At the end of the day. He will be cut. So trade talks are pointless lol. There is no way Minnesota keeps him at that price

I am hoping AZ backs away. Minn cuts him. They aren't paying him that money.
AP, goes home to Texas. AP realizes the Cowboys are a better match for all kinds of reasons.

He comes down a whole lot, and we come up a few.....were going to have to pay a little something though.. he is going to have to bend. something like a 2 year contract and make sure we aren't on the hook for any money come year 3.

That gives Romo and Witten and the team , a better shot at a SB these next two years.

Yes, we have a chance without him, but who doesn't think we have a significantly better chance with him?.....Imagine AP behind a that strong young OLine? Maybe even extends Romos career.

AP and our line, that really is All Day. And give AP breaks , since he is 30, with DMacfadden and Williams? whoever.....

Thats how I want this to play out. I know the money will be more then we want to pay the RB position, but considering Romos age and the fact its AP. I would take that chance....at some point , you have to take a chance, right? Just make sure we arent on the hook for any money in year 3.....

I might go 3rd............. might. But 4th is where I am comfortable.

2nd and 3rd? Go jump in one of your thousand lakes, Minny.

I don't understand how anyone can want to give up draft picks for AP and pay him what he'll demand instead of retaining Murray. Makes zero sense to me.

It makes no sense which is why AP isn't coming to Dallas. What a stupid move to allow Murray to walk due to money then give up a #2 and #3 for a 30 year old back and have to pay them a lot of money.

Career Projections for the next 5 years = Rookie 2nd round RB > Peterson

That's great if championships were won by the RB's stats over a 5 year period. AP behind our line might take the team, bad defense and all, to a super bowl. I'm willing to risk a 3rd rounder to sit back and watch for the next three years.

4th this year along with a 3rd next year.

You would do that and and pay him $25M guaranteed which is the amount that's been rumored he's looking for? That's more guaranteed money than Murray just got.

KJJ I respect you and enjoy all your posts. But I can't see how you can say with any certainty that AP has no shot of being in Dallas. I'd say it is unlikely, but I would never say never after what we've seen in the NFL this past week.
Now, if you are only speaking of Dallas trading for him.....then I would agree it isn't happening, but I thought I also read earlier you saying he would not be on this team. Again, I would say its unlikely....but I do think there is a chance he is eventually cut by the Vikes.

um, no

no tradesies....if they don't cut him, they get a disgruntled back for $13m with even larger numbers looming...they are going to cut him....the problem with him is that then he is up for bidding wars (much like murray was)...

the only thing I do agree with is the comparison of Gurley+contract compared to Peterson+contract...the Peterson side of that still gets a first round pick...

Man, if I'm making the decisions, I'm not giving up ANYTHING, and if he won't play for 24m over three years with 12m in guarantees, he's not playing on my team. He's 30. He hasn't played in a year. He has OTF baggage and injury history. People make a huge deal out of Murray's load in 2014. AP has 2054 carries under his belt.

Yeah, I might give a 6th or lower. thats it. and AP is going to have to come down somewhat and restructure that contract. Will we have to pay more then we had slotted for RB, but I wouldn't be giving draft picks up.....no way.

I'm almost 100% positive AP would break the rushing record running behind this o line. Easy.

Murray set a couple of rushing records one an NFL rushing record and another a franchise rushing record and the Cowboys fell 2 games short of the SB because they need to get better defensively. With a strong RB draft coming up in 6 weeks that's where the Cowboys will be looking to replace Murray. If they had any thoughts of trading for Peterson something would have already gone down and they wouldn't have signed McFadden.

Ask for too much and say, "look, nobody else values you the way we do. Come on back to Minnesota".
