Morning Pops and friends, and happy Friday.

Pretty tired this morning. Went to bed at 8:30 to get up at 2:30, but woke around 10 to the sound of a huge clap of thunder. Once my heart rate slowed down a bit, I remembered that there was no rain in the forecast, so I started looking out my windows and saw that a carload of teenagers totalled their car in the trees on my property. They were all fine, not a scratch on them somehow, but there were trees thrown around and wires downed, so once the FD and State Police came, and the car got towed, I had to clean up just so I could get my car out of the driveway this morning.

Morning, Pops and pen pals. That sounds like a nightmare night, Runny. Sorry for your troubles. I would have had to call in sick today if I was up all night. It is a warm day here; 56° at 5:20 a.m. We are supposed to get some rain tomorrow. I hope you all had a great Christmas.

Wow, Runny, horrible way to start your day. Glad to hear the teens were okay. Just curious, did they or, perhaps, their parents offer assist with the clean-up?

The kids were actually dragging stuff into the woods when I walked outside, and the driver offered to come back tomorrow and help cut up and clean up the trees. They seemed like good kids who were just having more fun than they could handle.

Come on Leon, who needs more than 3 hours of sleep to drive a few hundred miles the next morning? Lol

I hope your employer realizes and appreciates what a dedicated guy they have in you. I'd look for any excuse to not go in, especially on the Friday between the holidays, but what really happened is better than what I'd make up.

Sounds like one bunch of lucky kids and I'll bet there are some parents wanting to talk to the driver, if they haven't already cornered him. When my boys were that age, that was my greatest fear and the nights my Dad were up waiting for me when I got home were revisited upon me when mine were that age. I remember one time complaining to him and then I turned to look at him and he just had this creepy weird smile on his face. I am working on that smile for when my grandson turns 16.

Runny, what's it with you and your trees? If it's not Mother Nature, it's a bunch of teenagers. You might consider the desert as your next residence. That would a perfect opportunity for me to go out and yell "hey you teenagers, get out of my trees"!!!!!!!

Morning Pops and fellow Friday fans of the forum. Getting in a little bit of the last of the 2019 alliteration, I am.

I am in a weirdly decent mood and I discovered why, Christmas is over. Some get that Christmas Blues hangover but not me, I am just glad I came through another one unscathed and it seems to be getting easier and the TV ads will die down now and I never realized how many people give vehicles as presents. Why, that everyday couple in the 2M home even gave a SUV and a truck and the man was in such a giving spirit, he didn't care which one he got. And I didn't see the guy that takes his woman out in the wilderness where he stashed a couple of generators and lit up the largest tree in the forest. I hope wolves found them to be tasty.

And speaking of Friday, and I was, isn't it odd that Black Friday is no more and they would use such a term to signify the Christmas shopping season and Good Friday is basically ignored? This was finally the retail brick and mortar disaster they'd been anticipating. The countdown has started on anything not around the home. With the restaurant deliveries, grocery store deliveries, food to cook at home deliveries, online shopping and even getting our movies at home, I wonder when I will back out of the garage with no place to go? I will just drive around aimlessly. Lucky for me I am old enough to drive around with my blinker going serving as a reminder I must turn at some point to get back.

That grocery delivery thing doesn't work for me. I used that when Hector was getting used to his new master (you like that? Master? Me too, wanted to write it again so I could capitalize it) and the produce that was picked out was selected by a blind teenager that had never felt fruit before. Or got off on feeling it a lot.

Now lookie here, this is your last weekend of 2019, make it count. Don't just sit around watching the two most important college games of the season or NFL teams that will either play one more game...….. in 2020 or get to start on those badly needed vacations. Poor things, they have to work 6 months of the year for millions and some even have to work in January. I don't like to think of our pampered players out in the cold in January and luckily, that hasn't been a problem in 24 years.

I have a lot of odd encounters with birds as well. From a duck flying over the top of my truck, dropping down right in front of my windshield so I was staring at his butt, then slowing down and landing in the road in front of me, making me stop so he could turn and quack at me...to a robin spending two days tapping on my bedroom window, shortly after my best friend died...to being attacked from above while golfing. Birds and trees don't seem to like me, even though I used to like them both very much.....Used to.

Sorry to hear about your friend.

Regarding the Bird Story. The Cowboys seem to have had a problem with the ones from Philly last week. :)

I've been meaning to ask you about your avatar. I thought I saw somewhere on this site that you painted that Emmitt with airbrush? Is that right? If so, AWESOME JOB! :starspin:

Morning, Pops and all Y'all. I think this will be a three cup of coffee morning; can't seem to keep my eyes open. It's going to be another shorts and t-shirt day here reaching almost 70°. Have a nice day, folks.
Good morning Pops and Year End Revellers,

70 F, Leon, really?? While the leading edge of our latest blizzard has arrived, the day-time high temperature of 20F has already been reached. Who am I kidding? I love this weather!

We took the light rail commuter train to downtown Denver yesterday. It was eeriely quiet, as if as if a zombie apocalypse had occured but we didn't get the message. We don't go downtown that much, but each time we do, I can't get over the odd juxtaposition of modern building opulence and the homeless.

I am not trying to start a political debate. I just find it more than a bit sad to see homeless vagrants, many whom are mentally ill, wondering aimlessly in 20F temperatures.

As for us, we have started our year end tradition of listing those major activities or milestones reached during the year. First among them is our health and well-being.

I could be flippant and list the end our our DC coaching legend, Jason Garrett, as a milestone event. However, for the moment, I'll take the higher road. Only for a moment, though.
