The great thing about Jones is he also played safety in college, so you can put him in CF in passing situations or prevent, and in time, if CB works itself out, he can become the FS we've been waiting for.

Gregory would help the pass rush, but is he going to play ahead of DLaw, Hardy, or even Mincy?
Malcolm Brown was never in the running....no pass rush. We won't use a top draft on 1 tech....ever.

And Gregory doesn't play the run well - wouldn't be good value to use a first round pick on a 2-down DE.

I really like Brown as a player. Very versatile DT. But where did this idea develop that he's some elite pass rusher? Because he's not.

No a dt doesn't get taken out in nickel. A lb get's taken out and replaced by a db in nickel.

He's saying the 1-tech gets taken out, and Brown arguably projects as a 1-tech. Not sure that's entirely accurate, but I see the point.

Anthony in the first? Very good player - earlier than I expected.

Would Rodgers be able to go through all his progressions and get to his WR paired up with Moore if we actually had a dline? No.

This dude got lit up by Boise St. Just had surgery. He's a combine star. Mo Claiborne 2.0 come on down.

Hardy? He's the biggest wild card we could have. Are you seriously counting on him?

So who was avaible (for the DL) that would have been a good scheme fit (rules out Gregory), wasn't a pure 1-tech (Malcolm Brown), or would have been a reach? There was no 3-tech or DE that would have been of value equivalent to the #27 pick, and it would have been stupid to spend that pick on a 1-tech who will only play 1 down per series.

Dude, go back and check the threads. The pick was universally lauded, at least on this forum.

TRS, there were Manziel lovers ready to jump off a cliff. I didn't say EVERYBODY hated the pick. I said (implied) that there were plenty of detractors.

Suh and Kyle Williams comes to mind. So yes.

But it's over. Dallas has their great cornerback.

Williams had 5.5 sacks, Suh is very good but not a double digit sack man, DE and 3-4 OLB is where most of the sacks are coming from.

Athletic freak, great head on his shoulders and strives to get better. That shoulder surgery in 2014 has me worried, him only having a couple years of experience at CB is also a worry.

But the biggest thing here is, I just can't get excited about CBs in the first round. I won't criticize the pick though, he was the best player on the board and a position we needed to upgrade. Understandable and the staff seemed to love the pick.

Why or why not a DT?

Teams line up for pass rushing 3Techs like Donald. Why did we pass on Brown?

Because he is NOT a pass rusher, did not get sacks in college. Why is he still on the board after the way Donald lit up the league? Because he's a talented run stuffer...period! I have great faith in McClain.

Marinelli gets the type of DB he wants...versatile athlete who can play zone...CB now, FS later. Everyone wants us to play man and have shut down corners....Marinelli wants to play zone with guys who can read, react, and break on the ball.

Same whining last year and the year before...Fredbeard and Martin. Trust that our guys know which type players can have an impact in our scheme. I've never seen the Cowboys get a pick in so fast. The second they knew he was there, the pick was in...didn't even sit and listen for possible offers. Right or wrong, this is the kid they were targeting and hoping for. Other teams didn't even get a chance to dial our number....lol

We will most likely slide Hardy or Mincey over to DT to play alongside Crawford. This is how Hardy has gotten many of his sacks.

Getting a pass rush specialist such as Trey Flowers would help the team out more than a DT that doesn't play in nickel situations.

Please explain to me how you pass on........

LDE- Lawrence

3DT- Crawford

NT- Malcolm Brown

RDE-Hardy

This would have been a 3rd down nightmare:omg:

Easy---Dallas plays nickel 75-80% of the time. Malcolm Brown would be on the sidelines on 2nd and 3rd down.
