Just get back from vacation, dooms?:laugh2:

We have a bunch of threads discussing this top 100 list and voting, the fact that we knew 2-3 weeks ago that Romo would not be on it, and that all the NFL network analysts and coaches thought he should be (alnof with Jimmy Graham and others)....and also that Kurt Warner thought it was so dumb that he put his own top 10 QB list together and put Romo it while leaving the rookies out.

Also, the players only picked the top 20 and a list was compiled. So this is a list of players that received the most votes in the top 20....not a real top 100 list. A couple of homer picks gets someone leapfrogged real quick in that scenario.

No big deal.
I just assume that you haven't been involved in all of those other threads, or like I said, maybe out of town or way from the internet.

I'm just ready to get the season under way!:starspin

Not to split hairs or anything, but #89 and #101 are not the same. They're 12 positions apart. The main point, however, is not whether Romo is #89 or #101, but was he a better QB in 2012 than Cam Newton or Andrew Luck? IMO, the answer is "yes".
They are the same in that very little separates them. For instance, #89 may have received 20 points worth of votes and #101 may have received 14 points. One more person voting for the player at #101 could realistically leapfrog them up over the person at #89. So, in essence, they're damn near the same. 500 players vote, an extra vote here and there can change the order of #80-#110 noticeably. Much harder to change the order of the vote the higher up the list you go.

Nope, sorry...teams win/lose games, remember? That's what's always said about Romo, anyway. All we can look at is the individual performance and production by a player. I"ve read numerous times here that Romo played well enough for the Cowboys to win but his WRs/OL/Defense let him down. Well how exactly do you categorize Matt Ryan's individual production in the playoffs this year, regardless of whether or not the Falcons won or loss? He was damn good. Meanwhile Romo, in his elimination game, threw 3 INTs including the one that gave the game away.

Again, just going off of last year, Matt Ryan and Tony Romo were not essentially the same. Ryan was noticeably better.
Ryan played well this season. So did Romo, even with an injury riddled team. Romos last INT didn't give the game away. The Defense not holding the Skins to a FG attempt gave the game away.

Yeah, it wasn't Romo's LAST interception that gave the game away.. it was all 3 of them.

Get out. To think that RGIII has done anything to suggest that he is a better QB than Romo is absurd. Better athlete, sure, but he has done squat.

Better athlete? I'm not sure about that, Romo is a hell of an athlete. Smarter QB? Oh yeah.

That's not entirely true, at least when you look at Advanced NFL Statistics drive-by-drive data from the game.

time for a literary allusion:

in Midsummer Night's Dream, Titania accuses Oberon of lying by declaring: "These are the forgeries of jealousy!"

Same with Romo--is he overrated? underrated? what riles people is that he's always news

And the bard also has Pericles, the great Greek tire salesman, saying:

But, alas,
That monster envy, oft the wrack
Of earned praise

so everbody get off Romo's back. He is No. 1 in the NFL.

Maybe if he hadn't crapped the bed against the Commanders, he'd have snuck in, but that was a big stage to decide to reinforce every negative stereotype about yourself.

That's what kept him out.

Oh brother.. are you really going to try and use statistics to tell me Romo didn't throw that game away? The whole world saw it with their own eyes.

RG3 helped improve Washington from 5-11 to 10-6 and led them to their first division title in over a decade. He beat Romo twice head to head last season and the second meeting had a the division title and a playoff birth on the line. What has Romo done in his 7 years as the starter?

If Romo was the starting QB on any other team besides the Cowboys he would be on the list. In Dallas you have to be head and shoulders above your peers to be considered above average by the rest of the league and and writers.

Romo plays for another team he would be view as nothing more that a Matt Schuab at best. Once you take Romo off this team you also have to forget his weapons, J Witten, Dez, Miles Murray etc.... Also you must remember Romo is playing under a brand team not the Bills. So he has the most exposure with 3-4 prime time games. So when they guy fails he fails at the wrong time.

Do you really think Patriots fans will put up with Romo mess? What about the Steelers ? No they wouldnt and he would have the same stress place on him to at least succede. You guys must have forgotten how much scrunity Peyton was under before he finally won a bling?

The media and fan hate is warranted... This team are no longer basment dwellers this team has enough talent to make the playoffs. Also to be honest you really have to recheck your qb aituation when your qb cant get you 9 winsin this divison. Especially when your qb has always been known for poor ball security and turnovers.

It's not just about who has or has not won anything of "significance".

Who would you takes as your QB if given a choice between Romo and RGIII?

Pre-injuries it was.

Post-injuries, you guys were trotting out the 4th quarter squad from preseason games lol...

Outside of athleticism and skin color, RG3 and Vick are nothing alike.

But that argument's been beaten to death.

If Romo was the starting QB of another team and his resume was the same for that team over the past 7 years he may not have even made that list in the past. On another team he wouldn't have a Jason Witten or a even a Dez Bryant around him. Unlikely another owner/GM would have been willing to resign him for $108 million with his team missing the playoffs every year under him while his turnover issues continued in make or break games. A lot of Cowboy fans didn't want to resign Romo and wanted to move on from him after another very disappointing end to the season.

He put a lot of FANS off who supported him with his meltdown in Washington last Dec. His omission from that list has nothing to do with him playing for the Cowboys or he wouldn't have never made the list in the past. It's his reputation for laying an egg in make or break games that kept him off the list this year. A lot of players around the league don't respect him. Two years ago Ahmad Bradshaw made some negative comments about Romo on NFLN what he said seems to be the sentiment from a lot of players around the league.

:laugh2:

I actually think RGIII is still a run first QB, which makes him a lot like Vick on the field, though they are certainly different off of it.

I think RGIII has the potential to be a much better passer though, and being able to work with Shannahan should help him as well.

You don't think the Cowboys had enough talent to make the playoffs last year? If not then you must not have any hopes for this season.
