"According to a source, Roberts’ recommendation was not included in the investigative report following the 13-month investigation. Roberts was the only NFL employee who interviewed Thompson during the investigation."

"USAT: Why are domestic violence and sexual assault cases more difficult to investigate than other crimes?

Friel: The other major problem with these is that they generally happen not in front of an audience. It becomes a one-on-one situation in terms of interviewing people. In the domestic violence area, unfortunately when things have escalated to physical assault, you often times have physical evidence – medical records and photos that help corroborate what happened in those cases. But in the sexual assault area, most, the great majority of victims who are adults, post-puberty, have no injuries whatsoever after a sexual assault. No genital injuries, and no other injuries on their bodies. People refer to it as he-said, she-said, and it becomes interviewing one and asking what happened, interviewing the other and see if you can come up with any corroborating evidence, but it usually comes down to who do you believe? Who do you find more credible, and why? And that is a very difficult determination to make if you haven't done a lot of these cases and you don't know the right questions to ask, and you don't know what to look for when you're trying to judge credibility."

Can't make this stuff up ...

There are always things to negotiate until a final court decision is made. Zeke could agree to no court actions against the league if they vacate the suspension and retract any and all statements in which they alluded to him being guilty of DV. Jerry could get into the negotiations telling Goodell he will agree to a extension of his contract if Friel is fired and made the scapegoat. Who knows but everything is negotiable.

If the information presented is accurate, there's nothing to negotiate at all. Zero. The NFL has nothing to negotiate with if this is true. They're done.

Actually, I agree with you. If I am the NFLPA, I am not letting this go without major concessions - and not just for Zeke. This is hardball negotiations now and the NFLPA is in the driver's seat for the moment.
Exactly! The NFLPA right now has the NFL on its heels and this may be their best chance to make changes to the CBA regarding the handling of player rulings and punishments prior to the next CBA negotiations.

I think there's even a chance the NFL itself may be about ready to relinquish that authority because of all the negative press and attention, from all sides, that it brings as there is no longer an upside for the NFL. If they suspend a player for whatever reason, they look like corporate bullies and the media goes after them. If they don't suspend a player, they look soft on social issues and the media goes after them.

The NFL needs to realize that maintaining control over player rulings and punishments may seem like a good way to protect the NFL's reputation, but it is actually having the opposite effect. The fallout from an Elliott suspension or lack there of would have been much better for them had a truly independent council made those decisions.

Sure they do. They contend article 46 gives Goodell the right to do anything he wants and the Brady case only reassured that. However, if they feel they are now in a bad spot and don't want this in court, they have lots to negotiate with, namely reducing or vacating the suspension. Zeke's side would certainly listen to any offer from the league but at this point, it most likely needs to be 0 games and a retraction. To get that, Zeke would have to agree not to sue the league for anything.

I mostly think the investigation lasted so long awaiting for unknown potential evidence (ie video, photos text, etc) to surface. In the Ray Rice case, the NFL acted swiftly to punish him. However, when the elevator video released, there punishment was seen as way too lenient and the NFL was left with serious egg on its face. This is looking to be a two dozen egg omelette!!

They had the hotel surveillance video already.

Nothing gives the "right" to conspiracy to withhold testimony and evidence. Nothing to negotiate.

Zeke wants the suspension gone and his name cleared, if Henderson does that, this goes away. There's nothing to sue for.
