I'll welcome him back, no problem. Dez will eventually sign, be it contract or Tag. When that happens, I'll be happy to see him back and I will enjoy watching him play. It's not personal for me. It's business.

Yeah, if the holdout threats are just threats, it's just business. As an actual holdout will decrease future earnings, an actual holdout is no longer business but petulant.

Keep in mind, the NFLPA hates the franchise tag.

And the NFLPA has money.

Dez could be taken care of if he agrees to take the league on over the tag.
What does this even mean? The franchise tag is in the CBA. How is Dez Bryant going to take on the league over the tag? You think the other 31 owners feel an ounce of sympathy for Dallas' predicament? (well maybe Denver does :D)

Most importantly, what planet are you living on that you think the NFLPA is going to give Dez Bryant tens of millions of dollars to hold out??

Dez Bryant is no longer the honorable soldier fighting on our side. After the threats to sit out games he is a terrorist, endangering the entire season for everyone in Cowboy Nation. No matter how this turns out, I will not welcome him back. I hope he never gets his deal from us. He is cancer.

Overreact much?

It's the biggest regret the union has. By controlling what the elite players make, it's controlling what the average veteran makes.

Players are going to start doing like Hardy and insist that a clause is in their contract that prohibits the franchise tag. Dallas agreed to this with Hardy.

And the union won't give him millions, but they can certainly help. Players will support this if it helps to cripple the franchise play teams make.

Hey, I LOVE the franchise tag. I hate players moving all over the place to different teams.

You could just flip it and say the FO is the same thing. Why does Dez have to accept whatever they offer?

In fact he doesn't. He can negotiate another deal with any other team, so long as that team is willing to pay for him.

What he means is, Dallas isn't allowed to sign Dez long term after tomorrow. So a holdout is essentially pointless in that regard.

I'd disagree. It can't get him a new deal, but it can still prove a point. And when we see the offense without Dez...he will get his money in the off-season.

Right, he doesn't. And he shouldn't be expected to, and if he doesn't be accused of being a "cancer" and not a team player.

No he doesn't. He can negotiate anything he wants, so long as he has somebody willing to pay it. The offer he has on the table is not a bad deal. If he doesn't want to sign it, he can go find another deal he likes better if he can find a team that will negotiate that deal. The cancer stuff is irrelevant. It's business, nothing more.

And neither of them get Calvin Johnson money.

Yeah we all know New England is cheap. Look how they did Wes Welker. Gronk is earning 54 mill over 6 years. Could have been more if he stayed healthy and wasn't a TE.

Sorry, but the average player salary will stay the same. The only way to increase the average player salary is to increase the cap, not increase the money you give to a superstar (because for every extra dollar you give a superstar, that's one less dollar you have available for someone else).
Players are going to start doing like Hardy and insist that a clause is in their contract that prohibits the franchise tag. Dallas agreed to this with Hardy.
Hardy was in a unique situation as a highly talented player and a UFA but, due to circumstances, only wanted a 1-year deal.

Big name free agents signing long term deals won't make the same demand. There's no clause in Suh's new deal saying the Dolphins can't franchise him.
And the union won't give him millions, but they can certainly help.
Well, good luck getting Dez Bryant to be happy living off a meager stipend coming from the NFLPA.
Players will support this if it helps to cripple the franchise play teams make.
No they won't. As I stated before, well over half the league makes less than the average salary. Those guys are not interested in making any major concessions for the top 1% of players.

Dallas can just tag him for the picks. Why pay him later what they wouldn't before when he is one year closer to production declines? And he would have lost significant earnings for the 2015 season. An actual holdout would be illadvised.

What other season was ruined by one selfish person?

You are taking all this too personally. This is just business.

It's business to those making money. To me it's personal. We haven't had this good a chance to win a trophy in two decades and that can be ruined by one selfish person. If you don't get it then that's on you. If you've never experience a Championship winning season then you don't know what you are missing but that's not me. I remember the thrill of winning many NFL championships and I'm not pleased at the prospects of losing one because of one greedy person.
