I though this might be a good thread but changed my mind.

Ok... fair enough. My point is do we give him preseason game #2? Allow him to play with other starters? Or have we already defined his career?
Of course we continue to see how he comes along.

I just look at the athleticism on display. What is there to work with? And he got to play against scrubs, which by definition, are not his pedigree by draft grade.

He got manhandled. And he didn't look any more athletic than anyone else.

Weeks 1 and 2 of last season. I remember at least one post, maybe two. But it was a tiny minority.
It was more than 1 or 2 post. There were threads dedicated to Zeke not being worth the pick. They were saying Alfred Morris was the best back and should be starting.
It was crazy but enough people were married to their side of the RB vs CB debate that they carried it over and seemed to be looking for a reason to say they were right.

Try a few searches from back after the 1st and second game last year. Funny stuff...

Now I don't think this has anything to do with Taco. None of us can know at this point if Taco is going to be good or not. Heck at this point I don't think even Taco could guarantee he will ever be a probowl level DE...

Heck last season only 5 DE's had more than 10 sacks. With the top guy having 12.5........ Dominating DE's just don't happen anymore. The spread offenses and OT talent have taken them out of the game it appears. The sack specialist are coming from the 3-4 OLB position these days. These guys with speed have an advantage getting around the edge that an every down typical 4-3 DE just doesn't have.

The game is meaningless. The score is meaningless.

It's the Super Bowl for the rookies as individuals. I'm concerned that our first-round pick, who should look dominant against scrubs, looked worse than the scrubs.

Get a hold of yourself man.

Re-read all of your posts in this thread, and then consider that we're talking about a handful of snaps by a player in his 1st ever live NFL game.

It is literally re-tarded to try and make any conclusions about his overall ability/potential based on last night....yet you can't control yourself.

That is different than calling him a bust.

All fair points. In fairness, I didn't isolate his play when watching last night. I'll be re-watching this weekend. I'm sure there's a mental aspect when moving to this level. Scrubs or not this is the NFL and grown men playing for jobs. Perhaps when the mental aspect slows down, more athleticism will show. I'm not writing him off at this point. Let the kid get through camp.

lets hope the mental part is slowing him down at the moment.

No, I'm talking about every practice and snap since the start of camp, plus the fact that he only played 13 games in college as a starter.

So far, he's only shown that he "looks" like he should be good because he's got the physical dimensions that say so.

Yeah, I see nothing special in the kid. I think it was a huge mistake to panic and draft him instead of just trading picks to go back.

lee, jaylon, other LB - i count 3
also jaylon has the speed of a DB.
in a 3rd and long, i would take a pass rush speedy LB over Lee.

When we played 3 down lineman, we only typically used two LBs. the third LB came off the field for another DB.

Lee is the best coverage linebacker on the team. Maybe the best in the NFL other than Kuechly.

Kid in Philly is a great coverage LB too. Just has to stay healthy.
