And Jason Garret has a ton of high powered offenses and it was all smoke and mirrors. That's the Garret offense it looks amazing but when push comes to shove its fools gold.
It was mostly from Romo running around playing backyard football with Dez making some ridiculous acrobatic catches. That and bunch of passes to Witt running the Y option route.

in his first and only 3 seasons.........and fans couldn't wait to run him out of town. I know 34 year old successful OC's grow on trees, but this is nutty.. Before this season, PFF ranked Moore the 2nd best play caller in the NFL behind Reid in Kansas City, maybe thats a bit high, but is it? Hes 34 and has a lot of growing and learning to do, while already having a top 10 offense in every one his first 3 years on the job.. And fans literally couldn't get rid of him fast enough.

Reading the Chargers forums, they are all stoked about Moore coming over, and they should be. How many years will it take for Moore working with Herbert, a Legit Franchise QB, to get the Chargers offense playing like a top 5 unit in the NFL? 1 or 2 seasons?

I guess its easier to blame a coach than it is to blame a QB that you're stuck with. Running Moore out of town was not a logical move. Only a team like the Cowboys would fire a young talented OC with the offensive rankings he designed and called. Coaching for 3 years..3 straight top 10 rankings.. "Yeah, He Sucks!, Fire Him!!... We need a Real OC for Dak."

Lets see what Big Mike can do, which is a pretty nice consolation prize imo. If Dak leads the NFL in picks again, I'm sure it will be Mikes fault too.
14.5 points per game the last two years against the 49ers..................that is why Wonder Boy was told to get the F out.

Also.. Peyton is hired by broncos. They gave up the draft picks to get him. Maybe MM gets this year to call the plays and see what happens. If we don’t have another 12 win playoff season he maybe gone and Peyton comes here. Peyton maybe coming in to get the rust off then going to The Cowboys. JJ don’t have to give up the draft picks.

Are you suggesting the fans should not complain at or get rid of the OC. I can’t imagine

Gonna be interesting to see who Peyton picks as his OC, Same thing in Carolina, Indy and Houston,...OC are in hot demand right now....Hope Big Mike gets the OC he wants

I give complete credit to @Reality for this:

I have had some issues with Moore's playcalling for a while such as ..
  • the constant comeback routes, especially when playing against zone defenses.
  • the short of the line-to-go throws on third downs.
  • the slow developing out routes.
  • the quick wide out throws without any misdirection or attempt to hide the play.
  • the lack of attacking downfield, especially early in the game to keep the safeties honest.
  • the lack of attacking the middle of the field.
  • the badly designed trick plays.
  • the trick plays called when there is no reason to call them.
  • the lack of misdirection plays to keep the defense honest and guessing.
  • giving the quarterback too much control over audibles when it's clear he's not great at it.
JMO but there are more @Reality could have come up with. That's the tip of the iceberg. All the regular season scoring and rankings are nice, but to score 12 points and lose in a game you thought you were going to win....NOT GOOD.
Moore didn't throw two boneheaded picks or fail to execute several regulation throws to wide open receivers for huge plays against the 49ers.

No but he did call 5 wide with an empty backfield on 2nd and 2 in the red zone that ended up as an interception and giving SF time to drive downfield and get a FG. When we should have been running some time off the clock and getting points. He also likes to call for four vertical go routes on short yardage situations.

Because he's a play caller, but has no base system to fall back on when things go bad. He just relies on a better play to get them out of a funk. I feel like someone from the Reid or Shanahan trees will offer a good base they can fall back on when things aren't going well. SF is able to adapt to losing QBs because their base is so good. We surprisingly did well when Dak went out, so I do give Moore and McCarthy credit there, but they also simplified the offense for Rush. A similar gameplan for Dak would have helped him I believe but Moore decided to go a different route.

And lets not act like this team doesn't have talent. There are lots of good recievers, lineman and Dak is a top 15 QB. Plus, until this year 6 games vs the NFC east allowed us to pour on the points
I get what you are saying but when Dak came back he had us top of league in offense. That seems weird to suggest a simplified offense would work better for us at that point. We scored almost 30 per game. Moore was good but he has more learning to do as he is young. But the question was if we had the time for him to grow with what we have now. Truth is we don't especially if we are to evaluate Dak and a possible keep or let go. I understand the move for Kellen and hope he does well but it was definitely time for change

Big Mike needs to get dak to work on things in the off-season that will help him. Like studying game tape and reading defenses.

It's about how you to against the top teams, not your rank for the year, because that's how you win or don't win a SB. IMO a change was absolutely needed. Because of the cap you can't move on from Dak yet and Jerry wasn't ready to move on from McCarthy. If you do nothing, all you do is guarantee to finish the same way. I don't think it was Moore as much as I think it was Moore's Offense not matching up well with our players. I think Moore will excel with the Chargers and be able to completely run his offense the way he drew it up. But we wouldn't be able to here and thus something needed to give.

he needed a fresh start. his stay in dallas had run its course. Dak didn't need his frat buddy on the side line. and Moore was learning on the job. his offense struggled badly without Dak. and Dak couldn't go further with Moore's offense. Moore was learning on the job, came in very green and made a lot of mistakes along the way. he improved, but not enough. if everyone accuses Dak of collecting stats agaisnt weaker opponents then that directly speaks to Moore as well. he struggled against better teams and better defenses. he was inconsistent. he lacked imagination in play design and play calling and he would tend to get into streaks of predictability.

Hopefully he will find success with Chargers. but it also looks like a desperate move by the chargers as the coaching staff were on the hot seat, more specifically because of their offensive woes.

Moore didn't seem to realize that he had a QB who couldn't carry the team on his shoulders in big games against good teams. The best coaches devise schemes to fit the players. Everyone knew that running the ball was the Cowboys best asset on offense and having Dak throw 60% of the time was their kryptonite. Moore routinely abandoned the run against good teams when they fell behind. Except the Eagles game, ironically, when the RBs averaged less than ypc, they ran over 45% of the time and Dak had some significant carries.

Moore will be a better fit with a guy like Herbert who has immense arm talent and can stand in the pocket and throw 40 times/game with little help from the running game.
