While I stop short of wanting to lynch Garrett, the comparisons with Tom Landry I found laughable and ridiculous...always have from the start. I think many of us are invested in Garrett as the right course and many will give him as much latitude as is required before giving up the ghost. Personally, I just don't see it for him. I think he has the respect of his players but I don't think that this team will acquire enough talent fast enough to get him to a championship. Even then, I believe that the Cowboys will get there in spite of him, not because of him. After today's slightly less than surreptitious scuffle on the sidelines, I am sadly more convinced. It should not take a receiver to remind an offense that a football game is in process. That is Jason Garrett's job. Period.

Today's NFL is more about coaching than ever. Every team has talent...most of it wasted. It is the headcoach that is smart enough for long enough that will get his players to the final Sunday of a season.

Personally, and people can back up Garrett as much as they want. This game was a coaching blunder, period. Because Garrett doesn't have situational awareness we lost. How can you not chew out the clock with 1:40 left and 3 downs? Heck if he wanted he just have to kneel down 4 times and we win. Why did we have run it outside? That was just dumb.

This game is on Garrett pure and simple. Any smart coach would have taken a knee and run as much time on the clock as possible without a chance of a penalty.

Funny thing, I'd be so onboard with Jason Garrett taking the playcalling responsiblity back.

I no if you like a post you can push the blue Like button.....but how about a He** NO button...ok, I would settle for a dislike button.

If I was a season ticket holder, I'd write to the front office and tell them I'm cancelling my ticket purchase until a competent coaching staff is hired. If you get enough people to nad up and do this, changes will come. I guarantee that.

You kick the fg like jg did. They wouldve had even better field position with a punt. They would have easily got a fg too. I don't know what people are thinking if you wanted a punt there. The d just sucks and we cant run the clock out on o. And playing not to lose is always our problem. I have no respect for teams that play that way. We deserved to lose playing scared.

Really. If they get the ball with no timeouts and 25 secs on the clock inside their own ten...tha'ts a very tough task. One play doesn't get out of bounds and it's over.

I think Garrett is too scared to do anything but the most conservative when presented with options, they're probably too afraid to stay aggressive because of games like the last time they played Detroit and they lost a gut wrencher after leading 27-3

At some point he needs to get past the fear of dying so he and his team can live.
He'll probably figure that out at his next stop after he gets run out of Dallas

It seems that he coaching like a deer in the headlights. Its obvious that if he doesn't move its going to kill him. So therefore he over compensates and plays it even more conservative so that he can at least brace himself comes - when the car hits him.

It's simple. Garrett is doing what most scared mediocre coaches do. They play it conservative because it makes it easier to answer the post game questions when you fail.

I think there is something to this. He sure is in over his head. And lets not even talk head coach...lets just talk offense. He has 100% failed to develop any kind of running game. He is the "brains" behind this offense and he cannot develop a running game. I think the heat is going to be cranked up on JG. Of course not by the one person that can do anything about it.

Can someone please explain to me why Garrett didn't just have us kneel on our last possession (before the FG)?

I like Garrett as a scout/talent evaluator. I don't care for him as a head coach. I wouldn't be opposed to Garrett in a role like GM or something, but it's clear he's not maximizing the talent we have.

I wondered why not take a TO with 25 seconds to go when they got it to the one to give yourself time At least then you can make 2 passes and try a 55- something yarder.

Or why not do a screen earlier on those drives. Same effect as a run but easier to execute.

Oh, Lawd, here we go with the Landry mantra again. I'll clue you in, Jason Garrett is not Landry. His team got 4 turnovers today, and he still managed to lose the game.

Read my post again....I acknowledged that he is not Landry. But you guys would have been ready to fire Landry

Given the title, is this a religious content thread or a thread attacking Celts?

Seriously, it was 3rd and 14. Did he really think we were going to pick up the first down running it?? Because that's the only possible justification for risking a run instead of kneeling.

If anyone is interested take a look at the last 1:24 of the Pittsburgh Oakland game. Very similar situation, Pitt with 2 timeouts, needing the ball. You can go through the plays using the drive chart. Oakland wound up punting to the Pitt 9, Pitt had 20 seconds or so to go 90.

actually I think it was to get in better FG range and force them to get a TD. That's why I would have called for a screen. It gets yards and keeps clock going.
