If the Jags are the only true competition, the Cowboys have Murray over a barrel. Going to the Cowboys vs. the Jags is at worth at LEAST $2 million/year, and I'm not joking. The Jags are overpaying for really mediocre players. They have no choice because NO ONE is going to Jacksonville unless they make offers that are ridiculous in comparison. Translation: the Jags are going to be perennial losers for a long time. Murray wants to win, he wants to be high profile.

And there is always the Adrian Peterson factor, Murray is worried about that. I think one of three teams is in play - the Cowboys, Eagles and Cards. I really have no idea if the Eagles or Cards are interested but those would be landing spots that could sway Murray.

Speaking of Adrian Peterson and the Eagles.....yikes...
Would you fear the Eagles more if Adrian Peterson was their RB or Demarco Murray?

I do not like the idea of Peterson playing in philly at all....I doubt it would ever happen anyway.

Murray all day. Murray is much younger and stronger at this point. Murray is a much bigger threat.

I think fan boards are making a way bigger deal out of those things than the team or Murray's agent. Peterson is still under contract and would be just as expensive as Murray. Jacksonville being willing to overspend by $2M bodes well for them, not Dallas.

Minnesota and Peterson aren't going to do us any favors. I doubt anything happens with him until June unless a trade is made somewhere.

Murray is doing nothin wrong in taking the money, I don't see it as a negative or positive. I think he would help this team again this year but don't want them to pay too much. It's isnt just the running, Romo isn't as mobile and having a good blocking back that is also capable of recognizing and picking up blitzes is a plus. I hope whoever we get to replace Murray is as adept as he is; as far as hoping he does well for another team.... Why not, he didn't leave here like Ratliff or several other players that basically robbed the team and left in controversy. I Don't look at it like the team made a mistake, they made a decision to move on as did he and j hope it goes well for both just as everyone mad at Rat and players like him hoped he would fall on his face how he left.

CJ Spiller, come on down. What we'll lose in the 'dirty yards' as Garrett calls them, Spiller will make up for with his home run speed and game changing abilities. Murray gets to the second level and looks to run outta bounds or lay down, Spiller takes those to the house - especially with the gaping holes the great wall will be busting open next year.

I agree, he is doing nothing wrong. If he leaves then see you. Adios. You are no longer part of the Cowboys organization so I have no interest in him.

He got franchised because they could not come to an agreement but it is still 13 million nothing to sneeze at. How many jobs out there pay 13 mill a year? No too damn many. Instead of acting like a man as others have he want to make threats? I like Dez but he has some growing up to do. He lets his emotions get the better of him.

What threats?

And just because it's a lot of money that doesn't mean it's what he is worth.

If you were worth 40m would you take 5 since it's a lot of money?

I told you dude, the media has terrible sources & can't get to the real story, so they have to reach for stuff like this. The twitter fiasco has been mentioned by the top sports websites & most reporters. I agree that it's sad that this is what it has come to.

Todays media is all about " the scoop" but in reality most of that is just to keep their name "relevant".

They are like weather forecasters - can be wrong most of the time, but people still want to hear what they have to say.

Adrian should factor in how the Philly fan base would treat him if he shows any signs of losing a step, or gets off to a slow start.

I dread to see the signs they would produce regarding child abuse ......

of not returning after being franchised

because others who have been franchised in the past do not let it affect them emotionally, most understand the reasoning for it. Dallas has told him they will continue to work on the deal.

Again I like Dez I'm tired of the rips on Murray as if he meant nothing to the team, yet all year long most around here would claim he has to run it at least 25 to 30 times in this game to win and now he is dirt? anyone can do the job? His value to this team and the success was great and now the season is done, hey he is easily replaceable. BS

Lesean McCoy is a dancer more than a RB. I don't see him grinding out 1800 yards on the cowboys last year. Murray is much more physical than McCoy. Peterson is hard to really know right now because of his absence and age. Leveon Bell cant stop getting himself in trouble and is hardly worth mentioning as the best back in the game.
Even if you have Murray fifth.....McCoy. Lynch, Peterson all have contracts much higher than Murray is probably being offered.

Was Murray a product of the offensive line when he averaged such high YPC in his previous seasons?

McCoy is a dancer out of necessity. He may not have gotten 1800 yards behind this line because he wouldn't need as many touches due to his home run capability.

Bell has his issues. But you can't deny his skills. I unfortunately get to watch a lot of Steelers games and I am a little jealous. He makes it look almost effortless at times.

Risen said it best. It often looks like Murray was shot by a tranquilizer gun when he breaks open for a decent gain. That's all before he awkwardly heads out of bounds.

Man this team is screw. I watch the reply of the Lions game last night and Murray help us win that game. If he didnt start to open things up I doubt we would have won.

Hes a free agent. So technically, he is not a Cowboy anymore. However, once he figures out he is not going to get what he thinks he is worth, he will be back. That's my wishful thinking because I want him back. There's always that one team..... that overpays.

this never meant anything...he's not technically a Cowboy anymore...he's not a teenager throwing a hissy fit and taking down his Cowboy's posters.

I hope JJ doesnt rely on just the draft........

Maybe they really do think "anybody" can replace him, or a platoon of backs will be okay. The Pats did it....? I hate to see DM go. But money is money and I wish him luck.

Jerry has made some miscalculations with RB's he thought Troy Hambrick could replace Emmitt and that certainly didn't work out. He thought Marion Barber could do as a starter what he did as a situational back and even Cowboy fans knew that Barber wouldn't last long as a starter with his lack of speed and seek and destroy running style. Jerry thought using a #1 on a complementary back in Felix Jones would be a smart move and didn't take long for that to flame out.

He made a comment during this past season that he felt Randle could be very productive behind this OL. The Pats can interchange players and stay in contention every year due to Brady and Belichick. Don't remember them ever losing their MVP from the previous season to free agency can't recall any team having that happen.
