I don't think anyone will say that. I would hope nobody would be saying much of anything after one game, regardless of what happens. It's a long season, and week 1 is probably the least indicative of what kind of team you'll end up being.

I don't think Dallas will win soundly either.

I don't think Dallas will win.

Hope I'm wrong on the last 2.
You do realize this is Cowboyszone, right?

If we win people will say it's not a real test. It's a bit similar to you making excuses for Dez even though there is strong evidence that Dez was his own worst enemy.

Excuses work both ways....if they lose there will be the usual excuses of "it's only the first game", "they need time to develop chemistry", "the refs cost us" etc.

I get people can't stand "haters" but the call outs of haters magnify the hate. Just offer a different opinion if you disagree with a negative opinion.

Haters typically don't create call out threads or initiate arguments with homers. They typically try to stick with football while homers are occupied with the hater's opinions. What do you think the board would be like if the haters proactively attacked homers because of their opinions?

Pot meet kettle.

Didn't make any excuses for Dez.

I don't think people will say that. I think some people have it in their heads that there is always some talk about tests and they keep bringing it up, but I don't really see people actually saying it.

Here is what typically happens and I'll use your words...someone will say "garrett sucks and should be fired". When the hater says that, it infuriates some homers and someone will call the poster out instead of arguing that Garrett is a good head coach and should not be fired.

That is what "normally" happens. It happens that way much more often than a hater proactively calling out a homer for their positive take. Hell, you have one poster here who gets off on going around calling people haters. His name is that of a beer.
I guess we have to agree to disagree....

Shouldn’t be any excuse. I have nothing personal against Garrett but imo he shoulda been fired in 2010, maybe even earlier. Hes been on this coaching staff since 08 and hasnt sniffed a nfc title game. Hes outlasted Romo, witten, bryant, bailey, ware, murray, possibly frederick, lee and tyron he either gets to a nfc title game or be dismissed

When the Cowboys beat Carolina, soundly, and they will, how long before some doofus says yeah but Carolina doesn't count because it wasn't a "real test." Their first real test will be in "week ?".
1. The refs
2. Roger Goddell
3. Our polite fans
4. NFL scheduling
5. Injuries
6. Bad scouting
7. We belong in the west
8. Our women don't shut up during games and we can't concentrate
9. Nightclubs that ruin our players
10. Federal weed laws

Be best, Cowboys!

Honestly, I'll be expecting a battle that may likely extend a serious challenge for this team to leave victoriously.

Our challengers will be obliged to extend their efforts to the best of their capabilities to exit Carolina with a "W."

The way that the NFL is conducted these days, the calls leave the game in charge of the officials. God, help us.

I thought this was going to be a thread on the excuses why Dallas lost the game to Carolina. I am glad you are confident. I have my doubts they will win playing at Carolina without our starting center and safety. Dak does not normally do well against teams that blitz a lot. Vegas has Carolina favored by 3.

Will you be making excuses when Garrett loses the game with no game plan and poor game management? Here's one...

"How do you expect them to compete or win when 1 offensive lineman (Frederick) is missing?"

While there’s room for all types of fans, if you’ve ever attended a game you’d of observed all kinds. Not everyone you’d embrace but they all have the right to pursue their passions however they choose regardless of how it effects us.

I’ve found that ignoring or shrugging off those you’d rather not sit next to or invite over to the house is a less confrontational situation. In other words rising above instead of lowering yourself to their level.

Social Media of course provides the annoymous setting where indirectly bashing is more common place without getting slugged in the face or beer thrown on you but it’s still waste much too much time in a forum setting as such.

In the end I think most fans are more likely to gravitate to opinions and conduct similar to theirs and listen to the analysis of critics more than the cheerleaders who serve an important part.
Go Cowboys!!
no question its a phenomena in all groups of people
