Correct. Our first year with Dez. The 2009 season with the playoff win was one which had many people worried about our WR ability because we had cut TO.
Pay then man he's earned it
Ridiculous.
Romo is a QB. Dez is just a receiver. Who was the great wide receiver for the Super Bowl champions last year?
Edleman and Gronk... Brady did enough to get them to the show. But I doubt the production they got from those guys can't be replace any time soon.
Edelman is Cole Beasley. Gronk is a tight end who blocks like an offensive lineman and catches like Dez Bryant.
Doesnt matter they do the same thing.
I think more and more....I am becoming convinced....that Dez will NOT play for the franchise tag!
That post is a little out of context haha. I posted it in one of the many merged threads.
He's been paid almost 12m for what he has done already. It wasn't community service.
And they are willing to pay him another 28m the next 2 years..........the Horror.........
That is over 40m on the field alone and doesn't count anything he gets off the field.
Ahhh so just speculation spouted as fact here on the zone.
Par for the course.
Methinks Dez doth protest too much.
22 years ago, Emmitt held out for more $$$, but he was not locked in, and still negotiating. After an 0-2 start, he got the contract he wanted.
No doubt, he was clearly underpaid in '92, rushing for over 1,700 yds and getting $465K. And JJ was definitely wanting to make things right, but they were more than $8mil apart as the season began. JJ caved and made him the highest paid RB in history, @ $13.6mil. Fortunately for us all, he earned it.
Dez may have dreams of such leverage and relative importance, but he's in a different dilemma -- he will only hurt himself with a holdout past July 14, when the franchise tag gets locked in.
Surely his agent and attorneys have made this clear. His media tantrums are indication that he's realized his predicament, and he's appealing to public opinion to rise up and smite the 'Boys FO.
Will likely sign at the deadline for something that he can claim victory on, while the FO will have actually achieved what they wanted in the first place.
And neither of them get Calvin Johnson money.
If Dez doesn't sign, isn't he a UFA next year?
None of these guys who say we shouldn't pay up think about this. Regardless of how much we like Jason and how much he grows every year, he isn't Bill Belichick. Regardless if how much we love Tony, he isn't Brady. Our team is built completely different. NE will probably start the season off 3-1 or 4-0 without Tommy Boy. What would our record be for the first four if Tony wasn't available? Those guys are first ballot HOF guys who could go down as the GOAT's....We need all the pieces of our puzzle. If we have them, we could have a special year. If we don't, it's over...
Can you imagine what this year would be like if Dez holds out, and if Williams and/or Beasley gets hurt in TC. That's why we have to pay Dez, and move in with this craziness.
This could get ugly. I really hope a deal is done by Wednesday
oh great a team held hostage by mr saggy pants.
most of yus here say he be the second coming but no player be expendable!
but his enablers half persuaded him he is.
luckily stephen jones half backbone.I dont care if we play a rookie but he has to want to play here.
