I will say right now there is not a wr we could have gotten that would make a bit of difference this year or next. Why do you think Jerrah was trying for RW and BOldin? ALl we can do is hope what we have right now is good enough.

If I'm not mistaken, we will start the season with our 3/4 receivers all being older than 33 if this Horn deal is made.

We'll be lucky to win 8 games with an aged receving core like that. We all know Crayton can't catch a metal ball if his hands were made of magnets, we also know Witten can't catch the ball 15 times a game and T.O is bound to break down if we work him too hard.

God damnit Jerry, you know you could have drafted a receiver right? RIGHT?

Crayton has the best hands of any WR on this team.

Joe Horn would take Terry Glenn's roster spot.

Isn't this the group that won 13 games last year?

I'd rather go with the status quo of Crayton, Miles, Hurd, and Stanback opposite TO than bring in Horn.

Not me.

Owens goes down and this team is done.

Nobody can replace Owens, but I would rather have some option than none.

I re-read what I wrote 4 times. I don't see where I said I wanted no options.

I am pretty much on record as to what I want to happen. I certainly haven't made it any secret.

I said I would do that OVER taking a chance with Joe Horn. To me, Horn is not an option. If he comes here and plays well, I will eat my words. My stated preference above doesn't mean it is the ONLY thing I want to do. It isn't even close.

I still think we make a deal.

I'm starting to follow you from thread to thread on this topic.

No problem. I like the debate.

There are indications that Glenn *is* able to play and at a high level right now. What he's got is a contract dispute. The players all seem to think he's back. He sure seems to think he's healthy. He'd be on the field at the next opportunity if he'd make up his own mind and sign the revised contract in front of him.

Sorry, I see zero indications. I see a guy who can't pass a physical and hasn't done anything since his 'Invisible Man' performance last season.

If he thinks he's healthy, let him sign the paper and bet on himself. I don't see him doing that so far. So that tells me what he thinks.

Idgit said:
When you've got good young players with a few years in the league in need of playing experience and an option like TG available and familiar with the system, there's nothing to be gained by bringing in retreads who aren't capable of a significant contribution. There's nobody out there right now who's an obvious upgrade. Joe Horn is a backup plan.

If you want to talk about someone 'incapable of a significant contribution", look no further than Terry Glenn.

Idgit said:
If this team thinks it really needs an upgrade, they should pony up a high pick (or picks) and solve the problem. Either from the usual suspects, or from an unexpected source. Not Joe-Horn unexpected. Something like Tory Holt for a two and a three.

Good luck with that. The Cowboys have tried to acquire another receiver, but to date, the teams that have them aren't interested in moving them.

You sometimes have to consider what you can get over what you'd like to get.

I would disagree. While I'm not crazy about Horn, I would prefer him to playing Terry Glenn's waiting game any longer.

By deal, do you mean some wide receiver, or are you zeroed in on Roy Williams?

Not sure how this got turned into a Horn vs Glenn argument, but was there something in the reports that said it had to be one or the other?

yup a wr who would be cut in 3-4 years...

if we sign joe horn i doubt wed keep Terry so that would make 2 wideouts over 30

witten has never caught the ball 15 times, Terrell didn't break down last season and we worked him plenty hard, Crayton has 1 bad game and now he sucks?

get a grip

It would be the same number of WR's over 30.

Either that or you'd be cutting one of the young guys and playing the waiting game with Glenn.

That would be worse than standing pat.

So every WR in that draft class will get cut in 3-4 years? Glad to see you have a crystal ball. Can you tell me the lottery numbers for tomorrow?

T.O, Terry Glenn, Joe Horn and Crayton will all be cut in 3-4 years on this team.

Witten has had 15 catches in one game?

Terrell is a year older, but judging by you're grammar(well lack of grammar) you probably didn't know that players decline when they get older.

Crayton had a few bad games and dropped some passes. He isn't a big game player, if he was, we would have been in the Super Bowl.

I guess that sounds about right, this is one hell of a problem to have at this point.

the wideouts that were avaliable for us to draft...yah would have been cut in 3-4 years they aren't good.

When did i say Terrell or Crayton would be cut? I said Terry would be cut if we signed Joe (which i doubt)

You stated we can't count on Jason to catch 15 passes every game...i stated he hasn't done that once yet.

I know Terrell is a year older. So by him turning 33 hes all of a sudden going to play like crap? doubt it he will play tell he is near forty, like his idol Jerry Rice.

lotto numbers: 8, 12, 22, 54, 88

If Horn comes to Dallas it will not be with Glenn still on the team.

Both.

I still believe he wants to come here, that we want him, that Detroit knows they need to trade him, and will try and swing the deal.

But if you think I'd grouse about Bolden or Johnson I assure you I wouldn't.

What about someone a bit lower on the receiver list?

Any of those mentioned would be great, but if they're not obtainable, who else would you consider?

Obviously, the team needs to be willing to let him go. But what about T Holt? He's an older WR on a rebuilding team. He had at least one publicized incident on the sidelines with his HC. He runs great routes and would be the perfect complement to TO. Temperamentally, he's just what we need. Basically, he's Terry Glenn with more (deserved) hype and healthy knees.
