All this game has done has solidified my general apathy for college football.

I realize this game isn't representative of all college games, but ugh there is some bad football being played today.

This has alot to do with all the players having to play a scheme that they never have played before. That is why you can't blitz more than 4 guys and they are playing cover 3 and cover 1 on D. The offense is a simplied pro system so that players can showcase some of thier skill sets.

This game is more for scouts and coaches to see individual play rather than team play.

I know what the purpose of the game is.

Just saying, even in an evaluation-type setting such as this, forgive me if I'm not impressed with what I've seen today.

Maybe this was the replay they were showing just before the half.

01/27/10 - Senior Bowl, Tuesday: The stars of yesterday's practice on the offensive line for the North, UMass's Vladimir Ducasse and Idaho's Mike Iupati, once again looked strong but also displayed some holes in their games. Michigan defensive end Brandon Graham showed Ducasse the sort of strong, relentless pass rush he'll face at the next level during one-on-one pass-rush drills, beating him on inside moves by using violent hands and getting to the corner. However, Ducasse held his own in team play, looking more comfortable as the day went on. - Rob Rang and Chad Reuter, The Sports Xchange, NFLDraftScout.com

If somehow we "accidently" drafted Brandon Graham, I wouldn't complain.

Even my friend has let me down today. Not a single player I liked has stood out.

:(. Maybe we can go all-juniors this draft.

I'm with you 100%. Some of the guys I thought would be standouts have been flat out awful.

What I meant is that Iupati's stock has dropped today. Mayok was raving about this guy all week and he hasn't lived up to expectations today.

If the Cowboys scouting department had him on their board for the first round it will now more than likely be dropped to a later round because he hasn't played well at all. It could change from now to the combine but I'm pretty sure that other teams are thinking the same things we all are - Iupati is over-hyped.

You're crazy.

First of all, I don' t know what game are you watching. Yes, he gave up a sack playing RG, so what ? IT happens. THe rest of the game, he's been nothing short of dominant.

All this myth about him looking like he's " holding ", " slow feet ", and so forth is pure garbage. He's been playing almost the exact way he's practiced all week long and guess what ? He's been dominant all week long.

That's when the scouts were REALLY paying attention.

Most of the scouts and GMs, if not all, are all gone home now and the impression they have is what they've saw during the week, so to say that he's dropped anything in their eyes is laughable

I hope so, because I know that if he's there with the 27th pick, the Cowboys would jump on him faster than Cody on a cheesburger, but the week reality dicates otherwise...

No it was Iuapati getting beaten by Graham I believe. When Iuapati tried to play tackle (practice that they showed, I am not 100% sire of that though).

Either way, unless you are certain why post that?

From what I saw of Ducasse, he seems like a Free type. Great feat but not enough strength at point of attack and somewhat raw? Anyway, we shall see what the scouts say about him, since seemed pretty good in game so far, other than couple times he got beat inside seems like.

He's the best on the defensive side of the field today. He got the perfect tweener size to play OLB in a 3-4 and he plays the run incredibly well, doubt he makes it to us even though he's projected as a late first round early second round. He's improved his draft stock in this week alone.

In a Senior Bowl some time ago, a certain guard named Steve Hutchinson was being made to look silly at times by his opposition. Of course one of the DTs that day was one Kris Jenkins. What I recall most is that the announcers were talking about how Steve had not given up a sack all year when he did give up a sack right on TV.

we all know he can run, but that's about the only thing he's shown today is getting into the 2nd level to spring another block

On a side note, Corey Chavous sounds like he needs to take a dump.

You never know. Darnell Dockett had a good Senior Bowl and he still ended up being drafted in the 2nd, iirc.

*checking*

No, he was a 3rd rounder. First pick in the third round.

This game has never been " pretty ". You have what ? 100 players ? where most of them come from different system trying to get together under a particulary NFL team pro system and they must do it in less than 1 week worth of practices.

What fans should take out of this game is a glimpse of how players " could " perform in game conditions. Scouts and GMs don't pay attention to it because they get very little out of it. THey've gotten most of their info during the week's practices, which is more indicative than the game.

I see alot of holding in his game, he has no "punch" with his hands which is sad to see because he has some long arms. Iupati is coachable but his draft status is gonna fall after this game for sure.

Speaking of what Adam said, I remember Parcells said he didn't like to draft offensive linemen from small schools because too often they dominated on physical talent and the O-line coach spent all his time teaching the less-talented kids.

I mean, the guy did play at Idaho. He probably never had to worry about his technique ever. Probably never played against anyone as good as Williams, either. This is why the scouts pay more attention to the practices than the games, to see if guys like him can take coaching and improve or not.

Yeah, Larry Allen, Nate newton and Erik Williams were terrible. Parcells should never, ever be quoted when it comes to evaluating O-lineman.
