3 years try 2 years all next to peppers and also will be 28 in Oct.

if he wants Hatcher money then let some other team over pay

If he wanted Hatcher money, I doubt Seattle/Minnesota would have wasted as much time with him as they did.

IMO, he comes in below that, thanks to the injury uncertainty/character history. I do not believe he is that delusional that he is saying he is getting his.

If he gets that out of Dallas then blame our desperation and "the Marinelli Effect", not his greed.

So if Melton is signed, that means we cannot get other players? I just want to make sure I am following you.

how can we, we only have 7 million in cap space. melton will take a chunk of that. Also what other players are out there thats going to help this team. All the great players have been taken.

I'm fine with Melton at a discount and cap friendly but no way should we pay him more than Minny or Seattle offered him. shouldnt pay Hatcher money

It's hilarious to watch Cowboys fans build up a prospect . Remember DeCastro? Good times.
DeCastro turned out to be a pretty good OG in Pitt. He had a bad rookie year but he's been pretty good since.

You know what is really funny. Dallas fans building up free agents thinking they are worth being over paid. now there is along list of those guys Jerry got in FA that turned out to be a terrible pickup and hurt the cap. melton can easily be the next.

Wait a minute.

Now we "only have 7 million in cap space"?

I thought we could do whatever we want by just restructuring people. Now that is not an option anymore?

These "discount and cap friendly" things are pretty funny now when before when Jones was handing out extensions to injured/declining players like Oprah Winfrey hands out cars, a lot of people were happy he was doing whatever it took to win.

The question at this stage is simple, if you want a discount, forget it. It might not be Hatcher money, but I feel fairly confident a smart team like Seattle was giving him an offer that is reasonable.

I wouldn't blame his greed, i think he should get all he can get. I'm happy Hatcher got what he got I just don't want Dallas to be the team that gives it to him.
Why pay a guy with those uncertainty/character history. Only way I'm ok with Melton is if its a 2-3 million a year deal with low guaranteed. Melton should sign him but only as a prove it deal. If he isn't getting a big money offer then he needs to look at what happened to Michael Bennett last year and what Hatcher got after 1 year with Marinelli.

a 1 year prove it deal would be best for all of us.

we can still restructure witten or carr, but why. Why kick the can down the road to just be able to sign Melton and some more scrubs. Why not let them play out this year and let them walk next year and clear out as much 2015 cap room as possible and get ready for the 2015 free agent class. That looks like a scary class. Lots of great players will be available next year.

yes we have about 7.7 million in cap space right now

Melton isn't a savior for this team we need to rebuild and have as much cap space as possible for next off season.

And I hope those that are worried about that examine the reasons why beyond blaming the player. Probably will not happen though.

And I wish Kate Upton would come through the door so I could do this:

Since that is the case, I would recommend not spending much more of that seven million at all then.

No four million for Robert Ayers. Or Pat Sims. Or whatever player we think will just be cheap.

Back away from the table and pretend the draft will fall exactly where we need it to. Put direct faith in Marinelli coaching everyone up.

Go full gonzo.
