Evening Pops and everyone.

Is it seriously only Tuesday? I had to work Sunday so that's probably why this week is dragging for me, and I have to work Friday:(. I hate choppy weeks. Everyone is crabby because of that day off after midweek and then having to come in for one more day. I really don't know why they complain to me. I have ZERO pull in that regard.

Spent the last couple nights after work sloooowwwwly getting in 8 miles on the treadmill trying to get my step back. Way too hot to be outdoors doing that, but I felt good about it and decided to give the hips and knees a little rest tonight...and then blew it. Someone brought these gourmet cupcakes to work and I broke. I'm not even supposed to eat that stuff, but decided once in a great while I need to or I'll lose even more of my sanity. So, gonna get back to it tomorrow and probably spend a lot of time in the workout room on the 4th. Joy. Wish I had a grill...

Hope all have a great rest of your week and a safe and happy 4th holiday.

Kudos Gramma! 8 miles don’t come easy.

Thank you, but whose got time for that? Weekends is one thing but not on a regular basis when I'm working at least 10 hours a day lol. If I can safely manage a 5k each of 4-5 days per week I will have accomplished more than my g.p. doctor would ask (or could do). I think I'll save the longer hauls for the weekends, and you know that 'day after the day after' thing? I think tomorrow I'd be wise to walk o_O. I need a bit more time before I start biting off big chunks. Tomorrow morning I'm sure I'll be reminded why baby steps are necessary:oops:.

My wife and I do 3 miles, 5 or 6 days out of the week weather permitting. I’ll jog 2 and mostly walk the 3rd one. My wife jogs all 3. We’ve been doing this for the last 9 years. I have lots of respect for folks that run long distances. It takes a lot of hard work to develop that kind of endurance. Your will has to take over after your mind says ‘ ok you can stop now’ lol
Some say walking is better than jogging and that’s what my mind tells me after about half mile. My will says “ hush, you can walk after 2”
I could jog the 3rd but I use that as my cooling off period and let my hb go back to normal.

Morning, Pops and pen pals. The G kids, 10 yrs and 5 yrs, have gone into the massage business together. They even made up a list of services and prices. Last night I bought a shoulder and neck massage. They actually did a decent job too. However, I told them if a guy named Kraft comes to the door RUN!! Have a fun hump day, folks.

Doc says walking is just as good. I just want to get it over with :D. Right now I'm forcing myself to do it because I haven't really gotten the itch to love it again. Walking is much easier on the joints to be sure. I'm thinking it would be wise to stick to 3-4 miles a day for now until I decide it's something I really want to commit to. Once it cools off outside and I get my river walkway back it might be easier to do. If we're being honest, I hate jogging on the treadmill. The scenery never changes. Outside I can challenge myself to make it to the next gazebo, or the bridge or whatever. This is one of the reasons I also despise summer. It's just too stinking hot.

Good morning Pops and friends. 3-4 miles a day is a commitment to good health ;) . The heat isn’t too bad early in the morning but you will definitely feel the humidity in this area.
The trail we run isn’t very boring. The watch out for alligators n wild hogs signs keep you on alert.

Whoa! Raining hard right now.! Thundering like crazy.

Afternoon Pops and friends. After reading all that talk about running, I need to rehydrate. Could not agree more about the heat, Jan.

Today someone I'm related to is having a birthday. I don't remember which relative, but it's definitely, definitely today. Five minutes till Wopner.

Yesterday I spent a lot of time outside. I worked in my yard and the neighbor's behind me. She ran me out of her yard at least 5 times. I'm OCD and those bushes were taunting me! She can't do yard work and I was Have Clippers Will Travel. She has a large bush in the front which requires a ladder to reach the top. If I'd gone got a ladder, she'f have locked me out so I crawled in to get those Rastafarian sprouts. It's not professional, but it is Southern Baptist now..

DABZ is up to her magic in the forums again and she caught Leon's likeness perfectly.

Have a good Wednesday everyone!

