I'll take this portion of the response and leave it at that.

All other things aside, it looks like we agree here.

The prior comment was that Roy Williams "held the team back" and it looks like we both agree that he did.
That's crass. Thanks.

Sorry, but I kind of wanted to "cut to the chase" and not hijack this thing any longer than we already have.

On a positive note, I did read the whole thing!

I have had the good fortune of reading your comments for years, stasheroo. Hundreds of your posts have long since proven to me that you are a very intelligent individual. In my opinion (understated), there is no way that you truly believe that we agree on the snippet you replied to.

OK.

All semantics and interpretations aside, can we at least agree that Roy Williams was a disappointment in 2009 and that we'd both like to see substantial improvement?

Then we'll call it a day with this one.

I'm back to the hair splitting thread.

I agree, let's call it a day here.

Can I answer a question with a question?

When have I ever disagreed otherwise

I think its been a nightmare. We could get an UDFA to do the things he does, not to mention who we might have had with the picks we gave up. He holds the team back. He runs lazy routes and only catches the ball like 45% of the time if I remember that stat right. Then he blames other people. Can anything motivate this guy to do his freaking job? I would feel like total crap but he doesn't seem to care.

Irvin even tried to help him and he blew him off. He should have gotten punched in the mouth.

who is the UDFA?

It seemed like you were when you were contesting the comment that Williams held the team back.

I think it was arguing over the wording used rather than disagreeing with the point the author was trying to make.

Maybe it was just me misunderstanding you.

The written 'internet word' can sometimes be misleading as to the writer's true intent.

7 catches? His play gives a reason of hope but he has allot of work ahead of him.

He was too busy riding the bench because of Williams. When he came in he made catches and got first downs.

He was riding the bench because they did not feel he was ready for more than what they gave him. I like the guy and I hope with an off season he will show even more.

I think that was a mistake. I'm sure he would have dropped balls and screwed up routes just like Williams - just not as many.

Well they are with these guys day in and day out so I would have to go with what they see than what we guess. Miles also sat under BP and saw some action but coaches base what they do on what they see day in and day out when they feel a player can handle the job that player will see his time increase. I like Ogletree but RW was not the reason he did not see more time

He's not going to take time away from Crayton.

Who knows when the coaching staff would have put in Austin if Roy never went down. Roy should have been benched for at least a game so he could sit and think about his atrocious play.

As I said coaches go by what they see their jobs are on the line you can sit there and guess all day if you are wrong so what. I know from playing the game players who are showing allot during the week will get their chances. As for Austin he was playing before RW went down his role expanded when he RW went down and took that oppertunity and did great but we are also talking about a guy who had been on the team for a while and had a very good understanding of the offense unlike Ogletree.

I am sorry but as disappointed as I have been in Roy's play.

I do not cut a guy who had a bad year and still caught 7 TD's.

It too soon.

If 7 TDs is a bad year, then he can keep having bad years as long as the rest of the team keeps up their level of play.

Did you not see all the screwed up routes he ran and passes he dropped?
