The only point I’m trying to make, he’s on the roster, find a way to use him. Or get rid of him.

He threw some pretty ugly balls in preseason when he had his chance. I don’t like either one of them. Both have their strength.

Sure but we know he can at least manage the offense in the regular season because he’s done it before.

I still don’t think embarrassment is the right word Potential, I see a ton of it. I just don’t see anybody having enough patience for it to develop.
Sorry, but players with a ton of potential don’t stink up the place in a preseason game against backups in their 4th season.

I’m sure he’s embarrassed by his performance. I believe Jerry should be embarrassed that he traded for the guy. I don’t think Lance himself is an embarrassment though: he’s giving it his best shot, no shame in that, he just doesn’t have it.

He has a 4-4 record as a starter already.

On another note

There is an ESPN employee in his bosses office answering a politically incorrect question right now.

They need to find a way to use him, or get rid of him. He could definitely run sweeps.

yes. why does everything turn into a dak conversation? this was about Lance...but I get it!

and btw, if we don't win a superbowl, CD was a bad investment, Lawrence was a bad investment, if Parsons is paid, then he was a bad investment, steele was a bad investment, and on and on and on.

unless you think its all on Dak and nobody else bears any responsibility?
At some point, don’t elite QBs carry teams to wins? Is Dak elite. According to many he is.

Now isnt the time to worry about Lance’s development. It’s time to focus on winning games. If Dak gets hurt and has to leave a game Cooper Rush gives a much better chance to win.

No. Teams win games. Not 1 player.

Mahomes did not win the SB. His team won the SB. Actually the Niners gave them the SB on a muffed punt and a missed extra point.

wouldn’t surprise me if Lance is QB2 next year and Rush moves on. He has time now that Dak is signed. A lot depends on how season turns out and if they keep Coach around for another few years.

No matter what eventually happens with him - trade, long term backup, future starter etc. - Lance needs snaps in blowouts like yesterday.

Also, he has potential to be useful on special plays and inside the 10.

Cooper Rush can still be the starter in case Dak is injured for a few games. But we don't need to see him hand the ball off and take a knee when we're 26 points ahead In the fourth quarter.

We invested in him. We should use some game time to develop him.

He might Levis a game for us.

He has had plenty of time to develop and hasnt. At this rate he will have to play until he is 86 to be a league average #2 QB

Why should we make him a #2 now? The only reason we didnt cut him is because we traded a 4th for him. If we traded anything less , he wouldn't even be on tje PS

Wouldn't we prefer a 2nd QB who could actually win a game should Dak exit? That's not Lance but Coop has proven he can. I'm all for developing a 3rd QB and think every team should have a player they're trying to develop. That said Lance has been through two different organizations and still hasn't. Zero issues with Dallas taking a chance on him, but I'd move on after the season and wish him the best. Resign Coop a proven commodity and try developing another QB from somewhere in the draft or free-agency. Lance was worth a shot, it just didn't pan out.

Very few teams are trying to find ways to use their 2nd or 3rd string QBs in a game unless there are injuries to their respective starting QB.

That’s because they’re quarterbacks are going to be used as quarterbacks. Trey Lance is used for trade bait.

Only 2 reasons Lance stays on the squad this year
1 - Emergency backup if both Dak and Cooper get hurt. (It's how Dak got his 1st start remember).
2 - No one offers anything for him this year, and why would they ? He's a free agent after this year, Dallas is not offering him a Vet contract. We will keep Rush and start drafting late round QBs.
Lance will be on a different team next year/experiment over.
