I think an ideal scenario for the NFL is if the Cowboys end up 8-8 every year.
Because Cowboys are loved and hated, that's how they get huge ratings.

Fans tune in to see them win and trolls tune in to see them lose. An 8-8 season caters to the fans as well as the trolls evenly.

LOL wants the Cowboys to be successful.
Cowboy fans are happy.
It is also easier to hate a successful team.

Difference between thinking and executing.
My point is that every fanbase think their team is hard done by by the refs. Everybody thinks the refs are out to get them. Have you ever been on a Commanders game thread when they are playing. It's hilarious. According to them, there is a massive conspiracy by the refs and the NFL to make sure they never win another Super Bowl. They rail on the refs like they are the devil incarnate. Especially against the Cowboys. We get all the calls. Jerry has paid them all off.

I don't want to be like them.

I get it. Everybody is upset about the loss and they are venting. I am too.

But I would wager that if a statistical analysis were done, we would get no more or no less bad calls called against us than anybody else.

I was thinking a Cowboys Nation boycott until next season. Their ratings would plummet. *** em.

That would get their attention. I was thinking just like the Packer fans had a petition against Buck and Aikman Cowboys fans could start a petition to not watch the remaining games.

The league is becoming unwatchable with every incomplete pass ending with a QB and receiver (and announcer) complaining wildly over a flag not being thrown.

Also allow a coach to use a challenge on a penalty if he wants instead of a regular call.

The NFL needs to fix this crap. It's driving fans away.

I've never been more apathetic towards games (big ones, anyway) than I have been in recent years.

I never thought I would be amongst those who are getting fed up with how the league is being run, never thought I'd actually start to lose interest in watching NFL games for any reason. But it seems to be happening.

Don't get me wrong, I'm unquestionably in love with this team and I always will be -- I just can't stand the NFL as an entity anymore. Something needs to change, but until the NFL actually starts losing money, nothing will change unfortunately. Unless a new or existing professional football league steps its game up, acquires a huge amount of investment capital, lures in some good player & coaching talent, advertises the hell out of itself as the anti-NFL, and becomes a real competitor to the NFL monopoly. Another league taking money away from the NFL would surely get their attention.

Crazy thought, but could you imagine if Jerry was so fed up that he started a new professional football league and moved the Cowboys over there as the inaugural team?

In all seriousness though, it would be nice if there was actually another professional football league worth watching besides the NFL.

If people get fed up enough, and NFL ratings drop considerably over the next few years, I could definitely imagine some competition springing up for the NFL.
This are been tried a few times. They have all failed miserably. The USFL. The WFL. The one Vince McMahon started.

And you would get the same results that the Packers petition got. Zero.

That is impossible to organize. A group of 200 people clicking twitter for a few hundred times is possible to organize.

We got a web host guy here : )

The NFL may not care, but it is the official who gets his named printed a hate twitter that went viral.
Fan revenge against him PERSONALLY

Haha, i agree with you.

I also think there should be a petition, of not just Dallas fans, but all NFL fans who actually care about the game, that they're not going to watch unless there's *some* effort into putting out a decent product.

It's pretty embarrassing that a multi billion dollar industry doesn't even have full-time officials, and thinks it's cool to just have incompetent enforcement of the rules every Sunday. It's ruining the product, but they don't care.

The better team that day should win. Period. That's what makes football great. Having part-time CPAs singlehandedly influencing the winners and losers is ruining it. But I've begun to think that's the actual plan. "Plausible deniability".

I think most NFL fans would be happy to stop watching until the NFL makes some sort of an attempt. We're the freakin' consumers! A lot of teams get jobbed just like we did last night.

I'm sure the 31 other teams are working on the same thing.

They all think they are ripped off as well.

Why is this acceptable? The NFL is worth billions and billions of dollars yet they can't hire competent refs to call it down the middle? I say when I smell something fishy and I smell something fishy. Not a conspiracy against my team only, but something is very wrong with the referees in the NFL. But why do people like you shrug it off like oh well?

Like the unsportsmanlike conduct call on Brice?

All season we have heard the NFL's ratings are sagging. And I think a big reason for that is fans are growing tired of games being decided not by the players; but by judgment calls from the officials.

I am neither naive nor petty enough to pin yesterday's loss to the Packers only on blown calls. But I cannot deny there was no equality. The Brice Butler penalty was an absolute joke and, if I didn't know better, something that the officials made a premeditated decision to call.

Later, Jason Witten gets grabbed from behind in the endzone and falls on his face. No flag. Then I see an Aaron Rodgers interception erased by a quick tug on the shoulder pads by Anthony Brown. Something has to be done.

It's too the point I no longer immediately celebrate a big play by the Cowboys. I stop and scan the TV screen to make sure there's no penalty. If things were like this years ago, Drew Pearson's 1975 Hail Mary catch would have been negated by a push-off. I am nearing my breaking point with the men in stripes.

The inconsistency of the way games are called is infuriating.

Either call illegal contact / PI or dont. Either call holding on linemen or don't.

The randomness of when they decide to make certain calls is always going to be perceived as being bias.

Be like me and the growing trend of fans. Hit it them where it hurts, don't watch any games besides cowboys games. Football is done in my household. The product has suffered because of officiating and over officiating.

So much power given to dudes that they don't even want to make full time dedicated employees.

Exactly. I have no problem with the Cowboys getting flagged when they deserve it. My problem is when the other team gets away with doing the same exact thing.

It's tricky trying to figure out the right mixture. Refs really could easily call a penalty on every play. But obviously penalties are there to make the game fair. That Pearson OPI should have been called that was very blatant. Just like the hail Mary Cobb and Rodgers executed last week against the Giants that OPI tht Cobb commited was just too much it should have been called.
But I get that the refs are ruining the sport. These penalties really are deciding games. I think what the NFL should do is make defense easier to play. Make Defensive Pass Interference a 10 or 15 yard penalty it should be the same as OPI. They have made defense next to impossible just to help scoring and stats sky rocket for FF.
I see an argument both ways. There's gotta be penalties. And trying to find a happy medium is near impossible.
