Soooooo, you haven't seen everything you care to see yet?
For what it's worth, I already had you on "ignore". I should have known anything you have to say in this thread is just trying to start another argument.

For the record, the Vatican catacombs were closed when I visited. I'm certainly not going to make another trip to Europe just to see it now. I've already seen enough.

Back to "ignore" for you.

Had a feeling I knew the diagnosis.

When you say family, you mean wife and kids? Or relatives?*

IMO if it is close family I would at least talk to them and see what they say. You only live once, make sure you don't have any regrets 3 months from now and it's too far gone.

May I ask what age range you are in and what type of cancer/stage?

* I bring this up cause I remember reading on reddit some dude got the same diagnosis and had the same mindset. Had a wife and all. Wanted to keep it to himself and strangers.
However, he changed his mind once people brought up that cancer hurts the person diagnosed and his loved ones. Especially people who are truly close to you in life. Would be one hell of a shock to all of a sudden see your husband go from "healthy" to hospice in a short order.

I feel for you man but I think his response was only meant in support. CC is a good dude is all I'm saying, at least he has been to me. Sorry, I don't know the history between you guys though.

Joe, CC is, at worst, joking with you. I promise you he has no malicious intent. I would have thought his previous posts would show how sincere he is in his concern for you and your loved ones.

Joe....don’t dwell on it. Hospital is going to dump a load on you. Just go along with treatment, but don’t let it rob all your happiness. I see people...many miserable and rightfully so. A lot of it is from appts and heath care and this and that and you’re tired, sick and sore...mental well being is your best comforting friend. Go do some things and break the rules a tad, enjoy yourself and others in your life, spoil yourself on a slice of pie after lunch. Try to find if you can a good sweet soft spoken home aid to come by once a week or something if you do go full treatment. Makes a huge difference...

Argument? Joe, you are the one that said you'd seen everything you wanted to see, I was just picking up on that as there might just be more to see.

You can ignore me, I cannot ignore an obvious call for help. You started this thread as exactly that and I know you've snapped at posters here, including me, and I thought maybe I was seeing something behind that but maybe it was just a personal dislike for me.

And evidently, we've crossed swords and had arguments in the past and you decided to quit and "ignore" me? No harm quitting an argument because you are tired of it. Big difference in quitting on what you're talking about in this thread. Maybe I misinterpreted the intent of this thread but I read this as anything but "I am ready to checkout".

You can ignore me; just don't ignore the others that need you in their life.

Cancer. Still haven't told anyone in my family. I don't think I'll seek treatment. I've done everything I want to accomplish, seen every part of the world I care to see, and then some. I think I'm done. I'm not looking for well wishes so keep them to yourselves, as well as your prayers. I'm not looking for sympathy. Just seeing if actually writing it down will wake me up from my shock.

Oh wow! I'm so sorry, my friend! *Hugs* I will be praying for you and your family.

Many many many times doctors misdiagnose. And doing nothing about it might be best thing.

Thank you for speaking out. I respect your wishes to live the remainder of your days, however long they last, as you see fit. If you choose to, talk with your family. Support can help if it's what you wish.

Fight the good fight Joe. Don’t give up, your family is watching.
Praying for you man.

As of last night, my mom is in hospice care. I’m watching her now as she sleeps. She tries to get out of bed and walk around. I’m making sure she’s safe. She’s 93, soon to be 94. I expect full recovery and so does she. She has fought hard and is still fighting hard. All her kids who now are all retired will follow her example.

Don’t go down without trying.

Joe,

Whatever you decide to do. Get treatment, not get treatment, etc.

please do NOT accept any medical advice from anyone on this message board about alternative treatments or “it being best to not seek treatment due to occasional misdiagnoses”.

Find the best oncologist you can. Go to them. Get the best information you can FROM A DOCTOR and make your choice based on that.

I have seen oncologists cry both before and after having to give people bad news. They are human just like anyone else, and aren’t perfect. But they are also highly trained and educated to make sure you get the best treatment they can provide. The large large large majority of them do care and want their patients to get healthy. Believe me

God speed Joe.

+1

Take the advice of the medical professionals. Most cancers can now be cured.

I know someone who was diagnosed with cancer and was into alternative treatments. Went with the alernatives rather than following medical advice. Didnt last long. Left a wife and two young children. Heartbreaking.

As someone once told me, if "alternative medicine" treatment really worked, it would no longer be called alternative medicine, it would real medicine.

Tough news to be unloading on yer' friend's there Joe King( my father fought it to no avail ( throat)& my mother half way embraced it(stomach) idk Joe, sometimes when I ponder on these things, I listen to that Warren Zevon song "my S***'s f***ed up" and admire the way he'd faced it head on enuff to compose a song about it, yer' one of the few I genuinely consider as to being a good friend here, brother.

I absolutely hate to hear this, Joe. I have no say in how you choose to face it. I can only hope you choose to stick around for that next Cowboys Super Bowl with us. I'm expecting one within the next twenty years. Truthfully though, accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior is the most important decision you could make. We'd rather have you here with us and will lift you up in prayer for as long as you need.
