look at the deal that the Saints gave the Bills Safety......you can do a big time deal and make the year one number look tiny.

anyone else think Melton is just utilizing his Dallas "trip" as a formality to garner leverage with Seattle and other clubs?? I just don't think we'll be anywhere near able to give what he wants and he knows that..

Melton had 7 sacks in 2011 and 6 in 2012 but people think he is the greatest DT to ever play the position.
his is all he could do while Peppers was next to him getting al the double teams.
0 sacks in 2013, I know he tore his ACL but a guy that should have had atleast a few before he got hurt
http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/12695/henry-melton

He had as many sacks in those two games last year as Ware had in the same span in his better years. He went into the KC game in 2009 without one, a span of four games.

Sacks are so overvalued it is just incredible.

how can we, we only have 7 million in cap space. melton will take a chunk of that. Also what other players are out there thats going to help this team. All the great players have been taken.

I'm fine with Melton at a discount and cap friendly but no way should we pay him more than Minny or Seattle offered him. shouldnt pay Hatcher money

1. The 1st year cap hit on Carr's 50M contract was 3.2M. They Cowboys could sign 2 free agents to 50M contracts and not use all of the 7M.

2. The Cowboys could free up a total of 23.5M in cap space if they wanted to do it. It only takes 1 day to restructure other contracts.

Honestly someone with NFL rewind needs to just watch those 3 games last year and report back with how he did

right but people want to pay Melton big money coming off a ACL tear. I would rather take a chance on Easley in the 2nd than Melton.

You're worried about Melton coming off of a torn ACL, but you would rather take a chance on Dominique Easley, who has torn an ACL in each knee, including last year?

Melton has said he'd love to play for Marinelli again. I think that's why he scheduled Dallas last. This way he'd get a look at the other offers first. If we're close he signs here. If not he probably goes to Seattle for a chance at a ring. Pay no more than 5 yr 25 mil.

That acl has to be a concern.

Hatch is a safer bet

At the same price though

Danny screwed things up with that contract.

Hatcher had shoulder/neck problems. Those are more likely to become an ongoing issue than an ACL tear (assuming Melton had a simple ACL tear and no other damage).

10 teams would pay more than that. It'll most likely be more than Hatcher"s deal because he's younger.

Remember, other teams have tons of cap space and are required to use it with the new rules.

It was not all that great supposedly. But how exactly does that matter?

And bank on him just falling into our laps too.

Truthfully, I think Easley will be there. He'd probably be there in the third round as well. 280 pound DTs that don't have great on-field production tend to slide.

If Melton comes at a reasonable price, we take him and that frees us up to trade down in rd 1 of the draft
If he is too expensive perhaps sign a 1tech DT in FA (likely come cheaper) and draft Donald or Jernigan at 16
I think either can play 3t

That could be a good sign for Dallas, assuming they want him as bad as people think they do. If this guy left Seattle, I'm thinking he wants more than a homecoming. He wants to get paid. Seattle likely tried to sell him on a great situation in regards team success, but perhaps this guy decided that he was looking for something else?

but that would be stupid. this team isnt close to a superbowl so why do any of that? Why loe more cap pace from next year by doing the restructures. I'm fine just building through the draft and have max cap space next year for thoe great free agents to be next offseason,

I can't spend a 2nd round pick on a player with more than one ACL tear in the same knee. That's a recipe for disaster. He will not have a sustainable NFL career. I would consider in the 3rd or 4th but no way in the second, IMO.

I'm not saying what they should or shouldn't do, but there is no reason to make false claims about their inability to do it.

It would be much more credible if you post that the Cowboys can sign players to big contracts, but that in your opinion that it's not a good idea. Then explain why it's not a good idea. Just posting that they don't have cap space is a Calvin Watkins type of non credible statement.
