Murray will be too expensive to keep

We'll see. I think he'll be "cheaper" than a lot of members here think.

It's interesting, because Murray has had some significant time off due to injuries, but he's also a player who will step out of bounds to avoid a unnecessary hit. My father and I call him "business decision" Murray.

The days of a running back getting paid big just because he's a #1 are over. Unless you're uber-elite, I don't think you're getting big money anymore. Someone with an injury history like Murray's isn't likely to demand a big contract.

Again, still waiting for someone to tell me a top 10 running back that is getting paid less than 6.4 million dollars...

I think some people have an issue with his durability, GB.

Being in the top 10 one season in rushing does not at all make you a "top 10 back", in many peoples view.
In 2012, he was 29th in the league in rushing, for example.

I happen to think he'll have a great year this year.
If so, then, and only then, would more people say he's a top 10 back. It wouldn't surprise me if Dallas is thinking that way too.

You should compare his numbers with Gore's then.

Gore's numbers over the last three years are FAR better than Murray's.
But last year they were very close, with Murray being more efficient.
Again, 1 good year after 2 years that were nothing special, may not be enough for GMs.
All it takes is one though.

In the NFL you don't necessarily need to have a long career of acheivements to get paid. Look at Hatcher for instance. Hatcher is making nearly 7 million dollars per year based almost entirely on the year he had last year.

Tell that to many one year wonders who get paid around the league.

You all will eat your words when we actually run the ball, and you will see Murray have top 3 yards /TD's.

His running style is rare. You can't replace that. He would be a steal for 4 mil per year. You cannot replace Murray through the draft even with our OL.

I don't think any of y'all are considering that how he preforms this season will dictate how much money he gets/if we want to keep him. If the dude rushes for 1500 yards and plays 16 games (which could be very possible with our OL and if we actually commit to running the ball more), I think you'd have to consider paying him some good money. If he misses 6 games and under performs, then obviously you move on or see if he'll take a cheap deal.

Bottom line is, we need to wait til the season is over before we start making 2015 off season decisions.

Murray's replacement right here... only if he is BPA on the Cowboys draft board at the slot they will be picking in the second round.. The Supreme Todd Gurley Highlights:

With a name sounding like "girley," he'd better be all he's cracked up to be in the NFL. If not, they'll be cracking jokes about him.

I truly believe how Murray manages to avoid injury this season may very well have a lot to do with whether he's resigned or not.

It really isn't.... I'm starting to think you guys don't know how much players get paid...

Try adding a little consideration and maturity to the conversation.

It will result in a more meaningful debate.

This is very true.

But, again, it's the Commanders...

Definitely agree with you.

I don't see anything happening with Murray's contract until after this season plays out.

And that will determine his worth and asking price, which will, in turn determine whether or not he stays in Dallas.

A career-defying season in my opinion.

He should be highly motivated.
