That's fine. Kick the can down the road and go all in while we have a championship caliber defense.

They weren't goingbto do that with the players they have coming up. That's what got them in trouble before with the cap

Yeah I only watched the highlight out of the corner of my eye.. I will have a look at the video when I get a minute.

If you watch the play closely Cooper would’ve had a very difficult time coming up with the ball because the defender got there maybe even slightly before he did and knocked it away. Some are acting like Cooper got his hands on the ball and bobbled it which is not true. It was a great play by the Jets defender.

Hes still only 28, with 2 years left it’s not unheard of to extend him into his early 30’s. Restructure next year too to bring it down closer to 10m$, then extend him before the deal balloons out of control in the last season. It’s very doable, Dallas just didn’t want to do it.

Von Miller is a very different situation, he was a free agent and was asking for top money at 33 years old.

OK how about Hill, KC did not need him? Fact is every team out there is faced with letting players go that they would love to keep. Fact of life in the NFL. I said as soon as last season was over that Dallas would keep Cooper or Gallup but given the fact we were over the cap I knew we could not keep them both. People want to say who they would have rather kept? I have no issue with that. As for restructuring a contract again teams do that as well but it is not free money, the saving you get to make it under the cap just puts that money in other years, Cooper deal could be restructured and we could have seen a smaller hit this year but no way out of the fact the next couple of season that 20 mill would have been higher.

Find me a quote, they kept it between Gallup and Cooper, they never said which 1 they were keeping, we knew 1 was leaving , but they never said which 1 .

Okay I called up the game from video on demand.. While I'm mostly in agreement that the defender beat Coop to the ball I think that only happened because Coop was a bit er.. disinterested going after the ball. The ball is kicked from the 35. Cooper and the hands team lined up on the 50. The defender first touched at the Jets 46 yard line which means he went 11 yards while Cooper went 4. If Cooper goes aggressively after the ball the defender has zero chance at it. So he Coop might have done a little business decisioning in how he went after that ball. As such I'm going to come down on the side of those who think he could have given a little better effort on that. Still not going to blame him for the loss.. but I can see how that narrative got legs.

I watched parts of the game on NFL Redzone and saw the onside kick. The Jets defender got to the ball at exactly the same time as Cooper and knocked the ball away and you’re blaming Cooper for not coming up with it? Lol He hardly had any chance to come up with that ball. If it wasn’t for his 9 catches for 101 yards and a TD the Browns wouldn’t have been in that game. He was targeted 10 times in the game and came up with 9 catches. The only target he didn’t come up with a catch was when he was interfered with in the end zone giving the Browns a first and goal. Can’t believe you’re blaming Cooper for the loss. You don’t like him we get it!

I'm not blaming Cooper for the loss at all, but IDK, watching that onside kick, it looked like Cooper stopped and waited for the ball, rather than running to grab it before the Jets' guy got to it.

Normally I would agree with the reasoning. It isn't hard to see what they're doing. I just don't agree with it this season. Over a quarter of a century without a championship, they had a real opportunity to go all in, and they played it conservative.

I'm being more vocal this season because truthfully, I'm tired of this team being run into the dirt year after year, remaining relevant and lining the owners pockets, but never providing real substance on the field. The act is old and the fact that so many defend our clueless management is crazy to me. To each their own I guess.

Amari Cooper > Dak and Zeke

Jerry and the fans have a lot invested emotionally in Dak and Zeke. I’m sure it hurts, which is why they’re having trouble coming to grips with reality.

When you extend someone who’s not on their rookie deal, you can effectively “rip up” the remaining non-fully guaranteed money on the deal. So what would happen in that instance is Cooper’s base salaries in 2023 and 2024 could get erased from the books, dropping his cap hit to only what his signing bonus proration would be, as well as the remnants from the 2022 restructure (which would be around 10-15m$ total?)

You wouldn’t run into a scenario where Cooper hits the cap for anywhere near 20m$ for at least 3 more years

BS, sorry not how it works, No player, none ever restructure deals and lose money. Players will restructure deals to free up money but they are paid to do so and do not lose a single dime in doing it. Cooper deal was not torn up, Cleveland got it and yes will play less year 1 but those remaining years are more expensive. You can go on about Cooper, I think he is great would love to keep him but Dallas was over the cap that played a big role in this and fact is you can't keep everyone especially when you are over or pressed up against it. No way Dallas was keeping Cooper and Gallup 1 was going to be let go. As I said you think we should have kept Cooper and let Gallup go, I have no argument but no way we were keeping both.

Dak made Cooper better.
