I think there are substantial advantages for Dallas. They have a history with problem guys. They have a history of success with UDFAs. They have a brief history of success on the OL. They have the biggest brand in sports. Because of their prominence and the talent of the group, guys on their OL are as well known as any in the league. Now whether those are what the player is looking for and what sort of pitch, if any, the team is making will ultimately determine where he goes. That being said, I think Dallas has as good of a chance as anyone.

He'd be the backup if he came here. And he'd also have to beat out either Chaz Green or Ronald Leary next year for a starting job. He's a 1st round talent who would be the immediate starter on most teams. This is a guy who was gonna refuse to play if drafted after the 2nd round so that he could join the draft next year. He also probably doesn't view himself as a problem person. He's not gonna come to Dallas to sit on the bench for 1-2 years so that Jerry can help him with his personal demons.

He almost assuredly would be a starter year 2 at the latest and if he signed here, I would tell him he had every opportunity to win a starting job in camp, be it LG or RT. If he's smart he should sign with the team with the best shot of winning the SB and has an opportunity to start relatively soon. He should also take in to account which teams have a habit of extending players early. The $ will be the same everywhere, save for maybe an extta 10-20k signing bonus. Dallas offers a chance at all 3 of those things and he gets the added bonus of playing with 3 other All-Pro talent OL(I realize Fred hasn't been All-Pro but he has that kind of talent).

His agency said again this morning that he's going to meet with the police on Monday, then talk to teams after that. It's been reported that some teams are convinced he didn't do it after making their own investigations. The guy also passed a lie detector test. Poor guy.

Unfortunately no matter how innocent you are, there are still people out there that believe your guilty. Now I can see why he wanted to re-enter the draft next year. Thats because he believed he deserved to be selected in the 1st round because he didn't do anything wrong to begin with.

I find it hard to believe that he won't be the starter at RT from day one, midseason at the latest.

Not everyone picked as a first round grade be it media and/or scouts are quality starters or even contributors. Having said that he looks like a very good risk on and off the field. Pay him a decent contract with incentives and a make good deal down the road if and when. But it is a mistake to think he will walk on a NFL team and start because someone says he's a can't miss guy. Being drafted in the first actually gives him some time to grow. He'll have to perform to stay on the field now. In my book, that's a better deal for the team.

I am really hoping it happens.

This whole thing has been weird. The guy's stock goes from top 15 to undrafted all because the police want to talk to him but do not consider him a suspect? It doesn't make sense. This should only be happening if he is a suspect.

If Collins is innocent he got absolutely screwed.

Come to Dallas. Please. It would be an embarrassment of riches lining him up with the rest of this offensive line. If I would have told you a month ago that we were going to get Byron Jones, Randy Gregory and La'el Collins from this draft people would have considered it impossible. With good reason.

Definitely doesn't pass the smell test and/or he got incredibly stupid advice including from himself.

There isn't a doubt in my mind that if the Cowboys target him it'll get done. That's what has me losing my mind over this. He's there for the taking should we want to do it.

Its not a need but its a clear upgrade with a top prospect. We just can't let this go.

Yeah...LOL @ having to "beat out" Ronald Leary and Chaz Green. This is a blue chip talent on par with the big 3 on our OL.

Yea, some here are talking about him like he's a marginal first round talent who may or may not get the starting nod his first year or two. Green has potential, but he is nowhere near the talent Collins is. If he were, he would've gone in the first. Leary and Free have played well for us, but Leary has a serious injury concern. He was a udfa because of these concerns even though he had a 3rd round grade on him. Some wanted Free replaced just a few seasons ago. Heck, even last year when he got hurt some thought that Parnell was on the same level as Free. If some felt that Parnell was as good as Free, then there's no doubt that Collins will be able to beat him out of a job in TC and do so handily.

Even if the cowboys feel that we are fine without him, we can sign him and flip him for a high pick. We need to seriously start thinking about grooming Romo's replacement starting next year. If we want a top prospect like Hackenburg, we'll need ammunition to move up.

The rumor is he is first round talent but historically than has been problematic. But I agree he appears to be a step up.

You cannot ignore summary grades on players because there are good reasons scouts put them out there. You cannot depend on them to always reflect reality either.

Serious question here are the Cowboys rumored to have interest in him?

I don't think any team's shown any interest yet. That's not to say there isn't any, it's just that teams are understandably reluctant to say anything because of the sensitive nature of the situation.

Another reason why we should seriously consider this is to play keep away from divisional rivals.

Thanks appreciate the response.

At the end of the 3rd day, Broaddus was claiming they were contemplating taking him in the 7th round. So it does appear there is interest.

Well if they somehow get him that would give this team 3 surefire talents coming out of this draft. Would be pretty amazing.
