Same, that's what we need. Fair offers for our pick. Sufficient compensation that it would normally take to make that sort of move AND for the player in question.

Bulk up, maturity, have the body healthy enough to withstand the practices in the NFL.

Depends on who is there and what offers we receive. If we do not get a good offer and Pitts, Surtain, Sewell, and Slater aren't there, then I think our best choices are Barmore, Horn, Parsons (if available), Moehrig, and maybe Collisn from Tulsa. I'd like Parsons the best of that group because he fits the LB need the most. If he's unavailable, then I'd go either Barmore or Horn. Horn would be great, but this draft is loaded with a lot of excellent CB options including Adebo who we can get between rounds 2-4. Moehrig would be my other favourite option, unless we get Grant at 44. If we do, then Barmore is my choice because of the sheer lack of DTs. Moehrig, otherise, is my choice followed by McNeil, Davis/Adebo, and Schwartz (WR Auburn).
Would not go horn at 10
Trade back a few slots , he should be available in the mid teens.
Maybe pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd?

He might be infatuated but we need an impact player on defense someone on 3rd and 5 in the 4th quarter can come up with a clutch takeaway

Pitts would be hella at #10. Playmakers move the needle in the league these days.

But too rich to climb slots.

I don't know about this. Pitts is not a typical TE so to exploit his abilities the OC needs to create mismatches as much as possible. I have not seen Kellen Moore use his TEs as much other than blockers and possession receivers.
Another piece like Chase or Pitts has the ability to push mismatches now.
How do you cover our 3-4th option, run Zeke out of the backfield in a 3wr set and lets see what Zeke brings in opposing defensive schemes,, then you really have a defense on their heels when your offense can dictate Run vs Pass.
All Im saying is that there is a fairly decent chance that Pitts or Chase but not both, get to ten.

Who is this different Jerry Jones that you speak of?

Jerry is far from a cool customer in situations like this. He's been known to have loose lips and say things he shouldn't. So it should not be a surprise to anyone that Jerry may have said something to someone that got back to a reporter.
I dont think we lose either way honestly, Jerry can light it up at this point, I hope he starts running his mouth and some teams with high 2nd round draft picks like the Jags, Jets, Falcons, Dolphins start twitching and starts the phones ringing.
I want a trade back out of ten more now than I was 8-10 weeks ago.
Harvest value with a roster full of holes, this draft in the 2nd round is like a literal pool of OL and DL that can start on several teams asap, and Dallas leads that list, doors wide open for help on both sides of the trenches.
Hard decision between taking a potential blue chipper if even there at ten, or taking a high second plus next years first and a 3rd this year would get it done in this draft,, this is more than a 1 year draft rebuild.

You can say EXACTLY the same statement about every player also. I think he will be great you dont and thats fine. Thus is a stance that can be taken by everyone about everyone. I know this for sure though: we havnt won squat playing it safe, if the Cowboys believe Pitts to be special go get him.

That's right and that is why I don't make proclamations about college players until I see what they do in the NFL. You just another one of those that think because a player did well in college against the majority of other college players that don't make it to the NFL that they will be great in the NFL. I hold off making proclamations like that until I see what they do against a much much higher level of players that are in the NFL. It's people like you who don;'t recognize or remember all of the bust players in the NFL that had good numbers in college but when they got to much better talent in the NFL they didn't do so well. There's even a college player that was taken with the first pick that turned out to be a total bust. But you keep thinking every college player that has good numbers in college will turn into big stars in the NFL, but I'll wait and see what they actually do in the NFL before making any proclamations.

Exactly. This is also farce. Can't believe people believe the Manziel story. If Jerry really wanted him we'd have gotten him. Jerry was selling drama for his buddies in the media as he might be now.

What? Jerry involved in drama with the Cowboys?

:omg:

Here's something many forget when looking at the measurables. The hugely vast majority of college players play against p;layers that never make it to the NFL. So what a college player does against those players is no guarantee that they will have those same types of numbers in the NFL.. Yes we have to look at something but we also have to keep everything in context.
.
.

Oh totally agree, but when I said measurables I was talking about objective things like his size, speed, jumping ability, etc...

I do not see Zach Wilson as a sure-fire franchise QB. He could be another Ryan Leaf or Josh Rosen for all we know. BYU played few good teams last year and he was horrible against one good team from what I heard.

The Jets have a bunch of picks next year so they could get their potential franchise QB next year. Who is to say that drafting some offensive weapons this year like TE and WR and a QB next year is not a better way for the long run?

By the way, even if the Jets draft Wilson, I seriously doubt he will be ready until next year so a bridge will be needed anyway.

Teams approach the way they use their potential "franchise" quarterback, did the Cowboys use a "bridge" quarterback after they drafted Aikman? No it was sink or swim. The drafted Walsh but he was trade bait, just another way for Jimmy to put the fear of failure in Aikman...

Not surprised if it's true. Hopefully not infatuated enough to try and trade up for him.

Fear not my friend. Miami isn't moving from pick 6. There's a bidding war for the Falcons pick at 4. So lets remove them. If neither draft Pitts and the Bengals draft Devonta Smith, It's possible Jerry may trade up with Detroit. It should only cost a 3rd rounder. Would Detroit do that? Yeah, if they're stupid. So I don't think you have anything to worry about.
