If he's as good as some claim, then it's time to show it.

Have you seen another competent CB other than Bland this year . I wouldn’t mind a CB high in this draft . Not the 5th round bargain variety .

It's not his fault the titled GM decided to trade his best draft pick right before the season, then rehire the prevent defense coach when every year of press man defense worked and worked well. He has hit on a ton of picks not named Mazi and Taco. Stay away from Michigan Dlineman!

Considering Jerry didn’t even know the names of two of our starters last week when asked about them in the pregame interview, I think it’s safe to say he doesn’t know more than 5% of the top 200 players in any given draft and those are likely either Razorbacks or SEC opponents of the Razorbacks

With that in mind, I’d say McClay does have a huge impact on who is selected, more so than any other personnel director in the league. Why? Because he decides what names Jerry sees and which ones he doesn’t.

I’m sure Jerry is easy to manipulate.

If a guy you know has the “intangibles” that Jerry would eat up, but you think he sucks, just rate him ridiculously low or leave him off the board entirely.

Have a guy you think is can’t miss but you’re afraid Jerry has fallen in love with some random JAG, toss in some “Jerry bait” into the player description of the guy you like.

Jerry’s asleep at the wheel and McClay is the one leaning over to do the steering.

Is he? Is he the one that picked Mazi/Schooner/Kelvin/Trysten/Jaylon? Is he making decisions or not? Our D sucks due to poor drafting, is he responsible or not?

He created the board but it doesnt mean the team follows BPA or his reccomendations on everything.. He is responsible for swaying the organization on Mazi, we have video of that. I think you are right to begin to question him as the last few drafts haven't been great. But how do you know that's the board he put up and what was the organization deeming need being more important?

I would say, at a minimum, there's some defensive line scouting malpractice going on.

Whomever those sets of eyes are that are feeding the defensive line prospects portion of the draft board...
Those guy(s)need to be fired.
Waaaaaay too many misses.

The reason he does not leave is because he gets paid good money to be here with no responsibility. When a pick is bad we blame Jerry or the coaches. He escapes the blame

Look at recent horrible drafts

Around NFL circles he is well respected. That isn't new news.

How anyone can blame him for who Jerry picks is unexplainable.

Really dont think mcclay has full control. Too much coach involvement and the jones. They should just let mcclay find the players that fit into the coaches scheme it would work better

It's fairly obvious that the Cowboys draft picks have gotten poor the last few years, regardless who is responsible for making them. Here's hoping the guilty parties will be ignored or replaced in the future.

Yeah, right. If anyone deserves the benefit of the doubt it's a GM who can't be fired for incompetence, is on a 30 year divisional playoff win drought, and who's team is currently 3-4-1 with the worst defense any of us has ever seen.

When it comes to McClay, the scouts, coaches or anyone else associated with drafting, I think it’s safe to say that they are lousy when it comes to evaluating and drafting defensive players. It has become even more apparent the last 10 years.

McClay does not draft players. McClay does not sign players. McClay does did not even attend the combine until the last few years. McClay gets the draft organized, sets the board and dumbo 1, Jerry Dumbo GM Jones, and dumbo 2 Stephen Chief Operating Dumbo Jones select the players. Jerry selects the players on suggestions. He has the final say and he is not open to football people making football decisions. This has been the last 30 years. Do you really think McClay lets Lawrence, and Parsons go? Do you think McClay who actually played, coached, scouted and managed hire DC that do not fit the personnel and run the scheme that fit the players?

No more "act like your talking to me Jimmy" when the war room camera is on. Now its just let me play GM without doing the real work of a football GM. Results speak for themselves.

This is the Arlington Jonesboys. Until Dallas Cowboy fans get this through their Cowboy baseball caps, you are going to be doing the same thing looking for different results.

You will not see the Jonesboys use 2 no.1 picks and come away with Randy White and Hollywood Henderson or Demarcus Ware and Marcus Spears. That was Tex, Gil, and Wooten, and Parcells and Jeff Ireland. It is Jerry Dumbo GM Jones and the Arlington Jonesboys so you are going to get another Felix Jones and Mike Jenkins draft.

Disagree. We have many needs on defense. I dont want them reaching for another DT in the draft.

Then draft a DE or LB. Plenty of quality players out there. I agree, just don't reach

The NFL draft picks are lotto's especially after the first round. But even 1st round provides a lot of bust. In saying that the Cowboys have been probably in the top 5 in drafting talent.

Our issue is we don't really make meaningful moves in FA to fill in the gaps. We tend to lean heavy on the draft and then sign bargain bin players in FA.

However, I don't think much of McClay either because either he's blown the last few drafts so badly that he deserves to be fired, or Jerry simply doesn't care what he has to say so therefor he is just window dressing serving no real purpose.
