 'horrible' at all, far from it. And this from someone who has been highly critical of the group in the past.

Why we've actually tried to run the ball, we have. We simply have coaches who show no interest in it or commitment to it.

If you want to claim injuries have ruined the defensive line, I can buy that. But the same can't be used as an excuse for the offense.

Garrett is not bringing anything of tangible impact as it relates to wins and losses, that's why this team stays at .500 while beating the bad teams and losing to the good ones.

Enough talented playmakers at key positions, but coaches getting schooled whenever the talent ratio is close.

Garrett and Company bring nothing to help this team win on Sundays, and that's why they don't.

Troy Aikman was asked on his Ticket show yesterday about our talent and if we overrate it, and he said it may be overrated by some a little bit, but that he believes this is a genuinely talented team, especially on offense. And he said opposing coaches tell him the same thing when he does his show prep for Fox each week. He even specifically said that our offensive line wasn't bad at all this year.

Now obviously our defense has been hit hard by injuries this year, but there's no excuse for the offense. And even there he said Cowboys fans underestimate how many injuries other teams have to deal with.

Seriously.

Somebody even has a list.

None of the folks in positions of power within this organization have them based on merit.

Nobody has earned anything.

Jerry has his only because he owns the team.

Stephen has his because his last name is Jones.

And Garrett owes every one of his to the fact that his and the Jones families get along well.

He didn't earn his promotion to offensive coordinator, nor did he earn his promotion to head coach, nor did he earn the right to keep it.

or get promoted for doing a bad job at your previous position

exactly at what job has garrett done a stellar job

nondescript QB coach in miami?
forgettable OC in dallas?
bad HC in dallas?

now he should be promoted to GM becasue 'he has an eye for talent'?

in what bizarro world or alternate universe?

I'm beginning to think that Lacewell's close ties and influence on Jerry has masked Jim's close ties and influence on Jones, to he extent Lacewell can be considered a 'scapegoat' to the Garrett family, as far as blame goes around... Both these clowns 'retired' in 2004, only to come back after Parcells left.

Everything is a myth around Garrett. For example' it's claimed he learned under Norv. This inept QB came to the Cowboys in Norv's last year because of daddy. What is he going to learn from Norv during a year he's riding the pine and not even known in the organization. He spent more time under the likes of Barry Switzer and Erni Zampese, then the greats like Jimmy Johnson. He was more a part of the decline of the Cowboys then the ascent and glory.

The guy spent 2 years under Cad Cameron as a coach. The guy's offense is more in line of a Martz, Detroit offense, and Cad Cameron, everybod hates you in Baltimore offense, then anywhere near Norv.
