Comparing parsons to kawhi is like when people tried to compare shareef Abdul Raheem to Duncan back in the late 90's. It's hysterical. Numbers don't tell the whole story, otherwise melo is the best player in the nba
Carmelo went for the money like most do. And really who can blame him?
san antonio spurs fans are proving burm right about their delusions. too much river water i guess.
my point was very simply and irrefutable.
the spurs young ascending 2/3 Leonard had worse stats than Parsons this year in the playoffs... and virtually all 3 years of their career.
i never said parsons was a better defender or even a better player.
i said he had better stats... and he does.
and said neither player has hit a ceiling at these tender ages.
i also noted through the first 6 games of the playoffs it was not even close.
leonard was fairly bad versus dallas and parsons was arguably the best rocket.
chandler parsons was added to USA Basketball as well and they clearly have no idea about talent....
carmelo doesn't have the leagues best stats but he does score the most, if somewhat inefficiently.
he just got paid 122 million dollars and had his pick of max deals.
any spurs fan those doesn't think parsons would be excellent in the spurs system is flat lying to themselves.
he is above average in shooting, passing and ball handling with 3 point range at 6'9".

can't get over lebron going to the cavs, such a cool story. its crazy how much i cheered against him while he was in miami but now i genuinely hope he wins big in cleveland. those fans are too real, they wouldn't be leaving a finals game early cuz their team is down a little. miami heat "fans" are whack. i think next year is the last year the spurs will be able to compete for the title. Hopefully we win it next year, then cleveland can win it while we rebuild.
Schooled again. You continue to show your ignorance about NBA basketball. Spurs players DO NOT CARE ABOUT STATS.
I won't be rooting for them. I pretty much said bleep Cleveland when the NBA once again handed them the first overall pick this year.
I'm a Sixers fan and a Cavs hater from this point forward.
i can understand your frustration there, but there is one caveat. you guys ended up with the best player in both the past 2 drafts IMO. if they can come back to health, it will be duncan/robinson 2.0 and a dynasty in the making
I think that's a little unrealistic. I don't think Noel is in Robinson or Duncan's league as a prospect.
Nobody has said Parsons is a bad player. Nobody has even said Parsons isn't a very good player. I would gladly take him on the Spurs roster. Not over Kawhi, if that was the choice, but I think he'd be great on their team.
All I've said is that I don't think he's all-star caliber. I think he's a very good role player - one of the best in the league, just not an all-star. And that I think Kawhi is the better player - but Kawhi being good and Parsons being good aren't mutually exclusive.
Spurs fans aren't homers any more than other team fans (Mavs fans, especially) try to discount the Spurs. Both are extreme all the while thinking they're being objective.
I agree, people don't realize how much that extra money will set up their family for generations to come.
so, you don't have a retort to the fact that he has better stats playing a hell of a lot more minutes? you can't just keep trowing "he has better stats" and completely ignore the fact that he played a quarter of basketball more per game. you can't ignore the fact that kawhi is light years ahead defensively. Who was guarding lillard on that game winner? parsons. I don't know what kind of denial you're living in, but any GM in the league would take kawhi over parsons and its not even close. here are some stats you are choosing to ignore...
per 36 in the playoffs...
parsons 16.7 ppg 5.9 rpb 43% FG 36% 3PT 73% FT BORN IN 1988
kawhi 16.0 ppg 7.6 rpg 51% FG 42% 3PT 74% FT BORN IN 1991
and thats just on offense, thanks for getting lawyered, lesson free of charge tonight

KAWHI>>>>>>>>>>>>>...
ROFL, simpleton, there are a ton of Parson Chandler videos for fanboys like you.
per 36 numbers are absolutely meaningless, almost as meaningless as youtube videos.
ESPECIALLY in the playoffs.
playing LESS minutes is certainly easier than playing more.
you have yet to present a salient fact of any sort that relates in any way to what I have stated.
bottom line was clear, parsons had better playoff stats than the NBA Finals MVP while being 25.
Is that as impressive as being a Finals MVP at 23? Nope.
Never said it was.
I said it was impressive and worth paying 15m a year, and it is.
If you want a deep dive into Kawhi we can do that.
But I am going to point to the Dallas series that we both watched every game of.
He played over 32 MPG versus Dallas and was pretty bad.
The opposing SG scored over 20PPG, and Kawhi shot poorly at 6 of 19 from 3 and only hitting 59% of his free throws for 11.9 PPG.
He wasnt a factor on defense at all, allowing 109 points per 100 possessions.
He had a lot of turnovers and a turnover percentage of 14%.
His overall game rating score was only 5th highest on the Spurs for that series.
