I see incessant claims of how good McClay is at drafting. Starting this offseason, we will see exactly how good he is. We desperately need D help, and we need it yesterday. So, what's going to happen? More CB's and WR's and TE's?

If he's as good as some claim, then it's time to show it.

This upcoming draft should be DEDICATED to FRONT 7 monsters. We actually have (when healthy) a decent secondary. We desperately need front 7 beef.

I think Jerry and Stephen are real heavy on Day 1 pick, and pretty heavy on Day 2 picks, given who McClay has put on the board there. They have discussions for a week or two before the draft and the Jones boys give their 2 cents on the say top potential 20 picks who will be available through their third rounder and they're batting these guys around whether certain guys will be available lower etc. But I think they let McClay make the deciding vote on Day 3. Day 3 is the scouts' day only I would think. I would hope.

Disagree. We have many needs on defense. I dont want them reaching for another DT in the draft.

That's why I've said priority one should be to decide on a defensive philosophy with the intent that the philosophy doesn't change regardless of coaches over a number of years.

Agree…both Dallas and Philly have had 3 defensive coordinators in the past 5 years.
The difference, in Philly, all 3 ran Fangio type schemes, so desired player traits remained relatively the same.

Is he? Is he the one that picked Mazi/Schooner/Kelvin/Trysten/Jaylon? Is he making decisions or not? Our D sucks due to poor drafting, is he responsible or not?

Those picks in April better be DT, MLB, S, DE. CB ETC... Will McClay should be on the phone with Pickens agent as we speak, keep the offense potent and then build your 2026 defense. It is a common sense approach.

Same thing we said in 2012(and many other times), so we then we traded up for a CB, gave up multiple high picks for a WR, stuff like that.

Yeah, right. If anyone deserves the benefit of the doubt it's a GM who can't be fired for incompetence, is on a 30 year divisional playoff win drought, and who's team is currently 3-4-1 with the worst defense any of us has ever seen.

It's not just DT's, reaching is bad no matter the position.

Will McClay sucks. It's just that his two bosses are so fake and terrible that he looks good in comparison.

You definitely want his to be the loudest voice in the war room as presently constructed but on a sanely run team you'd get rid of all of them and start over.
