$$$

According to data obtained from the NFL by Darren Rovell of ESPN, the NFL “takes a 25% royalty from the wholesale price (1/2 retail), [and] donates 90% of royalty to American Cancer Society.”

In other words, for every $100 in pink merchandise sold, $12.50 goes to the NFL. Of that, $11.25 goes to the American Cancer Society (ACS) and the NFL keeps the rest. The remaining money is then divided up by the company that makes the merchandise (37.5%) and the company that sells the merchandise (50.0%), which is often the NFL and the individual teams.

Then consider that only 71.2% of money the ACS receives goes towards research and cancer programs. After everyone has taken their cut, only 8.01% of money spent on pink NFL merchandise is actually going towards cancer research (emphasis mine).

That is how all big charity's work, with very little actually being used for the cause.

Yup.

Was disheartened to read that the big armed force veteran charit(y)ies were doing the same ****.

I disagree. Political Correctness is totalitarian thought and language control, i.e., mind control to stifle dissent and control the masses.

I've got a nice piece of beachfront property in Arizona for you at a real great price.

Mind control

Right decision.

Next thing you know, the Ravens are wearing BLM stickers or something. Unintended consequences.

The NFL needs to stay out of this stuff.

If the Cowboys were to make a statement like that they could offend some and even hurt thier feelings. This would be a poor reflection on the NFL.

Oh no, somebody's feelings are hurt - heaven forbid.

It is un-american not to stand with our Police Officers!

Remember when players were coming out during introductions doing the "Hands Up" thing?

NFL wants to steer clear.

Again, that like BLM is a personal statement. Standing with your public servants is something we should all embrace and support as Americans! They put their lives on the line every day to keep you and I safe.

I understand. I'm just telling you what the NFL policy is on this. They say no to this stuff all the time.

Breast cancer is not racist. It doesn't check your ethnicity. It doesn't care if you wear a badge. It doesn't pick and choose it's targets. So why bash the league for having BCA tributes?

Why should we "stand up" with them? That's the job they signed up. I find this need incessant call to reverence the police completely misguided.

Don't misconstrue my take with a call to disrespect the police. It's not.

We should all people, holding any job title with respect. I think part of the reason we see this seemingly systemic problem in police culture, is because we treat them like they're doing the public a favor which breeds a culture where you think you're above the fray. Hearing constant news stories of large scale department corruption or cover up is sadly common place now. Why is that?

These folks aren't doing the job nobody else wants. They're doing exactly the job they signed up for.

Really, does your family wonder if you will come home every night. Do they fear for your safety all day long. Do you put your life on the line for others every day at your job? There are bad people everywhere, in every profession but that does not discount AT ALL the ones that are there for the right reasons and do their job the right way. They are doing the public a favor because everywhere would be like Chicago if it were not for the Police!

You are part of the problem!

Is that your oversimplified version of what police work is?

Beyond that, you crystalized my point about what's wrong culturally in our society when you said:

"They are doing the public a favor [...]"

No they're not. Not even remotely. They signed up for a job they knowingly would have the potential for those types of incidences. They also signed up for that type of work because it's one of the most well-paid jobs accessible to people with no more than an associate's degree. I live in San Mateo County in California. Public servant salaries are public information. Every year, the local paper publishes the name, job and salary of every public worker in the paper. In the year 2015, literally (I counted), two-thirds of all the public employees that made more than $100,000 a year were police officers.

They aren't doing the job nobody else wants. Trust me, there will never be a shortage of police officers because there are plenty of people trying to sign up.

Again, I'm not advocating disrespecting the police. What I am saying is we need to stop creating a culture that says we should feel beholden and endeared to them.

It's the NFL...and it's the best way for the league to straddle the line on all kinds of issues, not just hot button issues.

here's a few examples of tributes where the NFL had no issue and/or supported so just saying.....
