Funny, that is exactly the term my buddies and I have always used about Stern and the goofy/crooked NBA refereeing that's gone on for years.

In fact, we usually just shorten it to "the phone"... As in, that team will win unless the phone steps in.

All that said... Danny White (IIRC) was correct when he said that Mavs fans too often sound like perpetual whiners thanks to head cheerleader Mark Cuban, who has given his victim mentality to an entire fanbase.

Because it's not like the Mavs never get any favorable calls themselves.

We are definitely perpetual whiners but when you get a Championship yanked from you because of the officiating it's really hard not to be like that.

Ever since that series it just hasn't felt the same being a Mavs fan until we beat LA in game 2 at LA this year.

Dirk is my favorite pro athlete and his refuse to lose attitude is just something special to watch right now.

I agree with whoever it was that mentioned the major disadvantage of the 2-3-2 format..

I like Miami in 6

whoever it was that said Marion and Bosh would cancel each other out is out of their mind..while Marion played like the Marion from 2001 against OKC, I dont expect him to keep it up against Miami..and Marion wont be on Bosh anyways..Marion will more than likely be on Lebron

I dont like anyones chances on DWade..

Nobody is going to stop Dirk, we know this..Miami isnt going to be able to collapse on Dirk and leave the rest of the team open like they did against Chicago..So Dallas indeed presents a much stiffer challenge..

At the end of the day, IMO, Miami just has the 1 on 1 matchups in their favor..If Marion can somehow own his matchup with Lebron, Dallas will have a tremendous shot..I just dont see that happening..I expect Bosh to have a good series..I expect Wade to have a great series..and Lebron will be Lebron..Miami is just too tough..Plus, that 2-3-2 is a real killer for the underdog..

Has everybody heard the Scottie Pippen, Lebron is better than MJ, comments by now? Here it is if you haven't http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEUPDFZHSWQ

Whats up with this guy. I am a Lebron fan, in fact I'm rockin a Nike Witness T shirt right now haha. But this is blasphemy its not even close yet. MJ is the greatest and did so much. Not just the greatest scorer, but great perimeter defense and the greatest leader. 6 rings.

2-3-2 format shouldn't worry Mavs fans too much.

We're probably better away from Dallas than at Dallas.

And I may be wrong (but I doubt it) but I think Dallas was the best road team in basketball this year.

That is a good point..I believe Dallas and Miami were tied for the best road record

Yeah both were 28-13 but the Mavs did it with that Western Conference schedule ;).

Chicago and San Antonio lost 5 home games all year.. Wow.

Denver only lost 8 home games but was 17-24 on the road. haha.

Miami fans are also really, really weak. They are frontrunners who only get loud when the Heat are winning.

ya, he either is deperate for attention or is butthurt at michael for some reason. people on espn and in general are getting a little carried away with dirk and lebron for these playoffs, its quite annoying that they act like basketball was invented 6 years ago or something

To be fair, they are comparing Dirk's offense to Bird's, not his overall game. Dirk is every bit the scorer Bird was, but Bird was a better passer and defender and all-around player.

And in terms of actual ability, Lebron is definitely on MJ's level. The difference is the aura of Jordan and his six rings, things Lebron will likely never obtain.

its more than just aura that jordan has over lebron, consistensy on the defensive end, leadership skills, making his team better (by threatening to rip their heads of? yes, but still he made them work as hard as they could). not to mention mental toughness, cool under pressure and a killer instinct. Kobe is closer to MJ than lebron will ever because those are things you just have, you dont learn them.

Lebron is certainly developing into a great defender and cluch performer. He is bigger and more athletic than Jordan was and so I think his defensive ceiling is higher if he really works at it. Jordan was a great defender, but Lebron can guard all 5 positions on the court.

I think 10 years from now, IF Lebron has several rings, it will be a legitimate debate

thats my point, he could be, but he is nowhere near that level right now. In fact, if he retired after this year, even with a ring, he isnt a top 20 player of all time yet

also, he cant just win titles, he has to be a huge part of it, like he was vs the celtics and bulls, but over the course of at least 4 title runs

I'm worried about this match-up, but I will be one happy Mavs fan if they win the championship!!

I do like LeBron - Mostly because he's a loyal Cowboys fan.

I saw this posted by Mosley on Twitter quoting Bulls player Noah:
Noah on the Heat (TNT): "They're Hollywood as %&*$." :laugh2:

Anyone who roots for the cHeat have issues. The cHeat are everything thats wrong with sports. How could you root for a bigger bunch of --holes? Sad. If you are a longtime 10 plus year fan I apologize. Its time for Karma and Humility to win for a change. Stern is hating life now cause he really cant fix this series two times.Cmon Mavs we need a championship in DFW,Lord knows we arent close with the Cowboys and Rangers choked it away.

Probably the only ones pulling for the Heat are the Heat and Spurs fans.

Go MAVS go! Bring the trophy to Dallas!!!

Not a Heat fan just a fan of the game. Don't understand the hate.

cHeat's and ---holes?? If you want to get on Lebron for the decision I wont defend that. Wade is a likeable star. Bosh has been the butt of many jokes from fans and media and he is playing big time. All 3 sacrificed money, stature, and ball possessions for the purpose of rings.
Bibby gave up a 6 mill contract. Cant hate on Mike Miller (finally making couple of shots) and Haslem (injured all year). Joel Anthony has been playing his tail off doing the dirty work.
I assume you say cHeats because you think NBA tries to rigs games by having the refs favor a certain team. I don't believe in that stuff.

Jordan was won of the best defenders to ever play in the NBA.....ever. Really, both he and Pippen fall into that category.

It is not relevant whether or not he should be able to defend a 4 or 5.

If you are a guard and can cover a 1, 2 or 3....that is your maximum task. You are measured as a defender by how well you can cover those positions.

For example, if player A grades between a 97, 100, and 100 at guarding the 1-2-3 and player B grade grade a 95, 95, 95 at guarding those postions but higher at guarding someone player A will never really have to guard....player A is the better defender.

At least that is how I see it.