Good morning Pops and runners and walkers and resters and nappers. I always took that "and on the 7th day, He rested" literally and applied for membership in the 7th Day Adventists thinking they were all about celebrating that 7th day of rest instead of the other 6 except Saturday for college football. They've got their nerve, I wouldn't want to join a club that would have me anyway.

Happy 4th of July Eve and it's OK to shoot off some fireworks but remember just one. My dogs do not like the 4th, they're Cuban and have their own holidays.

I am breaking the tradition, actually two traditions, of the backyard BBQ and will only go out there to libate or levitate myself and fire up a stogie. I am also breaking the other tradition of "when it snows, it's chili time" and am doing a pot of it tomorrow. Always perplexed me that Texas had Chili cook offs in the heat of the summer so I am going to find out that that's all about. I may start a new tradition because the backyard cookout on a holiday for one sucks. There should be kids running around a backyard cookout and since I dressed up the folks', that live at the end of the cul-de-sac, grandkids in little British soldiers the last 4th and made them march through the field out back, hid behind a tree, jumped out and chunked water balloons at them, they won't play with me. I told them all their unpatriotic and I am the only true Minuteman, at least that's the cute little nickname my wife had for me.

I do hope you folks that toil will find rest and relaxation tomorrow and the true meaning of the 4th of July...........we needed a holiday because June and August don't have one.

I sign up for stuff, like recently joining another wine club, and do not read the conditions which clearly state "we're going to sell your email address to companies assuming you are interested in meds for EDS, high end tools and a cremation policy. This will give you something to do while quaffing your shipment, you degenerate wino". I do, however, like how they personalize that last part.

When I was is music licensing in Dallas, I had a sales staff of 18 and I had this one sales lady who thought she was IT accomplished and our IT guy argued with her all of the time about going to these NewsGroups on a company computer. She could really be annoying and act superior to the others and they didn't like her. She was two offices down from mine and one day I hear this blood curdling scream and run out of my office and see that she's running out of hers yelling "make it stop!!!!!!" over and over. I thought her choo choo had finally skipped it's track and I went into her office and whatever she had clicked on began opening window after window of the male sex organ in every size, shape, color and weird attribute and it was just going crazy. Our IT guy runs in and between us trying to keep from peeing in our pants and falling on the floor because we were in hysterics like the idiots from Dumb and Dumber and the fact that this thing was a runaway freight train, he finally just unplugged it and had to take it back to his office and nuke it and do a whole new install.

He said it had opened over 2500 pics before he had unplugged it and we started trying to attach that to cities in close approximation of male population and set ourselves off again. He didn't like her at all but he was thankful for the laughs she gave us that day. He told me that the company that did our protect on our system told him that was an experiment for a new hacker group in Germany. That kid that later got busted for the Love virus was part of that group.

All of those IT guys are a no fun bunch of stiffs. "Don't open any email if you don't know the sender". How in the hell are you gonna make new friends?
Yeah to another wine club! I almost stopped reading at that point to check this quarter's wine shipment... Glad I didn't. Your story about the pop-up porn cracked me up. The only thing that would have made it better would have been if it occurred during a staff presentation.

I am not going to post what just crossed my mind regarding the play on words of the so-called "staff presentation"... Oh wait. I think I just did...:omg:.

Morning Pops and fellow firecrackers. Happy 4th of July to you and Jason "Make That 3 Fingers of Tequila" Pierre-Paul.

They're lining up on the Boulevard for the annual 4th of July parade and it's pretty cool. Good time to hold up a C store or set a fire since all of the cop cars and fire trucks will be here. This place is crawling with golf carts and they decorate them, pile in them and drive the parade route waving like a bunch of Homecoming Queens and because of the prevalence of those golf carts, there are more people in the parade than watching it. It's actually a reverse parade, the participants watch the people standing on the Boulevard. I stand on my patio with a beer and a stogie, leering and flipping them off and yelling for them to get off my lawn, even though it's not really my lawn but why worry about details and miss the opportunity?

Y'all stay safe and sound and just a warning. Don't put a roman candle in an empty champagne bottle. And yes, it was emptying that bottle that gave me the inspiration.
