Well, I'm sure the Broncos would give the Cowboys permission to work out a deal if it meant they'd get a draft pick for someone they'd have to cut anyway.

I'm just not a fan of this move.

That's far from certain at this point.

Like i said previously, i would be ok with this move as long as he doesn't ask for too much money.

However, If D.J. Hackett is healthy, i would much rather we go after him.

God, I hope not. I wouldn't take Walker if Denver was giving us a 5th round pick.
Damaged goods, he'll be 30 this year. Once and for all, get young at this position and draft somebody. I'd only make a trade for somebody like Roy Williams, cause he's only gonna be 27.

Why wouldn't the Cowboys want to wait a few days?

And Walker wouldn't HAVE to agree to a new contract. He could do nothing and wait for the money to start rolling in. What are we going to do, cut him the day after trading for him? Well, that's the same situation he would have been in with Denver, so he wouldn't be any worse off.

regardless, i think if we trade for him, it will require his willingness to renegotiate his contract, like randy moss did last year with new england. i could be wrong, but isn't the idea of this trade basically amount to the right to negotiate with walker on a contract renegotiation?

This would be a nightmare....we don't get Moss, Berrian or even Bryant Johnson...not to mention probably pass on potential studs like James Hardy in the draft for a guy with creaky knees and a poor attitude.

The Cowboys and other teams like Tampa could have just used this opportunity to see what it would take to sign him once he is released. Its a way of getting around the tampering rule.

Good point.

And I would think that happens a lot.

The Raiders and Patriots weren't under any deadline pressure to get a deal done or get rid of Moss. Walker has an option bonus and a roster bonus due in the next few days, and whichever team he's on will have to pay them. If all he had was a base salary to renegotiate, that would be different. But the bonuses put a timetable on everything, and the time is almost up.

Norm just did a segment on the cowboys and wr's. He said from what he has been told and what the speculation is on a wr for Dallas is that there have been discussions with Dallas and Denver.

Apparently the deal right now is Javon Walker for a 5th round pick.

he did mention the possibility of Roy Williams still, but thinks giving a 5th for a player like walker who can step right in would be hard to pass on. he also said this is a move a super bowl team makes.

then he went into how this would allow us to use our high picks and corners and backs.

Jerry, "wow" me w/ Moss instead! IF we're going to lose Flo, I'd rather us go get Moss than bring in Walker for a 5th (not a bad trade though).....

moss would be hard to get since the pats have resigned him.

Did you see an official statement on that?

The only thing I've seen at this point was some guy from Minnesota speculating on what he 'expected' to happen.

Has there been official word yet?

When Walker is healthy the guy is dangerous - he's just never healthy.

If we did pull the trigger on a move like this for a 5th, then I expect Jones to go after the best WR in the draft "for the future" cause none of these guys will be here in 5 years.

Funny that you feel it's OK to rip on anyone who dares talk about Moss to Dallas based on some internet rumor but somehow it's OK for you to treat yet another internet rumor as 'fact'?

Seeing the irony yet?
