To say that Rush should be protected (and not be the #2 QB because if it) is really flawed logic. Dak was thrown directly into the fire last year and he did well. Rush has performed similarly.

Part of the reason young QBs are ruined by playing too soon is that they are usually playing behind a ****** OL. We don't have that problem so there is no reason not to give a young QB playing time if he gives you the best chance to win.

They're placing more importance on what they think is best for long term development of Rush than they are on who's more likely to finish out a game successfully.

Personally, I think Rush would be the better player to start if Prescott were to miss multiple games. Knock on wood that doesn't happen. As for finishing a single game, a lot would depend on the game situation, but I see why the coaches would prefer a veteran to a rookie in that situation. Both when it comes to his ability to play with limited preparation reps and in order to preserve a young player and not put him in a very challenging situation with a high likelihood of failure without what most coaches would consider adequate preparation for a rookie NFL debut.

The mental toughness of a QB is important. A backup should always be ready to go in and play. Rush would be no different. To think differently is a losers mentality.

More importantly if a rookie comes in the game in relief, the defense hasn't game planned for him so that also an ADVANTAGE.

it's all good. Moore won't see the field. They saved the promising rook that would have been snatched up like Beer line coupons and developed to either take over some day or fetch an handsome reward. The evil plan worked to perfection. If Dak goes down I don't think Rush is ready to be thrown to the wolves. You're gonna love this...."It's a process"..:lmao: Championship!

I never said teams lined up for him. YOU said no one would bid on him because he sucks, which is the non-reality part of this thread that you can't back up. You have absolutely no clue what Moore's agent did or did not do or what phone calls he fielded (or not).

My goodness. You can't really be serious? Right? Why would Kellen Moore turn down true number 2 QB money (millions) to come back to the Cowboys for the vet minimum after they cut him?

Rush would be walking into a lion's den. He'd be in the fetal position in two series. He's not ready yet.

Most would have said the same thing about Dak last year, but that was not the case.

Sounds nice, but it's impractical in practice.

And in no way is it an advantage to send a rookie QB in cold against a defense that's gameplanned for the offense and knocked out the starter.

Dak played four seasons as a starter in the SEC against dozens and dozens and dozens of NFL caliber players.

Cooper played at a small school against almost nobody.

I like your posts a lot and always read with interest. But here in regards Moore on the street I heard of zero rumors of other teams interest. IMO,Moore is a specialized commodity specially designed and developed by Linhand.
He's Linhand's software without the adequate hardware.

I totally agree that Moore is a creation of Linehan and not a starting caliber QB. My point above on him not being claimed was because everyone knew he was going back to the Cowboys so whatever limited interest there was in him would disappear knowing that A) he wouldn't take your minimum offer and B) you would lose your own version of Noah Brown to bring him onto your roster.

My main (only) point in this thread is that Moore is a capable bus driver backup and the posts that he "couldn't play for a high school team" are wrong.

When did anyone (especially me) say Moore would get "millions" in salary signing elsewhere? Mark Sanchez had 70 NFL starts and got a 2 Million salary last year and this year, who would pay Moore that much?

Link or it didn't happen.

it really don't matter which one is number 2 if dak goes down for a long period of time it will time to start the draft shows

Nope...Moore is a 1-2 game emergency stopgap early in the season. He's capable of finishing a game, or even starting one. Anything more than that and Dallas will be signing another vet to come in. Later in the season, Rush might be able to handle it. Right now, no.

I don't necessarily agree with this approach, but I understand why the staff thinks that way. You guys that keep Brian Ning up Dak are not being realistic. For every Dak Prescott we've seen there have been 10 Heath Shulers - young QBs whose careers were ruined because they were asked to do too much before they were prepared for the NFL.

This staff is actually looking out for Rush's best interests.

Whatever reason? The reason is because Noodles is a terrible player.

Objectively do you not feel that the move is a mistake?

For me the opportunity cost is depth at LB. Only thing I can fathom is the new Elliott is there to backup SAM so Wilson can move over in case of further injury. That just sounds like a nightmare.

No, I don't think it's a mistake when you consider the depth of his realistic role on the team. In all likelihood, Moore is an "emergency" veteran QB...capable of finishing a game if Dak goes down. I don't, for one second, believe that Moore would automatically be named the starter in Dak's absence. If the situation calls for a new starter, I think you'll see Dallas sign another vet, just as when Parcells signed Vinny Testaverde. Moore is a relief pitcher, not the next man up in the starting rotation.
