Let's all just get it off our chest; Carp was a bad draftpick

Does anyone else think it's funny that there are only two threads on the front page with star ratings - and they were started by the same person?

:)
Just start a thread that someone or something on the Cowboys sucks, and the controversy begins.

The Greg Ellis experiment has blunted Carp's playing time/development. If Carp is not on the field in 2007, that's when you can start to worry.

The best part is that we don't HAVE TO have Carpenter start because we have a solid group of guys in front of him. Having rookies start is not always a sign that they are great, or having guys not start is not always a sign they suck. Coaches start or do not start guys for many reasons. I believe that BP is using him exactly the way he intended.

Yup. Thats why it always cracks me up when it's pointed out how many rookies are starting for team X. Other than for informational purposes, who cares.

An organization can start as many rooks as they might want. If they want to start a number of them to make it look like they had a good haul.. so be it. ;)

As far as Carpenter, obviously it's too early to draw any conclusions. Whether a person was giddy (or not) at the time of the pick, and/or as of today.

Without me, this board sucks. :D

LOL. The INT hit him in the face. He had little to do with that. Just stand there and not drop it. As for two tackles.....:)

I love EJ, but he has a long way to go in his development.

So do you actually have a point?

Bobby Carpenter could turn into the next Dan Morgan....or the next Scott Shanle

Let's give him oh, say, a single play in a meaningful game before we pass judgement?

I hope he pans out, but I agree it's not looking good.

Other than Brady James and Demarcus Ware, your first round draft pick at #18 should at the very least be really really pushing the starters for playing time.

NO excuses.

Wow! So you are expecting a rookie to impress you who plays on the strongest position on the team, moving from olb to ilb, before the season starts?

I agree with Qdraw a little...
I was expecting Carpenter to be ready to contribute some by the opener...
He was suppose to be very NFL ready .( I wanted Manny)

Position change in my opinion is an excuse..Ware made a bigger Position change than Carp and you could see immeadiatley he had star written all over him...

I do not see Carp as a star maybe a solid player down the road but not a star and he dose nothing to take the Dallas D to the next level this year...

that being said I still like what the Boys did in the draft, If MQ is going to be as good as Parcells thinks Than LT is sewd up for the next 10 years , so we have nothing to complain about and I agree with Parcells "Dosent matter where you get Good players .Just so you get them."

For all the people that wanted Manny, you are totally contradicting yourselves. Parcells himself said they thought Lawson was a couple of years away and they drafted Carpenter because he could contribute sooner.

So, throw the Lawson comparision out the window because they'd be in the same boat.

I just didn't think his performance the other night was any sort of indicator of huge progress over the years. I didn't think it was that impressive.

Thats exactly what I am saying....
Carp suppose to be NFL ready and contribute right away( He is NOt)

Lawson suppose to be a year away.( he will contribute right away)

I watched alot of Lawson this preseason and he looks good , real good.

I do think Carp will be a good NFL player but not an elite NFL player....
I dont think he is a TNew,Ware,Canty ,Roy or even a SPears but I do think he will be solid ...
But with the push we are making this year I was hopping we found another Ware not tools wise but talent wise...

So much for the 3 year rule.

we'll be old men by then. And have saggy eyes. Hairy backs. Hair in our ears, noses and throats. Football will be called Zagblot and will be played by 300 foot tall martians.

Time is of the essence.

I'd just like to see him get fired up more and show a little emotion. He seems very business like when he plays. Tackles a guy...gets up...walks away kinda bored.

No arm pumping...no high five...no muscle flexing...no attittude.

Cmon Carp...it's in the game!
