Not sure why Marinelli gets the blame from some for, "devaluing" the 1 tech. They didn't value it prior to his arrival either.

Agree, they tried to plug the guy that went to the bears there for how many years. Have not had a plugger there since Glover.

“and the season degenerated into a fiasco due to a rash of injuries to the offensive line. The season was also marked by disputes with star players such as Steven Jackson, Torry Holt, and, most notoriously, quarterback Marc Bulger. Holt and Jackson openly feuded with Linehan on the sidelines during games. The easygoing Linehan didn't discipline them, leading to criticism that he wasn't willing to assert his authority.”

I thought this was interesting. Linehan was blessed with megatron in Detroit so the jury is still out on whether he is better than Garret.
Check out what he did in Minnesota too.

He's not a head coach, but he is a very good OC.

We were decimated by injury at 1T. Paea got hurt and retired. Price hurt his knee. Ash hurt his shoulder. Collins was inserted and was playing on a foot fracture.

Despite all of that the 1T was not ever a problem. This 1T fascination is ideology that is not based in reality. Nick Hayden is gone.

The DL was a strength and will remain a strength.

We butt heads sometimes, but when you're right, you're right and this time, you're definitely right. This 1T argument has become the new "cool" outside the box "I know football look at me" argument around here. Most 43 teams don't have or put much stock in having a big bodied NT style 1T.

Don't worry, a season or two of playing Guice and Barkley twice a year will change their thinking.

Im not scared of either since neither Team has an O-Line. NFL RBs need good OLs to be productive. This aint College

Clearly they are looking at not having to pay Lawrence and Irving big money next year.

Ward and Armstrong may be able replacements in a year.

That's entirely possible. I have mentioned that possibility before and it's like the Dez situation. Everyone is sticking their heads in the sand to that possibility.

offensive coaches must love coaching with the guy the way he allows them to soak up all the resources.

I suspect it boils down to homers would have to admit that rods views on defensive tackle are wrong, and we know they could neve bring themselves to critize the coaching staff
Seriously? The coaching staff gets kiled in here every day.

Another draft, another failure to put any real assets into the 1 Tech. Guess it will be Collins and Price.

But we took another low ceiling, high motor player in Armstrong, a quintessential Marinelli pick. Settle is sitting there and we take a decent but likely backup caliber DE prospect that plays hard.

I really don’t understand why this franchise fears or eschews putting even some decent assets into the DT spot.
As usual you harp on your perceived failures not understanding the dynamics of running a team. You can’t just have everything you want because of the salary cap. So you have to make choices based on how you value the players in regards to your schemes. I know it’s real easy from your recliner. But in reality, it’s not easy at all.

how many times do we have to go over this, the cowboys do not value having a 1 tech in their scheme....if they did they would have drafted one many times over.....

you are saying the same thing that is being said in other threads and is said every year. Why cant you come to the realization, they dont value one and are not going to do what you want them to.

Neither do they have a strong defense. You'd think Marinelli would learn eventually, but apparently not.

Collins, Crawford, and Irving. What do you want?

It's a good thing they got a good LB because the DL isn't going to stop anybody, thanks to Marinelli.

If they don't value 1-tech, why did they move Collins there to essentially waste his talent? Do they not value Collins? They drafted him in the 3rd round and he won the starting job as a rookie. They should keep Collins at 3-tech and put any old scrub at 1-tech since they don't value the position at all.

While that's true to a extent the cowboys have
Had numerous opportunities to draft a DT to upgrade the position while marinelli has been here and for some reason choose not to .they could have drafted guys like ashawn Robinson,
Malcolm brown , Bennie Logan etc.....
Instead they choose to draft guys like ken bishop
And joey Ivie in the seventh round

Are you saying they didn't have opportunities before Marinelli?
