NBA 2016 Offseason: Draft, Trades & Free Agency

Lakers sign Mozgov to 4 years 64mil
Knicks close to signing Noah, 4 years, 72mil

This I don't get. I mean, I don't know what kind of offense Walton is going to run but I would expect that it is more of an up tempo type scheme. Mozgov is a 30 year old half court option at best. Seriously, I don't understand this unless he is part of another deal for somebody else (ABQ says that with all kinds of false hope in his voice).

Hassan Whiteside stays with Miami. Damn.

Yeah, a lot of teams and fans probably feeling this way. Good for him, if that's the right for him, then that's good. Lakers could have used him though.

In all of this free agency activity, I've noticed there's one team who's name is noticeably absent.........and wonder why.

I keep hearing about how intelligent Mark Cuban is. He appears to be very much like Jerry in relishing his active involvement and outspoken role with the team he owns. I wonder if he's created a "brand" or environment that players don't particularly like.

Its been my experience that when intelligent people don't get the outcomes they want, they change their approach to solving the problem. I'll be curious to see if Cuban tones down his schtick.

Celtics reportedly going to offer Horford the max tonight. Keep an eye on Durant if this happens

I have a lot of respect for the player and I realize that we kind of all have to reset the baseline a bit compared to even a couple of years ago... but there is no dimension or plane of existence where Mike Conley should ever have the richest contract in NBA history. It's absurd.

No one wants to go to the mavs and be average at best, you need either some good players or a promising young core to attract top FA talent in the NBA, right now the mavs have neither

People hate their teams being quiet in FA, especially with a lot of holes, but honestly, if a team is going to miss on Durant this year, it's best to save it for next year. That's going to be a bonanza, and it'd be better to not pay out on high contracts this year.

The Celtics are intriguing to listen to, but there is a zero percent chance he signs with them, for the simple fact that they aren't better than Cleveland even if they add him and Hartford, let alone the teams out West. Now, if Durant signs a 2 year deal, with a player option and hits free agency again next year, and the Celtics get the #1 pick, then it may happen.

They could still package pics and land a Jimmy Butler.

I think pitch they make involves who they intend to move those pics for. They probably aren't pitching Horford to Durant. They are probably pitching Horford and another star to Durant. Could be intriguing, but I dont think it will be intriguing enough for him to sacrifice the money he would by signing with the Celtics ( or Clipper, or Warrior, or Spurs) over a short term deal with OKC.

Clippers supposedly had a great meeting with him. Warriors not so much apparently

Now could a team with Durant, Harford and lets just say Jimmy Butler beat the Western.....Hard to say. They look sexy, but Im growing tired of these "super teams" and those teams also have a tendency to under perform.

As a fan, I would rathee they just keep the pics honestly. Build like the Warriors and Spurs did. They have the ability to add two more top 5 talents to their roster in the next 2 years, and Horfords addition should have them playing 50 win ball. Playoff fodder yes, but it gets those young players instituted in winning team ball and is probably a better way to build a strong long term championship contender as opposed to a window of 4 years where you may not even get 1.

The Warrior won 140 games two Finals appearances and an NBA Champion over the last two years. Who did they buy?

Some crazy contracts for some average and subpar players. What's LeBron going to get a 4 year 240 million? Just nuts.

Yea, these new deals are crazy. I get teams have to spend, especially with the floor and the increase in cap space, but damn.

Never would of guessed someone like Tyler Johnson(underrated but unproven) would get a 4yr 50mil contract if you asked me a year ago.

Deron Williams back to the Mavs @ $10M for one year according to Mark Stein via ESPN.
