I think he signs in Dallas at a price that's better cap wise than what hatcher got.

All thing being equal id prefer hatch being the 3 again.

I wouldn't. Hatcher is way too old to build around, whereas Melton is in his prime.

He'd make more had he not torn his acl.

Him and his agent aren't liking the offers and are trying to play with Jerry's emotions in hopes of getting more out of him.

Exactly it. Jerry Jones' motions, guided by Rod Marinelli whispering in his ear at the negotiating table. People need to understand that when they evaluate the signing if he is indeed brought on.

right but people want to pay Melton big money coming off a ACL tear. I would rather take a chance on Easley in the 2nd than Melton.

Again, WHY is the ACL tear a big deal? Seriously, who doesn't recover from an ACL tear? No one will answer this question.

Hey I get that. So why is Chicago not signing him? Why have all these Vets been scooped up so fast, yet Melton is still taking a tour? Something is wrong with this situation. Is it the knee, or the player himself?

If we sign him I hope I'm dead wrong.

Maybe hes Jay Ratliff? The Cowboys really shouldnt give Melton more than a 2 year deal, but the short term cost would likely be more than what the Cowboys could afford so it wouldnt shock me if by default we offered him a long term deal to make this work. Dont know how I feel about him if he came in last season as a free agent I would be thrilled, but injuries and character issues have me a bit concerned. At the same point in time we need difference makers on the line if this isnt going to be a throwaway season. Its not likely any rookie defensive lineman makes a game changing impact without pieces in place around him.

So is Easley a dead solid lock to be available with the 47th selection?

I would love to live in your draft world where you can just slot players for certainty.

Even if he was, would that not tell you that yes, he is probably like Tank Carradine was last year and will have to sit?

several players haven't recovered and also the possibility of it happening again. Also even if he recovers who knows if he will be the same player. Several players have came back but never back to being as good as they once were.

The point is it a question mark and you shouldn't over pay for a question mark.
I would be looking at the Seattle and Minny offers and offer him lower than what they did. I would like to have him but no way should we over pay for a player like him.

We have had players like Spencer playing bone on bone with his knee for years but I see less concern about bringing him back than this.

I think it is more just simple caution being parlayed into some sort of relative certainty from the injury.

no but he also isn't a lock to be gone. i would love to live in your everything is great Melton man crush world. Its funny you think Melton is going to put this team in the superbowl. Takes more than 1 player to rebuild this team

I'm just not as high on Donald as some. He's obviously a good prospect, but he is short, undersized, and racked up stats against teams like New Mexico and got shut down when he played decent competition like Notre Dame. I may even like Jernigan more.

BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That acl has to be a concern.

Hatch is a safer bet

At the same price though

Danny screwed things up with that contract.

Sorry, but a 32 year-old one-year contract wonder is not a "safer bet" than a 27 year old who has performed well as a 3-tech for three years. Oh, and I hate to break it to you, but I'm guessing Melton lands a bigger contract than Hatch.

Prime? 28 is not prime. 28 year old coming off ACL tear with only 2 good years in his career when he was lined up next to Peppers who was getting all the double teams.

If he does get more than hatcher I hope it's not in Dallas.

3 years try 2 years all next to peppers and also will be 28 in Oct.

if he wants Hatcher money then let some other team over pay

people on here have a Melton crush thinking he is a savior on a defense that needs alot more than just one player.

So if Melton is signed, that means we cannot get other players? I just want to make sure I am following you.
