Good evening Pops and friends. Wishing everyone a safe weekend. It’s going to take some adjusting to our new norm.
My 12 yr old grandson is my sports buddy. We can talk sports all day. Well today he found out I collected sports cards from ‘79-‘96. He’s like a kid in a candy store. He’s a big texan fan but his eyes lit up when he saw the autographed Tony Dorsett, Billy Joe Dupree and Too Tall Jones football cards. They might wind up as his Christmas gift someday. We have to win these little fellas over to the good side ;)

Yes we do! Dabz gif of Witten with his shirt off only affects the females. The males will require different incentives.

Yes indeed :muttley:

He’s still looking through the cards and found a couple thousand dollars worth already. The Mrs is saying sell sell sell now lol. They aren’t in mint condition but I’m pretty sure I would still get an ok ROI. I gave him a Cowboys Team set and several other cards. Even a Bagwell Rookie card

Morning, Pops and Pen Pals. Welcome to the Weekend! The condo complex here is starting to look like a ghost town. I don't know whether the virus sent everyone home early or the fact that I started sitting on my balcony and playing the accordion while yodeling. Enjoy your weekend, folks.

Morning Pops and fellow shut ins, this is truly extraordinary to see this entire resort as deserted as it is and in my almost 4 years here, I've never seen anything like it. This is usually a very busy place, even in the off season with meetings held at the hotel's conference center but it is empty with the only traffic an occasional local. Eerie feeling when I am used to being surrounded by people.

This is how I picture the Zombie Apocalypse. It is a basic fallacy in thinking to assume the zombies would save a retirement area for last because there are too many skinny people. There may be an inordinate amount of skinny seniors but they're slower and easier to catch. Stoke up here and move on to Austin and the younger, faster and more tender prey.

Stay safe and thirsty, my friends.

Morning Pops and everyone.

What can I say that hasn't been said? Probably nothing.

Boss informed staff yesterday that effective Monday OT is not allowed (not that it's necessary right now anyway but there's those that milk the clock...) and business hours would be monitored and determined on a daily basis. I'm supposed to close on this house on April 15th and I'm beginning to wonder if it will happen and if I'll ever realize that dream. It's very upsetting. Seems like every time I have forward momentum something happens, and now this stupid virus nonsense. Boss and his wife are not taking home a check going forward until this thing washes out so they can keep staff paid (most clients have closed doors so nobody is paying) and if it comes to keeping only essential staff I was told I would be kept on, so there's that. Makes me feel like I matter anyway.

Hopefully everyone does their part and this passes sooner rather than later.

Everyone be safe and be well.

Chin up, Jan. You can still close even if you don't gather at a title company to do so. Talk to your realtor and loaner on Monday to get reassured. They are as motivated as you are to get the deal closed and might even want to move it up. Things have slowed down for them because of this as well.

You matter and so does your boss and his wife, not everybody would do that for their employees. That would be one of the positives I would take away from a time when many show their true colors.

Yeah, they've been pretty darn good to me over the years.

Scratch one worry off your list.

My older son is concerned about his company and his job. He's got a lot of company in that that goes along with this situation. Bad enough to be locked down but to add that to the list is overkill.

Some people are going to be hurt much worse than me through this, I know. I'm thankful for what I have to be sure.

Morning Pops and everyone..

Dabz, I was going to reply to yours above but the system wouldn't let me. Said I don't have permission??? Anyway, mine was closed too. We have access to services online and I was told that they would still be recording the message so I plan to go there later.

Lol. You're quick on the draw my friend. I deleted it to revise that's why you couldn't reply. It's horrible not being able to go to church. Yes, we too can receive the good message on line. I miss seeing all my friends. @RGV_C_Los was yours open?

Our church is closed today. I imagine it will be for a few weeks.

It's cold, gray and quiet. Normally I wouldn't have an issue with "quiet", but it's creepy. Downtown always has its normal noise, but all you ever hear are the occasional sirens from emergency vehicles these days. Can't quite explain what it looks like but, minus the damage, it's something akin to an old war movie after the battle...that creepy silence. It's a ghost town down here.

Same here but it does serve as a constant reminder these are strange times we are in.

I often think about the Greatest Generation and what they endured in the Spanish Flu pandemic, Great Depression and WWII but now we've had Vietnam, 9-11 and now this and do not know the residual effect of this yet.

Yeah, I don't like this at all. Living alone makes you feel even more alone because you can't even get out in what used to be the hustle and bustle of the weekend. I'm going to try to video call some special people today (grandkids). I need a shower first lol. All this lack of rush to get things done has made me extremely lazy:).

Good morning Pops and the hunkered down of the Pops thread. The time is passing so slowly that I feel like I am stoned. I am waiting for some good news and each morning I do not see it. I find myself focused on the other side of this when it peaks, only then can I exhale. And that's not prevention, that's just being in that uneasy nervous state that the unknown brings.

I live alone and am used to this but I find myself getting up and pacing or going out for a walk to be reminded of what Jan mentioned. Where signs of life were so abundant, there is a quietness that has an ominous feel to it.

I awoke this morning to imagining this scene all over our country. "Mommy, why can't we go see Grandma and Grandpa"?

Most of you know me, a pretty vivid imagination is a lot of fun most of the time but it can be a most troubling companion as well. And I dream a lot, think it's a byproduct of the meds I take, and more than once I have dreamed about the Fusco family in NJ and one time my family, the missing ones, were at that table.

I do not have nightmares but the reality of the dreams about just everyday things can be so real that I have a hard time shaking them throughout the day. And I comfort myself with this thought. "I live alone and pretty much keep to myself. At least I don't worry about infecting others, like my family'.
